Soldiers Creek Golf Club
About
The course at Soldiers Creek Golf Club was designed by Scott Clark, a former Golf Course Superintendent at The Grand Hotel in Point Clear Alabama and the current Superintendent at The Peninsula Golf Club in Gulf Shores Alabama. While this is Scott's first attempt in playing the role of a course architect, it also reveals his depth of experience in the golf course industry. The design goals of building a course that would be enjoyable for high handicappers as well as low handicappers was met in this design.
The course features wide player-friendly fairways. Also, water comes into play on only two holes which makes navigating this course easier for high handicappers. A large natural turf driving range and 10,000 square foot practice green is available as a warm-up or practice area.
Soldiers Creek Golf Club is owned by the Norman Woerner family. Norman is a member of the Woerner Turf family of sod producers. Woerner Turf is a world-wide leader in turf production. The company provides turf for many golf courses ranging from Augusta National to new courses in Hong Kong. They also supply the turf for the NFL Super Bowl and the NFL Pro Bowl in Hawaii.
Southern Turf Nurseries provided the Tif Eagle for Soldiers Creek Golf Club. This turf grass is considered by many to be the best-of-the-best turf for southern golf course greens. The fairways and roughs are Tif 419, a dense-growing emerald-colored grass that's perfect for plush fairways. The greens feature Tif Eagle, the newest and best-of-the-best southern turf grass for golf course greens. An increasingly popular choice for new golf courses and redesigns, this turf permits a closer cut, thus allowing for smoother, faster greens.
Located only several miles from Alabama's sun-kissed Gulf Coast, this new 18 hole championship course is part of the Woerner Preserve Resort. Our friendly staff welcomes you to play the newest course on the Gulf Coast. Yes, we are now open. Come spend some time with family or friends. Relax and enjoy a round of golf in this natural setting.

Avoid this course for awhile!
As we were coming uo the ninth fairway, they were HEAVILY sanding the green, making it unplayable. Same thing on 18th. A few other greens in need of serious attention. I will avoid Soldier's Creek until the fall at least!
Good layout
Course layout is nice and fair. Greens were in rough shape with lots of bare and sandy areas. The greens that were in good shape had not been cut and extremely slow. Would love to play course again when greens are in better shape.
Almost great…
The greens were a big disappointment. Most had partial diseased grass, some more than others. 9 and 18 were almost completely destroyed. They are working on them and when they come back this course will be very nice.
Good Layout-Horrible Greens
Layout is good, fairways are in great condition but the greens are horrible. Probably 12 of the 18 greens have HUGE patches of no grass. The greens are heavily diseased and extremely bumpy. Player beware.
Wanted to love it
Really enjoyed the layout and the scenery. The fairways were nice the tee boxes needed a little work but the greens are in bad bad bad shape. I want to love this course but the greens really make that impossible. I hope they get it figured out because it is a bit expensive considering many of the greens are unplayable they’d be better off having temporary greens
I was a little nervous based on the recent reviews. But they had a good price so we gave it a shot. A few of the greens were pretty rough but over all we had a great day. I appreciate them lowering their price based on the course conditions. That was the right thing to do. But honestly compared to the tracks in Spanish fort it was wasn’t that bad. The green boxes and fairways were plush and 70 percent of the greens were good. I would go back. You can tell they are working on bringing it back up to par
Greens are in bad shape
The greens were in very poor shape. This is the 4th time to play here and they have gotten worse.
Greens suck
Great layout. Tees and fairways are great. Greens are HORRIBLE.
Bad course conditions!
We are from Minnesota and came down to play some golf. The greens were in horrible shape, and would not recommend this course to anyone.
Nice Course
The course is very scenic, not to difficult and enjoyable to play.
Fine for the money
Not too much to the clubhouse. Probably not grabbing drinks and sitting by the bar after your round here. The greens had dead spots and were a bit chewed up.
Soldiers Creek
The course is in fair condition for this time of year. Greens are bumpy. More grass on the fairways than some of the surrounding courses.
Rough Start but Good Finish
When we got to the Clubhouse we were told they do not use Golf Now and that our prepaid T Time was not valid. However they did have our T time and they got it through golf now. Eventually the manager said she would take it and fight it out with Golf Now.
The course is wooded and very secluded. Most of the time you feel like you are the only ones there. We played quickly and really enjoyed it. The greens are a mesd. Seems to be hard to have nice greens here. Frre water from cart girl was nice.
The course is not rated for GHIN. We were playing with friends who were out for the first time all year and we played best shot. They really liked it.
