Located in the West Valley, Sundance Golf Club offers scenic views of the White Tank Mountains to the north and the Estrella Mountains to the south. Designed by Greg Nash, the golf course is unique in that it flawlessly blends lush green landscaping with Sonoran Desert washes and arroyos. The rolling terrain of this target-style course creates elevation changes that can affect play. Sundance Golf Club's signature hole is the par-3 sixth hole, which requires a precise shot over Sundance Lake to an undulating green that is sloped toward the lake. There are four sets of tee boxes on the golf course for many different options, but the Sundance Golf Club also offers a driving range, chipping area, and putting green.

Enjoyable round

The course is not terribly difficult depending on the tees you chose to play from. The challenge is the landing areas. A few holes have narrow landing areas or very little rough before going into the desert and rocks. Several holes are more about target golf. I liked the change up with a few of the segmented fairways. Do you lay up or go for it? Do you feel lucky? I enjoyed the course and the company that I was paired up with. The only thing that I didn't like was that the group ahead of us had no respect for the course or fellow golfers. They left beer cans strewn about the course in the fairway, next to the greens and at the tee box. Guys there are trash cans at the tee box use them. We picked up the cans and wrappers they left behind. However, the biggest sin was the damage they did to the greens. On one hole they slammed their putter or wedge into the green and left the gouge in the green. At another green they left a divot like they got mad and chunked their putter across the green. We fixed the damage as best we could, but this is inexcusable. The place needs a ranger. We saw a ranger on the first hole but never again for the rest of the round.

Poor pace of play

There was a 5 some with 2 adults and 2 little kids playing two groups in front of us. With the wind and that group it was a 5 hour round. No rangers on the course.

Brick hard greens and fairways

Difficult to keep drives on fairways. With US Open pin placements on greens, course is not a fair test of golf. Course would be better played in more user friendly conditions.

This course is well taken care of and a pleasure to play. This is one of the courses that we try to play a couple times each month.

Not the course for the cost

Sundance is a challenging course with lots of desert landscape, not too different from many Arizona golf courses, which is why my ratings aren’t higher. They don’t offer a 9 hole option and the cost with cart is on par with nicer golf courses.

Front nine was fun, back nine not so fun!

We found it to be a great course and a lot of fun. Next years AZ vacation will include a round here at Sundance.
The back nine was challenging. Fortunately we were paired with a very nice couple who offered us some very good advice on where to hit in order to stay out of trouble. I am a high handicap golfer so I found trouble despite the coaching advice I received.
We will be back!

Amazing course and staff, highly recommend!

It was my second time going back to Sundance and I highly recommend the course for both the overall course itself and the staff is a major plus also. Compared to some other places I’ve been, the staff at Sundance is way more friendly and welcoming. Pace of play was good for a Sunday afternoon also, not held up by the people in front and people behind weren’t waiting on us either.

I’ll definitely be returning back. Thanks to Kenny and other staff members for making a great experience!
