practice range
nothing says we dont care' like a practice range with no real grass and almost completely SANDED. ropes are 4 ft apart and dont look like they have been moved in a while. pretty bad when you are there strictly to practice (as i have 100 timies prior), you mention it to someone and they Laugh heartily.
there are lots of other places to practice in this area. i'll be sure to make use of them in the future.
ps
no warning of any kind what i would find. just took my money and ran.
color me not happy
Very Disappointed
Crow Creek is normally one of our group’s favorite courses. We played there today and the course was virtually unplayable. The course was very wet due to the recent rain. There is nothing that can be done about that. My issue is that the fairways were recently over seeded and the winter ryegrass is coming up. The grass on the fairways was over 2 inches high. It was like having rough in the middle of the fairway. Balls did not roll out at all and even perfect shots in the fairway lost considerable yardage and were nearly impossible to get a clean club on. We should have been warned about these conditions before we teed off so that we could have made an informed decision about wether to play or not. It is simply unfair to send golfers out with those conditions. We really should have been given a rain check or refund.
Golf trip
This is a very fair layout on this course. Conditions this time were tough but that was due to the rain over the weekend. Course is usually in top shape.
Not a good time to play Bent Grass Greens
Crow Creek is a very nice course. Nothing overly challenging and mostly flat. The greens are nice during the Winter and Spring and late Fall, but if you come to play during June through September, you will be disappointed. We who live in the area, still do not understand why they persist to use bent grass for the greens. When it starts getting hot and humid here, bent grass greens just basically suck. In the heat and humidity, the green keepers need to let them grow and they become crazy slow and they have bare spots and divots that don’t replenish themselves for months. There are always divot marks and bare spots, because the grass is basically just trying to survive. There are many other local courses that use the newer strains of Bermuda that love the heat and humidity and can be cut low all year to maintain a consistent face pace, receptive green type. Play one of them, you will be happier. I’m a 6 handicapper and play Crow Creek multiple times per year, but would play more during the warmer months if the greens were something other than bent.
Fun Course County Club Conditions
What a fun beach course and conditions were best anywhere at the beach.
Course offer generouse fairway and greens. Making it a fun track to play for all levels. The course fairways were lush and bent grass greens very true and fast. Staff was freiendly and pace of play was perfect! Saw a few monster gator too! We will be back again
A great day for golf!
It was our first time at Crow Creek, but certainly not our last. The course was in fairly good shape, which is surprising based on their recent hurricane. The fairways are relatively open and in good shape. While there is a decent amount of water, it is not intimidating at all. The staff is friendly and very helpful. Try it – you’ll like it!
Discrimination
Tried several days to play 9 holes early morning. Denied. “We wouldn’t want to play behind a 4 some—would be boring. Yet, people came about the same time and got on. The course schedulers are prejudice and do as they feel— pro men players. I overheard them giving 2 ladies about a First Tee time and price. Too many other places as nice to play. Won’t but a house there!
Must play
Played on 4/12/19 since they updated their greens this is a must play..Great layout, great staff. Everything was worth it. Not sure what we payed as it was part of a package but highly recommend
Great track on North End
I play numerous rounds in the Myrtle Beach area and have not visited Crow Creek in about two years. Since that time they have redone their greens. The re-do makes this a must play for any friends trip down on the Grand Strand. The course is wide open and not extremely long but do not let that fool you. The challenge is the greens. They are fast, pure, and fair,. They have tiers on all most all holes and if you are looking for a flat straight putt then look elsewhere. Bring your green reading expertise and enjoy the challenge. I also believe they have some of the best par 3's down here and water can come into play if you are not careful.. The fairways are great the course is great and the facility is top notch. Even the food is great. Do not make the mistake I did and wait two years to play this gem. . I will be back as soon as I can .
Beautiful course and layout!
Although this course is surrounded by housing, it is beautiful with many natural areas and abundant wildlife. The conditions were good considering the recent hurricane. Fairways, tees and traps were in great shape. We were, however, highly disappointed in the "new Bentgrass greens". They're over a year old now but very rough and spotty. I love Bentgrass greens when they are in cooler climates. I don't understand installing bentgrass in coastal, hot, humid areas. In fact, I read where 90% of greens in the Myrtle Beach area are some type of Hybrid/Bermuda grass. That tells you something. By chance, my group played two Bentgrass and one Bermuda course this week. The Bermuda green was in far better condition than the two Bentgrass. I would recommend this course in cooler months, November to April, when the greens should be at their best.
Slow slow greens
My Day 1 course for the 2018 Myrtle Beach World Am.
The course was in ok shape. They have bentgrass greens and they were very very slow. The rough on this course is very thick but not extremely deep. Fairways in good shape. Bunkers...just ok.
Speed the greens up and it may have been enjoyable.
Must Play Course
Greens were a little slow but this was a great course. I would recommend this course without hesitation.
Great greens and fairways
The greens and fairways are some of the best I have played in years. The layout is challenging yet there is plenty of room off the tee.
Renovations look good
Crow Creek recently re-opened in late October after replacing all their greens and repairing fairways & drainage.
The green were true, although a little slow. The fairways were in fantastic condition.
Looking forward to playing here often.
Very Disappointed
In all fairness they just installed new Greens. The Greens were like Putting on Broccoli. Would Not recommend this course for the rest of the year
Great Value for the money
Over all the course was in great shape, greens were moderately fast. Practice greens were much faster. I would recommend it
Greens terrible
The greens are a mix of bent grass and Bermuda. They were very bumpy, there were patches of sand in the middle and they were extremely slow. The ball would roll and then stop just like it was on fly paper or something similar. Not worth the money
Crow Creek
Fantastic conditions for our round at Crow Creek! Tee boxes, fairways, greens - they were all pristine. We played first thing in the morning, so pace of play wasn't an issue at all.
The course has a pretty easy layout. While water does come into play on several holes, there aren't really any forced carries, lay-up holes, or any real placement shots.
The clubhouse was beautiful. The range and practice greens are among the best you will find. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
I would recommend a nice, relaxing round at Crow Creek.
Punched greens were not pleasant
First time here. Played 50 golf courses in Myrtle Beach and decided to try it since other people in PA recommended it. Rained day before so course was extremely wet. Greens were not cut in a long time. and it was not pleasant to putt. Clubhouse indicated greens were punched 4 weeks ago, but due to amount of rain, are not able to have grass grow properly. Top dressing was prominent. Fairways were playable after water evaporated after 14 holes. Staff was extremely nice especially guys who loaded clubs on cart. Would probably play when conditions were much better.
Always a favorite
Grandfather loves playing this course when we're on vacation and it's only 15 minutes away from North Myrtle Beach up US 17. The course was in great shape. Many challenging, but fair holes and the greens run true. Will definitely play again.
Greens were in terrible shape in October. Fairways were trying to come back from disease conditions. Not worth the money right now for sure
