Course was closed...trying to get my $$ back from GolfNow
I set a tee time for Deer Chase through the GolfNow site. The course called me and apologized, but the course was closed for that afternoon due to a large event. He mentioned getting my money back from GolfNow since the course let GolfNow that the afternoon was unavailable.
I don't really care about who or how the money is returned, but finding it very hard to contact GolfNow. I responded to my confirmation email of the situation, but received no response back. I set up my account to make sure they have my contact information.
expensive and undermanaged
I was a little shocked at the $32 for 9 holes price tag. But the guy behind the counter assured me that is was a great bargain, as compared to Kinderhook or Lake Valley. Of course he made a point to let me know that he plays for free.
But that all said I went on and paid. What i found out about this great bargain was: you had to dig your own cart out of the garage, there were no ball washers on the course, there were no water jugs on the course, there is rain damage on some of the fairways, sand bunkers and cart paths.
Probably will not go back till the management wakes up.
It’s been a bit dry here in the Lake of the Ozarks area and the course still had some GUR wet spots. The rough was thick but playable. Typical cut in the Ozarks type course with significant sloping fairways which were challenging and narrow. The rough could be only 5-10 yards wide and then you were in uncut natural grass (lost ball) this course requires you to be on the fairways. Quite a bit of GUR even in the fairways. Some funky holes where a course guide would have been really helpful. We played for $34.00 on a hot buy and honestly can say I wouldn’t want to have paid full rate for the course in this condition. Oh and bring your own water or refreshment as the snack shop was closed.
What a cool place
My absolute ideal for location - in the country, not a house to be seen. Really fun layout with imaginatively shaped and sized greens. Low fade will work well off the tee.
Love this course. Beautiful views and neat layout. Greens are superb. Couple problems. Seems they are doing the bare minimum in maintenance to stay a float. Every bunker was unplayable and it was clearly due to lack of maintenance. Hadnt rained hard enough to wash them out in months. One par 3 on the front had us teeing off on artificial turf mats. Either reshape the tee box to make it work or abandon it altogether. Rough is pure weeds for the most part. Love this course and will play again. Glad they focus on the most important areas but hope theyll start investing some time and money in a few others.
a favorite course at the Lake
What's not to like about this course...one of our favorites at the Lake. It does play long, so you might want to drop down in your tee selection. It is in great shape and there is a lot of variety. Friendly staff.
Much Improved Course Condition
I stopped playing this course a couple of years ago due to poor fairway conditions and inconsistent quality of the greens. I decided to check it out today and was very pleasantly surprised. Greens were in good shape and rolled true consistently. The fairways were vastly improved from previous experiences as were the tee boxes. The rough continues to penalize errant shots due to its variety of and length of the grasses you would find yourself in if you happened to stray.
The various staff members I interacted with today were incredibly pleasant and appeared to take pride in their work and in the course.
I will most assuredly return and bring guests.
Fun Course, Great Views, Average Conditions
This was my first time playing Deer Chase.
Course is very scenic with some fantastic views from some of the holes which are at the top of the valley. The staff is friendly and helpful. ,
I was expecting better conditions of the course based on the reviews I read. The greens were great, but the fairways were long and shaggy. The tee boxes were in great condition. I just with the tree boxes and fairways were cut a little shorter as the grass on all the tee boxes and fairways was long and shaggy.
There are lots of elevation changes on the course which adds to the scenic views. The worst part was the sand traps as many were unplayable being full or water and very little sand.
Overall, I really had a great time and I liked the course. Not too challenging and you can score well.
Beautiful challenging course
Course is very scenic, staff is freindly, GolfNow price is a value, only one bad tee everything else in great shape. Challenging greens
Beautiful area with an awesome layout. No impossible holes like some courses have. You won’t be disappointed!
Nice, quiet course tucked away in the Ozarks.
First time playing this course for our threesome. Very well kept course, with great views from the higher elevations. Greens, fairways and tee boxes were in great shape. Had first year golfer with us and the staggered tees worked well. Riley in pro shop was very helpful as our Golf Now reservation did not show up. He honored our rate. Plan on going back real soon...and likely often.
Great course for the price. Most courses near my house are a bit more expensive. It’s a beautiful course that offers something for everyone’s game.
Golf course was in great condition! Friendly staff all over....
Best Kept Secret at the Lake
The course was in fantastic shape, best greens at the Lake. Friendly staff, pace of play very accomodating!
Problems with Deer Chase
Cart paths had chuckholes
Bridges run down and patched across creeks, did not look safe
Some holes had carpet instead of grass at tee block
Sand traps were full of dirt and rocks
Some holes were very wet
Course was not well manicured
Greens were in excellent shape
