It’s was challenging but fun.
Greens were rough and and SLOW. For winter golf it was good.
needs a bit more time.
From what I understand from the locals, the course has had a management or ownership change. At this time there is much work being done on the course. It is a nice course and has interesting holes. Some of the greens have slight issues, bare spots etc. The greens need a bit of fine tuning. Maybe as the season progresses the turf will improve. I would be interested to see how the improvements enhance the course.
Course still in rough shape.
I had read the course was in rough shape. That was still the case. Work is being done to improve the course but it will take time. The greens were bumpy and slow. I like the layout and length but the course is over priced until improvements are complete. Of course I played in February which is winter but I played two other courses in the area this week and they were in much better condition.
Greens in poor shape, fairways in poor shape, . To pay this much for a round of golf in such poor condition is a waste of money..
Beautiful Setting, Terrible Conditions
This course has magnificent traps around the greens. Problem...no sand in the traps! They are exactly like the infield of the softball diamonds here(softball tournaments are a big thing here in St. George)
There are MANY fairways with multiple areas of "ground under repair".
The tee boxes have gravel (not sand). Our drivers are permanently scuffed on the bottom.
I wouldn't have taken the time to set up an account and write this review if the course management would have admitted that there are some MAJOR problems with their course. But they actually took offense when they were given some feedback about our experience.
There ought to be a discount at least until their is adequate sand in the traps. That would be a great way of admitting they have work to do.
Sloppy Greenskeeper
Sorry but for 90 bucks this was terrible. The tee boxes were overgrown and reminded me of a cow pasture. The fairways had major issues and the greens were like putting on shag carpet.
A rip off for $90
Heard a lot of good things about the course coming down from Salt Lake. Extremely disappointed. The tee boxes were horrible. Does anyone that works there even look at them? Fairways were muddy, sand traps were unplayable, and greens were beat up. The group at Coral Canyon should be ashamed of themselves for charging this much money. They are obviously not putting any of it back to make the course better. I can see where it probably was a very nice course in the past, the layout is good. Please have a little pride and improve the conditions. I have now played 8 courses in St. George and Coral Canyon is definitely at the bottom of my list.
The course was in terrible condition it made me laugh at ground under repair signs when it looked like over half the fairway was under repair. Tee boxes and greens were the worst I have ever played on and I have played some pretty basic courses before. Fact is I kinda feel bad for them.
Could not pay me to play here again
Weeds growing in all the greens and tee boxes. Tee boxes were barren. Fairways were starting to gather a lot of weeds. This is a dog track. You would do a lot better to go a few miles up the road to sky mountain. This use to be a well maintained course but not now. they have a lot of work to do.
Stay away
Practice tee so torn up there was little grass left. Tees in terrible shape. Grass in fairways very thin with lots of bare spots. Piles of fine gravel in the bunkers. Greens lumpy bumpy with bare spots and there were actually pebbles on the greens. Better to hit out of rough than off fairway sometimes. Pace of ply ridiculous. Couldn’t take it or the lousy course conditions; quit after 9. This course could be a beautiful layout and a delight for the average player, but unfortunately some cow pastures are better cared for. Don’t waste your money or your time.
Friendly staff
I don’t know if it’s because they are about to reseed. But, the tee boxes were in horrible shape the pin placement was on dead grass.
The layout was nice. I could see enjoying it if the course was in better shape. Especially for $90
Save your time and money
This course used to be great! It gets worse and worse every year. The staff is friendly, but the course is awful. I play a lot of golf, not sure I have played a course in the past 8-10 years that was worse condition than Coral. The pace of play was horrible. The snack shop has gone way downhill. They didn’t even have golf balls for sale in the pro shop. Save your time and money and go play elsewhere
$30 Muni
This course plays like a $30 Municipal course. Not at all worth the $89 they are charging. The fairways have dead grass and dirt on them. The greens are the same forcing us to move our balls just to be able to put on grass. Their are streams cross crossing all over with damage aplenty. The only bright spot was the food. It took forever to get it but it was delicious. Had both breast and lunch.. far better options for the money in st. George.
Don't go here
Staff is friendly, but they really jacked up the course. It looks like terrible. See pics below. Taken July 7, 2020. The greenskeeper and the GM should be fired!!!! It's that bad....
Major problems with the greens
As a few before me have said the course was really in poor condition. The greens are mostly an abomination. Too bad because the course has potential to be back to what it once was. Greens and tee boxes need significant help
Would agree with recent reviews - course conditioning is terrible. Multiple dead patches of grass on fairway and greens. Greens have been punched recently but there are tons of rocks on the greens. Impossible to putt as the ball just bounces around. I ignored other recent reviews but would not play until course conditions improve. Not an enjoyable round watching your ball bounce through a layer of rocks on the green.
Terrible greens
Worst greens we’ve ever played on and not one single drinking station on the course. Very disappointed.
Nice layout
First course I have played in St. George and was excited. The course has a fun layout and can challenge you. Unfortunately the greens were in terrible shape and fairways had some bald spots on some fairways. However, they are working to improve it. A huge plus was the price included lunch, which had huge sandwiches.
Fun, enjoyable round
Coral Canyon GC is a favorite course that I play a handful of times each year; the staff is welcoming, friendly, and attentive; the pace of play was a bit slow with two groups on each hole, but it was a pleasant round despite the delays; surprisingly the greens had some imperfections that affected putts which is uncommon for Coral Canyon; the fairways were in good shape, and the tee boxes had some repairs taking place which adjusted distances for the white tees; overall it was a fun, enjoyable round of golf.
