Great Course
My Brothers and I played this course twice in one week. Fairways were in great shape. Some water for the prior rains in the area. Greens even though recently punched were very playable. Course layout was very challenging. The Staff were the nicest people you ever wanted to meet. Made us feel right at home.
I would recommend Hulman Links to anyone of any skill level.
Challenging but satisfying
Very long course. You will get to you use all of your clubs.
Course update
They are in the process of redoing the fairways and making improvements in other areas. The staff was very friendly and we will absolutely be returning. It was a great day.
A shame
Excellent layout, but the course is not taken care of at all. Not worth the price they charge either. Fairway is riddled with hardpan.
Disappointed with Hulman
It seems as though Hulman Links is always under construction. The fairways are always tore up. If it weren't for the great deal through GolfNow, I wouldn't play there. They still charge the full price even though you can't hit out of most of the fairways.
Very Nice Layout
Course was extremely wet (cart path only) due to 5+ inches of rain in the last couple days. That being said the course was playable and the greens were in excellent condition. The layout of the course made for a fun yet challenging round of golf with some elevation changes and many lakes and sand traps (water on about half of the holes). The course has lots of holes that cut through or border wooded areas and due to the amount of rain recently did have a bit of an insect problem, but we were told this is not usually the case. I will definitely be back to see if this is true, hopefully when the course is a lot drier. Staff was very friendly and the Golf Now (HOT DEAL) rate made this a great value.
Hulman
Paid $14 on a hot deal with GolfNow. Best value possible!
A little disappointed
Drove over from Indy with 3 friends to play what I remembered as being a very nice course. Sadly My group and I were disappointed. Fairways were very rough and had a strange striped look to them. I guess it's worth 25.00 if you live close, but not and travel 50 or 60 miles. Indy has many courses for the same money but in much better shape. This course layout to me, is one of the prettiest in the state, if they would take care it. I hate seeing a beautiful piece of property not given the care that it deserves.
Hulman Links
Have played this course 50 times over the past 2 years. Always in good shape, and always able to find a great deal. Not the most amazing course, but definitely the best in the Tetre Haute area. Highly recommend giving it a shot.
Hulman Links is very interesting.
We played on a beautiful day and enjoyed the course. The staff was very friendly. The course was in good shape for the end of the year.
A hidden gem!
I of course went on a windy day with temps at 55 and the leaves had started to fall. In spite of this, I found the course in great condition and very challenging. The course could be compared in some ways to "The Fort" on the north east side of Indy. It is a long course as I played the white tees and they are near 6,500 yards. There are plenty of dog legs, elevation variances, and twists and turns through the course. If you want to have beautiful scenery and be challenged you must come here and play. I am glad I made the trip from Indy to play here.
This course could be TREMENDOUS!
First of all, had trouble with GolfNow on our tee time but the course contacted me and allowed us to get out on our original tee time. The biggest issues we had with the course was there were no yardage markers anyplace. Every once in a while we could find a painted line on the cart path but just a few simple minor low cost additions could make this place one of Indianas finest! Greens rolled true! Fairways were good! However, the cart paths are in need of repair. Some had some huge craters in them. As for the staff, they were top notch and were very friendly and helpful. The City of Terre Haute Parks has a real beauty here, they just need to do some upgrades on yardage markers or adding GPS's on the carts. We did use our SmartPhone for yardages but I am old school and still love an actual marker on the course! Great weather !
Overall a wonderful day!
Long Course
This was my first time on this course and it is a very nice play. I would not recommend for beginners unless you play from the front tees. There is a lot of water on the course and some narrow fairways. The greens rolled very true and were moderately fast. The bunkers are not good, very hard. Tee boxes were very nice, but need distance markers on the boxes, especially on the par 3s. Don't think you will go wrong playing here and the greens fees are very reasonable.
Great Comeback for a Great Track
I am a scratch golfer who returns to Terre Haute every year about this time to do some volunteer work at nearby Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology so I have played this course since it opened in 1978. It has a challenging but fair layout with pretty slick bent grass greens that was always prone to getting run down in the hot summer months but two years ago it was devastated by hot dry conditions that literally destroyed all of the fairways. Many of the dense areas of trees have been thinned out to increase air flow and speed up play and all of the fairways were re-seeded about 16 months ago in an effort to revive a once great course. The fairways finally have filled in so the overall course is in fantastic condition right now, especially for this time of year. The sand traps still need some work but if you stay away from them, you will enjoy a course with a great layout that is in excellent condition right now. Hats off to the staff at Hulman Links for bringing back a great course from the brink of extinction.
outstanding course and lay-out
Had not played Hulman in about 6 years. Best shape I have ever seen course in from tee box to green. Only suggestion I would have would be to have more readily seen yardage markers on course. I had so much pleasure in playing course I returned the following day and played in the drizzle.
Great Layout
I'm a little biased, as this is my home course, but Hulman Links has easily the best layout in west central Indiana. A good but fair challenge that will test all facets of your game. Fairways were recently sodded with zoysia grass in wake of problems with losing the bent grass fairways during hot, dry summers. Once the zoysia fills in completely, there is no reason why Hulman couldn't win "best muny in Indiana" for a second time; the layout is that good. Growing up on this course has helped me improve my game over the years and I would highly recommend it to any golfer looking for a good challenge.
Fun Course to play
Would love to plat this Course again. Was in very good shape. The only problem our foursome had was catching up with a very slow foursome on hole 12 who wouldn't let us play thru. Needed a Ranger on Course.. A fairly difficult Course and it was to tough for that foursome. Would still go back.
Hulman Links
Best course in the local area. It's a great challenge
Challenging and fun
This is probably the most difficult course available for us to play in central/west central indiana. Course was in amazing shape with the exception of 4 sections of fairway that did not take after new sod layed last year. None came in to play for us. City is trying to rectify sod issue with company who installed it. We played same day as city championship on course. The course held up very well to the traffic. We will definitely return. The length is very challenging but remains a fun course to play.
Yardage books for sale in the clubhouse.
