The Eagles Golf Club - Forest
About
Designed by Ron Garl and Gary Koch, the Forest Course at The Eagles Golf Club features the signature island-green sixth hole which rivals the famous 17th hole at the TPC at Sawgrass. The two outstanding championship courses at The Eagles Golf Club are kept in "tournament condition" year-round. As its name implies, much of Forest course winds through an impressive pine forest.

Great course and facility
My 5th time playing when I am in Tampa Area.
Course is always in good condition. Play moves along smoothly.
Absolutely recommend.
Better
I had played the course a few weeks earlier and commented that many of the greens were in tough shape - covered in sand, making chipping and putting difficult. The sand has worked it's way into the soil and the greens are in better shape now. Still a tough course for me. Lots of dog legs,,left and right, so you have to hit your drive in the right spot to make the corner.
Decent course, but a lot of greens and fairway areas are dried out
Turn on and/or repair irriagation and this course will be great. Very dried out greens and fairways on most holes. Friendly staff and good atmosphere. challenging but fair layout.
Good thing for the buck
I personally like the forest course better than lakes. However, both are very good value for what you get. Greens are in better than average shape. Very receptive with only a few rough patches here and there.
Overbooked
I booked this on Golf Now for a 5PM tee time. When arrived at the Pro Shop I asked if there was anyone else that wanted to play. As a single I always ask because most courses in the Tampa Bay area overbook and instead of standing around 10 minutes behind a 4-some, at least if they group you you can converse while waiting.
I asked the pro shop if it was busy and he said it wasn't.
To my surprise when I got to the first tee, I saw a 4-some waiting to tee off. Thinking there was no one ahead of them I asked if they would allow me to hit and move forward or if they wouldn't mind me playing behind them which would be pain for them to see me in the fairway while on the green.
The said they were in a 4 player scramble and that there were more players in front of them and behind them. They were very nice and said they would be finished after hole 3.
I was bewildered that the Eagles would book me as a single and have me tee off in the middle of a Eagles' event.
I have no issues with the course, fairways are in good shape. Greens are about average, course is very challenging with all of the trees. Hitting balls into the forest here is a killer. Its impossible to play balls once the go in. Sandtraps good. I would play there often as the value is great but it would be better if they were more upfront telling me they are wide open when there is multiple foursomes playing in their scramble.
Played in 4 hours for the first time!
Unfortunately you never tee off on time here but we were only 20 minutes behind on this round. We’ve been up to 45 minutes behind on other days. Many of the greens are in bad shape. Otherwise this is a fun and challenging course.
Our experience 3/31/24
Greens in good shape, grass in fairway, some racks missing from sand traps, great layout, with some challenging hole layouts
Needs Work
I love the layout of this course as the Forest Course always provides hidden water hazards and drives that require precision. Unfortunalty, the course needs some work. Greens are unpredicatable and very sandy. Drainage is also an issue and light rains can cause major flooding on some of the holes. They recently started doing 5 min tee off times which is a horrible idea. Hopefully they return to 8-10 min tee times as it causes bottle necking if the person in front of you can't play
DO NOT PLAY HERE
For the second straight time, we didn’t tee off until much later than our tee time. A WHOLE HOUR later this time! They stack groups in between an already short window of 7 minute tee times. The starter, who I felt bad for because he’s left out to dry, says it is new ownership that is making it impossible to tee off on time. I saw the tee sheet and starting at 7:00, then 7:04, 7:07, 7:10. C’mon, be reasonable! No one in our group will ever return to this course and the word is already out there. I mentioned the course to a pro at another course and he knew exactly what I was talking about already. GolfNow should remove this client from their options. I’m not a “review guy” and I’m sure no one will address this review but I thought it was important to let other golfers know about this horrible operation. AVOID this course!
Terrible Pace of Play
Staff was great but the absolute worst pace of play I’ve ever experienced at a golf course. 5 hours and we only got thru 16 holes.
I enjoyed my round, but we only saw the beverage cart once during our round. The one cart was servicing both courses. Ideally, I'd like to see the beverage cart at least once per nine. Note that they did have beverage machines at several points throughout the course.
