Glen Erin Golf Club
About
Glen Erin Golf Club is an homage to the strong Irish heritage of Janesville, Glen Erin, which literally mean "Ireland's Valley," sprawls across lush, emerald green hills that are accentuated with a prominent vale that runs throughout the course. The course has a distinctly Irish character with wide, undulating fairways and immense greens that are flanked with pot bunkers. Sandy waste areas and ribbons of native fescue serve as the outer rough. The elevation changes on the golf course range from subtle to dramatic. Golfers should be prepared for a fair amount of uneven lies as well as some forced carries. Glen Erin Golf Club finishes memorably with a long par 5 that offers a risk-reward opportunity. The double-tiered green is well guarded but with good placement and a little bit of luck, a birdie is definitely possible.

Hidden Gem
I always find the course to be challenging but fair. Once you get used to the short flags (depth perception is affected) and trust the yardage it is challenging but rewards good shots. Course was quiet and was paired with 3 others, but the course let two go on their own. By the 3rd hole since they sent out multiple groups of 2 we were all waiting on a slow foursome. Conditions were excellent as always.
Well kept secret!
Course is great - staff is always friendly and accommodating. Only one suggestion is that they make sure two-somes are paired up to always help the pace of play. This time was great - no waiting and the pace was great. We really enjoy this course and do not mind the drive to Janesville.
Highly recommended course.
The course is always been in excellent shape every time we have played there. Staff has been friendly every time. I recommend this course to every one that is going to play around there.
Great course!!
I really enjoyed playing Glen Erin. It's a course that will make you think about shot selection. Challenging greens make you consider approach shots carefully. Most of all, it's a fun track!!
course conditions
Course was very dried out. Need to water! Greens were ok.
Glen Erin Golf Club
The Good: Playable, fun track from local Greg Martin is a true hidden gem in the Janesville, WI area. Relatively flat, benign front nine goes out to an excellent, tree-lined closing nine. Very good course conditions, are large undulating greens that pose the real threat. Nice driving range and decent putting green. Very good pace of play. Strong Par 4's, especially on the back nine and a great final Par 5. Superb value at under $50 during peak season.
The Bad: On-course amenities are severely lacking with only one outhouse and no GPS. Practice facility is on the other side of the clubhouse. Staff and service is average at best.
The Verdict: Dollar-for-dollar, one of the best values in the state. Very fun golf course to play, just lacking in overall amenities.
Best Hole: #12 is a long, tree engulfed par 4 that requires a precise drive and an approach through a chute.
Favorite Place to Play in South Central WI
This is by far the best place to play in Rock County..... Always a great value!!
What tee time?
I live in Rockford, which has a great selection of golf courses. However, sometimes it's good to go other places to play. For me, it's almost an hour drive to get to the course.
When we arrived it was surprising to find that they had some sort of tourney/play day going on. I say surprising because there were several tee times that we could have booked earlier in the day, but we took a late tee time to get a better deal.
We were told they were running a few minutes behind and to bear with them. When we final got to tee off it was nearly an hour after our reserved time and we had to go off the back nine or wait even longer.
The course played slow and halfway through the first nine holes, the group behind us peeled off and either quit or went to play an alternative route.
I don't understand how they can have tee times available online while there's a tourney going on. And I don't understand why they don't have better control of the course. They really were unapologetic about the whole thing. There were several employees in the club house and none of them were out on the course working to nudge play along. Perhaps they had given up since they likly knew that they had oversold the course.
It's still early in the season but the weather was reasonable although a bit windy. Perhaps that might have even added to the experience of this links style course. The course was in very good condition and the greens very fast and challenging.
I'd like to recommend the course but the management team needs to do a better job of operating it and taking care of customers.
SFC Edwards
This course has great features. The course is well laid out so that all levels of golf can enjoy the game of golf. Great bar and food. Driving range and practice putting areas are in great condition.
First Time at this course
This golf course was very nice. Quite a variety between the front and back nine. the course was in excellent condition for late October. Would plan to play again.
This course has great speed of greens
We like this course a lot. Great greens and farewsys
Looking For a Gem
I got off work early on week day. Found a mid afternoon tee time for peanuts Here. Course is very short from whites. I played the Orange back tees shot my handicap +11 83. Course is pretty wide open. Best feature I found was the sand traps placements. Bravo. Plush course. Nice greens. No cart gal. But plenty of water jugs on the course. I would play here many times. Alot of fun. Back nines more challenging. Great 18th watering hole.
Good course
A few very good holes in the trees; mostly out in the open. Greens were quite fast.
Its a good course - (I am biased, had a 76 with double at the last).
slow play...poor green conditions
course in good shape. greens were averge to poor ....many poor tool jobs on greens...repaired many ball marks. Played behind course employees..a five some...very slow.
Links course
Great condition , friendly staff, tough greens, would love to play this course more often if I lived closer!
Great golf experience
Took friends there for the first time, very pleased. Course in great shape and staff were very friendly. Only thing missing was the beverage cart..... Total experience was very good!!
A unique and memorable course!
Glen Erin is a challenging and fun course and provides all skill levels with a fun time.
Challlenge for the Weekend Hacker
I am a very average golfer and took out some friends. I did not know their golfing abilities, but Glen Erin turned out to be too difficult. We spent a lot of time looking for lost balls. This was my mistake, not the course's.
Tale of two nines
Front nine is links style, back nine takes you thru the woods. Very interesting and challenging course. Great value on the hot deals page.
Great Experience
Hadn't played here for a couple of years but was reminded of how enjoyable the total experience is at Glen Erin.
