Not the best of the PGA West Courses

Ive played all the PGA West public courses, and both the affiliated La Quinta courses and this is amongst the least interesting. I would personally rate it only above the La Quinta Dunes course out of the 5 courses (My personal ratings order: Stadium Course, La Quinta Mountain, Nicklaus Tournament, Norman, La Quinta Dunes). As such, for the same money, i would go elsewhere.

Having gotten that off my chest, let me say, its a typical condo lined course. Lots of “waste” areas and a. Good variety of short par 4s, long par 4s, short par 5s, long par 5s,, short par 3s and longer par 3s. The fairways were in good shape and all but the 1st and 10th greens were good (I dont know what’s going on with those but they are in bad shape).

If you can get on Stadium or La Quinta Mountain for the same money, I would go there first.

Mix it up with members

The Norman at PGA West is fun and challenging, don’t let FWY height throughout fool you! Good stand of grass, Bermuda in well on greens, good bunkers too!

Greens speed average but very consistent and fun to play!

Great Course with great pace of play

First time playing this track. I enjoyed it and will be back before too long. I'll be a lot wiser next time and will probably make better decisions on some of the tees. GolfNow makes it hard to purchase a membership in PGAW when you can find discounted tee times via GolfNow.

good playable course

The Norman course is the most friendly of the PGA courses in my opinion. You still must have some strategy to avoid the hazards, however. Pace has always been very good there.

Excellent course conditions. Greens rolled true and the speed was fair. Course fit my eye and I’m sure it will for all of you as well. Well worth the price.

Fair, not much drama

We like the PGA Greg Norman course because it is straightforward, what you see is what you get. That being said, it is flat and many holes look alike, so if you desire a lot of variety, you will be disappointed. It is very fair, desert areas are quite forgiving, and you can get a resort roll back into the fairway. We did not get to enjoy the restaurant afterwards as they were prepping for a special event.

Not the experience expected

For an expensive PGA course we experienced a lower level of service than at any other we've golfed. Not friendly or helpful. Seemed to have an air about them that showed superiority but didn't show it in their welcome or service.

Beautiful course with great views but for the money there are a lot of other courses to choose from!

Nice compliment to the others

The Norman course is the most desert-y of the PGA West courses, with no real rough to speak of, but rather fairway that runs directly into the desert area. The desert nature + the undulating greens are the defense on this course.

A really good layout that is most always in great condition. Fun little clubhouse and grill.

Greens are perfect, true and fast.

Rosie at the pro shop was very courteous and efficient.
The Greg Norman staff is much nicer and more efficient than the staff at the Stadium/Nicklaus Tournament.
Golf course and greens are currently spectacular; lets hope that they stay that way

Norman

Rode the Blues (6671/72.8/133) with Mike and Steve in 4H. The weather was partly cloudy, WINDY and around 65. The course is in immaculate shape.

The tee boxes were lush, level and very nicely maintained.

The fairways were generous in size and lush. Well maintained with few unfixed divots.

Not much rough as the fairways go immediately to desert scape on this course. The only grass maintained higher than the fairways is a strip around the sand traps.

The sand traps are plentiful and were nicely maintained with good quality sand. Green side bunkers are deep and large.

The large greens were firm and QUICK. Best greens I have putted on this golf eason so far.

The customer service is always good here. Complementary bottled water in the ice chest, and the cart gal was out making the rounds. Nice grass range with complimentary balls, nice sand/chipping and practice putting areas that closely resembled the on course conditions. Good GPS on carts. Recommended.

Tough Greens TIght Fairways

Love this course, very challenging.. if you are off fairway you are in the hard sandy area, not too bad to hit off. Like the fact you can drive the cart most anywhere. Pro shop had lots of selection. Practice was very close, had a chipping and a putting area as well. Greens were tricky, but rolled well. Some subtle breaks.

PGA West Greg Norman

Wonder good course, great value. Only nrlegative would be a lack of a ranger in the afternoon. Having a ranger would speed up play ensuring all the ability to finish.
