About
Located on the shorefront of Southampton Parish, the Port Royal Golf Course is one of the most frequented public golf courses in Bermuda and it is even known as being one of Jack Nicklaus' favorites. Robert Trent Jones designed this 18-hole course, which hosts the Bermuda Open Championship every year. Doglegs and wind are just some of the factors that will challenge golfers on this course. The signature hole is the scenic and rather infamous 16th, situated precariously atop craggy cliffs that overlook the Atlantic Ocean. The hole requires a nearly perfect shot in order to reach the green. Port Royal Golf Course has garnered such a following that some golfers reserve starting time a year in advance.

Tough and pricey course
Played twice in one week. We were advised by our hotel, who made the first tee time, that our fees were to be $110 (because of guest day). A week later when we showed up to play, we found out prices went up to $135. For the pricey $135 - range balls were not even included!! Also disappointed to find that it was cart path only. This should have been advertised. Elevation changes made cart path only rules a real pain and slowed play considerably.
Second round was booked through GolfNow which saved us $20 for a later tee time, bringing it more in line with typical golf course resort fees, but cart path only rules were still in effect. GolfNow should notify golfers of that fact before booking.

Played Port Royal just after Labor Day
Stunning views- Friendly staff- very nice course layout-greens recently aerorated so it was bumpy. Definitely will go back to Port Royal GC again.

painfully slow greens, impossible rough, great views
Nice layout and spectacular views, but this fell far short of a premium resort course. I would play the other courses on the island for a much better value.
The greens were painfully slow, apparently having been top dressed a few weeks ago - my course recovers much faster than that. The biggest challenge is the rough which is a loose knitted mat of grass. The ball drops into it and can't be seen except from directly above. We lost so many balls even when we tracked them carefully.
The bunkers were easy to play out of, but clearly hadn't been maintained with grass growing around the edges of many of them.
Loved the snack shack.

Beautiful Course. Slow Pace
Course was beautiful and we were excited to play. Front 9 were wonderful. However, incredibly, they allow people to play only the back 9 so from 10-18 we wound up with about 3-4 twosomes in front of us and waited every hole for multiple parties to tee off. Really hampered what started off as a wonderful experience.

A true gem!
Stunning views, challenging layout. Not your traditional island layout and for a public venue, amazingly maintained and staffed by very helpful people at every customer touchpoint. Deceptively long for the scorecard distance with lots of seriously uphill holes. A very playable and enjoyable track.

Great golf experience
Port Royal is a gem, a great layout with beautiful views. The greens were recently cored and seeded so they were slow and in a state of recovery when we played. The staff was friendly and welcoming as always.

Fairways in great condition, couldn’t say the same about the greens, hadn’t been rolled or cut in what looked and played like weeks. Everything else was great tho, lovely staff and great bev cart convenience

Double Bogey
Course conditions have deteriorated since I played last year.
Greens were bumpy and hadn’t been mowed in 2(?) days.
Little or no sand in traps.
Total rip-off for $150.
Probably won’t play again next year.
