Roxburghe
Brilliant course, absolute fantastic experience.
Only thing missing is a course map as there a lot of blind approaches.
But this did not affect great day
Best in Boders
A lot of construction work is being carried out at the hotel and clubhouse, this didn’t affect the visit one bit.
Fairways were in immaculate condition which every ball on them you had a perfect lie. Greens had been worked on and sanded, although they run true, was difficult to judge. Scenery was breathtaking throughout the day.
One thing that was lacking was a course or hole map, which would improve your score immensely. Saying that, it did not deflect the pleasure I had playing the Roxburgh,e, which I wouldn’t hesitate to book and play again.
Nice resort course with interesting variety of holes
Good layout and fun to play. Greens aren't very good just yet with winter treatment still evident
The course was excellent in layout and condition.
Due to building work, there was no club house, so food and drink could only be had in the hotel, where prices were expensive.
Excellent value for golf.
Great course for real golfers.
Received a warm welcome, but unfortunately due to refurbishment the pro shop was closed and the coffee machine was out of use. So on to the golf. There was quite a few maintenance projects on the go like bunker reconstruction and some turfing taking place but all the greens staff were friendly.
A few of the walking areas were roped off to protect the turf round the tees and greens which is commonplace at most clubs this time of year. A few trees had been blown down after the recent storms as well.
The course itself from a playing perspective is fantastic in its design and natural setting and it’s degree of difficulty from your chosen tees (I played off the whites) I’m not a big hitter so I struggled on the front nine but faired much better on the inward half. The wind was blowing a fair bit as well.
All the par fives especially the 14th are cracking. It was very quiet the day I played and I booked it on Golfnow for only £23 which was a bargain. The fairways and the greens were impressive for the time of year.
I would definitely recommend it, and I will hopefully get the chance to play it again.
Excellent test
As always greens and fairways very good condition especially as this is a parkland course in the middle of winter
Enjoyable course
For 25 quid this is a really great inland course in great shape. They really care about the course and it’s well worth playing. Lots of good holes although a bit hilly. If you can get a hot deal here it’s one of the best bargains in Scotland along with Monifieth (medal)
Best course in the borders
Played on new years eve and the course was the wettest I have seen it. One winter green because summer green had two massive puddles. That said, the course was still in fantastic condition for the time of year. This is a proper golf course, a true test with numerous memorable holes. I love playing it, as do my wife and sons. The bar was shut, but it was dec 31 and there is loads of covid about so that was fair.
If you're unsure whether to play, book it - you won't regret it.
Superb championship course
Played 30/12/21 course in superb condition for the time of year- excellent drainage considering the amount of rain the previous week.
Great layout, no poor holes, several outstanding ones notably 5th, 10th and especially the feature 14th. Excellent and varied par 3's. Difficult 18th into wind and low sun. Practice green ideal for what lay ahead, and for once no lost balls as I played sensibly - not long but straight, although can imagine that the rough would definitely be penal later in the year. Fantastic value at winter rates . If in the area would definitely recommend.
Roxburghe revisited
Last played here 20 yrs ago with fond memories-chose a perfect weather day and course in great condition with exception of slowish greens and layout even better than I remembered with epic landscaping and spectactular undulations in the holes with not a poor hole on the course.
The best 35 pounds Ive spent anywhere on a round of golf in the UK , period .
If only I lived closer it would be my home course !
Great Course
Second visit to Roxburghe. Played well for first 7 holes but the course took control around the turn, as it did last year. Managed to claw back some semblance of an okay’ish score by the 18th. Need to be wary of the many well-placed, deep fairway and green side bunkers. Fairways generally quite wide but undulating. Whole course in great condition and looking forward to returning next year. A long course, even off the yellow tees. A great golfing challenge. JOHN, HI 11.7
Roxburghe September 2021
We had a great day out at the Roxburghe. The course is spread over a large property with some long walks between greens and tees.
The condition of the course was excellent, ideally the greens could be quicker but given some of the slopes on them it could make the greens too hard for some.
I love the layout, every hole is interesting, without a weak hole. Lots of space off the tee for bad shots, just stay out of the bunkers.
Highly recommended at the discounted rate.
Great test and beautiful views.
The whole experience was fantastic, the friendliness of the staff, the way we were treated.
The condition and layout of the course matched my expectations.
The only slight and I mean only slight comment I would make, was the pace of the greens, they ran true, just a little lacking in pace.
However the course is in great shape, a real pleasure to play and would recommend to others with no hesitation.
Very good course.
The ladies tees could be marked better especially on the 10th hole
Great course
Under new ownership since last played the course remains a gem. Big wide fairways with well protected but big greens. All was immaculately presented. Had lunch prior to playing which was served in the smallish club house and was good. Hotel being extended. Once completed and marketed unsure the effect upon the availability of the course or whether the clubhouse will cope
