St. Boswells Golf Club
About
The original course was laid out by William Park, Musselburgh Open Golf Champion, who wrote in his brief 'the turf is very good and resembles very much the turf to be found on seaside courses'.
The only hiccup in the Club's history took place in 1948 when the river Tweed rose some 1 feet above normal level, once in a century flood, and so much damage was done that the Club was forced to close down. Ten years later the Club was reformed on a temporary lease and was redesigned by John Slade, Duddingston. Play resumed in 1958 and through strenuous efforts by a few members an with financial support from the local community the Club flourished. The fortunes of the Club changed dramatically in 1979 when the course was purchased out right and a few years later in 1985 a new clubhouse was built. Unlike other Border courses the terrain is flat and presents few difficulties other than the River Tweed, which is defined as a 'lateral water hazard'. It is a delightful holiday course with a SSS of 66.

lovely course
a nice course with a few challenging holes and beautiful views. a hidden gem. will definitely return
Great 9 hole course.
A great nine hole course on the bank of the River Tweed. Excellent condition. The course is level and makes for easy walking, but judging distances provides a good challenge. Very helpful secretary and friendly welcoming members.
Lovely wee course
Nice 9 hole course with a few tricky holes. Especially when your next to the water. The only problem was that I got beat lol
Value
Value for money but alot of slow play on the course and lads in football kits which shouldn't be allowed
A Wee Gem
Well laid out and maintained 9 hole course by the riverside. Mostly flat starting on an elevated 1st hole and second tee. Some challenging holes due to locations of trees and bunkers. Wonderful scenery, friendly players and good conditions on the day.
Definitely the best recognised 9 hole Golf Course in the Borders
Well worth a visit, great wee Course that plays alongside side the River Tweed. Secretary, Keith Morgan made us very welcome & we thoroughly enjoyed the Course.
Great course
This is a great course, was showery when I played but that didn't spoil the occasion. It's well looked after and there's an honesty box so if the staff have gone for the day you can just pop some cash in. Only thing I didn't like was the phone call telling me they don't want to use the golf now app for bookings, of really rather use the app as it's way more convenient.
Lovely course
This is where I played my first round of golf, it's a lovely place and not to challenging with forgiving fairways. I will play here again but I was told not to book through Golf Now as they don't want to use the app anymore which is a shame as it makes booking really easy. There is an honesty box if the clubhouse is closed.
Gem
Having played here before I knew what I was getting I always love a quick game at St Boswells as it is so relaxing strolling alone side of the river tweed for most of the game
If the weather is kind
I will be back again
Thanks
Great experience
Very hilly course and a good challenge. Worth playing for the views. Just played 9 holes. I am a member of a hilly course but this was something else! Made it to the club afterwards where a couple of members and Anne were very friendly. Recommended.
Lovely 9 hole course
Great end to 2021. As per other reviews lovely 9 hole course by the river Tweed. Feature hole definitely the par 3 2nd ... Deceptively large and subtle greens. When played burn running across fairways 5 & 8, lying water on the 9th. due to the amount of rain previously ,but otherwise greens and fairways in excellent condition. Helps to hit straight or a fade on outward holes 3 -6 out and 7-9 in as River on the left going out and fields on the left coming in. .Friendly members on the course and in the carpark. Clubhouse changing room open but bar shut so can't comment on all facilities.. Excellent value for money. Would definitely recommend if in the area
Muddy
Course was very muddy but didn’t stop my enjoyment
St Boswell
Stopped here on our way to Peebles for 9 holes , what a lovely course set in lovely countryside well worth the visit even if the clubhouse was closed
Lovely setting
Course runs besides the river Tweed, with views over to the Eildon hills of Melrose...making it a particularly pretty location.
