Excellent course
I've played Rolling Hills dozens of times and it is always in excellent condition. Friendly staff and great practice facility. There are a number of blind shots but once you know where to hit it's no problem. Only caveats are that it can get windy and the fairway grass is dormant in the winter.
Thought I was in Nebraska
Course is called the Links at Rolling Hills. All the holes are surrounded by tall native grass, have to miss fairway by alot to get in it. Some greens have extreme slope. Course in great shape but difficult. Nice campground behind casino, also truck parking. Great promotions at casino.
Great course in the middle of no where
I had heard about this course from my friends that live in Redding, so on my way back down to L.A i decided to play it. It was around 1pm on a Tuesday and no one out. The staff were friendly and helpful. The weather was great for golf. With no one out there it was perfect for a 1st timer as there is lots of blind tee shots and carries, so you could drive up and scout your line and landing area. The fairways are big but not huge, so you need to be straight off the tee. This would be a tough course for a high marker or 1st timer if you didn't know where you were going.
The course was in great condition, a few more signs to know where you are going would be helpful as you can not even see other holes sometimes. . The greens were pure and a good speed. Definitely would play again.
A Daly Masterpiece
I have played this course several times and each time I find it even better. Even though it was early spring the course was in excellent condition. It was had to find divots in fairways or on the greens. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The 2 newbees I brought also thought the course was great. I love the links style and this course is one of the best examples on the west coast. The driving range and practice areas were also in top condition. It is well worth the drive to play this course.
What a Dream
The Course is the Best I have ever played. You will not find a dead area of grass on the course anywhere. No invasive grass anywhere. I don't know how they do it but the course looks like a painting. You just have to go and try it for yourself.
One of my favorites
It had been too long since my last round here. I had almost forgotten how much fun this place could be. The multiple tees give players the option of choosing one to fit their game. I'm always less than amused by those who insist on playing the John Daly tees and fail to reach the front tees. This course is long enough without adding unnecessary length.
Golf carts are included with your green fees due mainly to the distance between holes and on those warm summer days, you'll appreciate the wheels.
The greens are the most entertaining for me. They play fast and have tons of movement to them.
Amazing Golf Course
I have played this course over 5 times and its one of my all time favorites and is one of the best values in California. This course was designed by John Daly so it plays long and hard. I do not recommend this course of a beginner unless you play from the closest tees to the green.
This course is well maintained is a professional golf course. The fairways and greens are outstanding and would be expected at a Private club and not at public links. The course has wide fairways but if you miss the fairway, you will lose your ball due to the heather grass and native grasses.
There are multiple tees to play from and I have played them all and shot between 77 and 85 between most of the tees. The par 3s play very long so try to play the tees that you feel that you will have the most fun. This course can be exhausting due to the difficulty of the length, rough and greens.
My father in law has started playing from the front tees and he has a great time whereas when he was at the normal tees he was so frustrated from loosing balls, forced carries and not having a chance to make par on many holes. Tee it forward for a better round.
The pro shop is outstanding and carries a lot of top name gear. The food is great when in operation.
I have played the course multiple times and its never crowded due to it location.
This course is one that would be very difficult to walk but doable with a push cart. However, the course will be hard enough as it is without added work.
