McCormick Woods Golf Course
About
Since opening in 1987, McCormick Woods Golf Club has garnered titles including "Best Course" and "Most Enjoyable Course" by Golf Digest and Golfweek. It is one of only 10 courses in the state of Washington that are Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuaries. The stunning layout features natural lakes hidden among beautiful fir and cedar trees. Don't let the scenery distract you though, it's one of the most difficult golf courses in the area. There are significant elevation changes throughout and you'll have to face the occasional blind shot. Though the golf course is challenging, there are five sets of tees so players of all skill levels can play to their abilities. McCormick Woods Golf Club also has a practice facility with a driving range, two putting greens, and an area devoted to chipping, pitching, and bunker play.

GREENS WERE IN POOR CONDITION
IT WAS A 5 HOUR ROUND WHICH WAS SOMEWHAT UNDERSTANDABLE BECAUSE IT WAS SUNNY AND 70 DEGREES ON A SUNDAY AFTERNOON. THE COURSE IS UNDERGOING SOME RENOVATIONS. A LOT OF TREES BEING TAKEN DOWN. WHICH I THINK IMPROVED THE PLAY ABILITY AND LOOKS OF THE COURSE BUT FOR A $70 ROUND THE GREENS WERE IN TERRIBLE SHAPE.
Course improvements
Read some of the reviews on Saturday night prior to playing Sunday wishing I hadn't made the tee time. Once my son and I got there the greens were a little bumpy but not horrible. It is spring time and courses need to do their improvements this time of year. We enjoyed ourselves! There was a lot of trees cut down and they do have a lot of cleanup yet to do. Give it a month and I would bet the greens will get much nicer with the trees down and letting some sunshine in.
Great Price
The staff was great and the food was great. The course is in bad shape. The greens are almost un putt able. Most were bare or bumpy. However the price was good.
This is the reason for the low review of the course. The staff was excellent.
T
Has been better
The pace was super slow. I'm not saying that I'm a walk up and hit the perfect shot immediately guy but over 4 1/2 hours is a bit slow. The biggest negative of yesterday was the rough greens and construction zone I was in all day. Give it some time before you go to get all of the tree removal equipment and debris removed. I have played here several times and this was not what I was expecting. The rough greens are the reason I suspect they removed so many trees to allow additional sunlight to get through. It was like a different course now but not the same premier facility I've played before. It was still a decent vie on a Friday morning for $20. The course would have been better to manage the construction hole by hole vice trying to take on so much at the same time. The wood piles are 20 feet high in many spots.
TIMBER
Hundreds of trees in progress of being removed. Most areas are not in the actual way of playing, perhaps hoping to widen the fairways and enlarge greens, or improve airflow to assist drying. Greens were absolutely horrible, practice putting on your street to get use to bumps, divets and sandtraps on the green. Many Tboxes are rolling and uneven. I played here abut 9 months ago and other than the tree removal now, the coarse is the same. For the price, go to Gold Mountain.
Greens and fairways are in great shape
There has been a lot of tree removal done on the entire course, which opened up a few of the holes, but mainly let in some sunlight to some of the course. There is still a lot of cleanup to do, but it isn't affecting the course play, which is really good for early in the year.
Future looks bright
Excellent day for golf, golf course was easy to find after commute from the Federal Way area. Beautiful Clubhouse facilities and friendly workers. From recent reviews noticed the same with the tree clearing, should improve the course. Early in the season, but the greens were in bad shape. Majority of putts were put off line by the bumpy greens. But enjoyed the layout of the course and was fairly easy to walk.
McCormack Woods this spring.
I enjoyed the round, they had removed a lot of trees and it will be interesting to see how this changes the rough when all the piles of limbs and the equipment tracks are dealt with.
I was disappointed when I found that I paid the going rate plus the booking fee to get this round and could have saved money by calling the course directly.
I'll learn from this mistake.
Great Value
Fantastic course. Challenging, pretty, quiet. Staff working to make it even better.
changes at the course
I have been playing McCormick Woods for over 15 years, but what I saw last Friday was just astonishing. The course has been cleared of trees to the total of 450 or more. It was definitely needed. The tees and greens were dying quickly. I didn't recognize several holes. All in all it was still a good day.
A Must Play!
Would have given 5 stars on conditions but the greens were a little soft and chewed up due to recent overnight frozen conditions (but it's that time of year so no big deal). Given the conditions of the greens I felt they putted well. The rest of the course was fantastic!
Great course!
I've played here a few times before and have been happy each time. Challenging course but it has great views and they keep it good condition.
poor day, great time!
A poor day to start, weather improved, the course was in great condition! Timber's are in removal stage threw out the course, still worth the drive and time! wild life on 4 out of 5 hole's, 5 star day!
Trees
There were a lot of trees taken out of the course and the course is more open. However, there still needs to be more work done on the course. Still early in the golf season so the greens haven't filled in yet therefore the greens were pretty bumpy.
Work in Progress
Cleared out alot of trees around course now time to get it picked and cleaned up.
Championship potential
This course has a great layout. They just recently removed 600 trees to open up the holes. It looks totally different than what I used to be playing with. Once the reservation is complete it has the potential to be a championship golf course and maybe one day host a PGA Tour event. ryan more has a stake in this golf course and with the recent renovations they can easily extend the golf course to 8000 yards or more if they wanted to. The greens have some way to go but overall it's a good experience
A pleasant weekday round
I've played McCormick Woods many times and had a nice round on a Wednesday afternoon. The weather was great for late October. Its a long walk--being in a housing development there are several lengthy walks between holes but overall very walkable. The course plays longer but easier after all of the early fall rain that we've had--no roll in the fairways but the greens hold a shot. Great value with a Golf Now hot deal.
surprise
I hadn't played this course for many years (possibly over ten years ago), as I had a memory of it being very unfriendly to golfers that sometimes stray a little off center cut. I must have been remembering the wrong course, because this track was a delight to play. Yes, some OB as you wind your way among houses, but not unnecessarily restrictive.. I will be going back to this course more often.
Ritz cracker
Beautiful setting, rabbits and deer all over. Huge sloped greens. Greens had recently been aerated and filled with sand so putting was compromised on occasion by aeration holes! We walked the course. Not for the out of shape golfer!! Very enjoyable, will return!!
Needs work
Cart path needs to be repaired, the greens were really sandy other than that a nice course
