McCormick Woods Golf Course
About
Since opening in 1987, McCormick Woods Golf Club has garnered titles including "Best Course" and "Most Enjoyable Course" by Golf Digest and Golfweek. It is one of only 10 courses in the state of Washington that are Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuaries. The stunning layout features natural lakes hidden among beautiful fir and cedar trees. Don't let the scenery distract you though, it's one of the most difficult golf courses in the area. There are significant elevation changes throughout and you'll have to face the occasional blind shot. Though the golf course is challenging, there are five sets of tees so players of all skill levels can play to their abilities. McCormick Woods Golf Club also has a practice facility with a driving range, two putting greens, and an area devoted to chipping, pitching, and bunker play.

Good Course--Poor Management
Our foursome enjoyed the course but had some concerns about management decisions. Following our foursome there were 3 singles and a two some. We allowed singles to play through but then realized we would never finish our round by doing this. A call to the pro shop produced no help.
It was a busy hot Friday. No beverage cart and no water on the course. It was sad to see what was once a first rate course has dropped to second tier. Back to Gold Mountain today.
Too many trees taken out.....
The lay-out is the same as ever - challenging and all. But in my opinion, they removed way too many trees.......it's just not the same McCormick as it used to be (and not in a good way)
Great course
This course compares well to the best resort courses that I have played. The condition was excellent. Midweek price was a steal.
Tough Greens
I scored horribly but had an awesome time. Some of the greens are extremely difficult if you don't land just right.
Nice Condition
This course was in very nice condition. Greens smooth and tee to green well maintained. Native fescue grass gives a post card type view. Tree removal has made improvements to turf. Great practice areas. Nice bar to visit after golf.
Beautiful well kept course
First time playing Mcormick Woods, I will definitely be going back!
Good overall
Good overall. A little pricy almost $75 with a cart for 1 person
Great conditions from tee to green. Lots of fun to play!!
I took my kids and a friend out to McCormick Woods last week and I was amazed at the condition of the turf from tee to green. The fairways were lush, greens were very smooth and probably 10+ on the speed meter - perfect for rolling putts, really fun to putt for me and my kids!!
The staff was very friendly. Even the course maintenance workers stopped and greeted us and asked if we were enjoying ourselves!!! My daughter left her wedge on one of the holes and the superintendent, Paul, stopped what he was doing and drove back to get it for us!!! He told me about the renovations they've gone through with strategic tree removal and how it's improved the turf conditions. Very friendly, I was glad he took time from his work to make us feel welcomed.
Sherry in the golf shop was also very friendly and helpful. Great customer service!!
We saw at least a dozen deer. Had a great meal in the restaurant after (highly recommend the mac n cheese!!). What a great deal for kids, too! They have a good junior rate!
It was a great walk - we are adding this to our list of regular stops!!
great course
Loved it. Difficult but fair. Top 25 in Washington.
Improving... Keep going!
This course has improve by leaps and bounds- Even the rough has been cut so that the weekend golfer can save bogey. Parts of the fairway used to be so dry and hard, a well planned and executed golf shot would bounce into into the hazard.
Greens are consistent and are just waiting for you to one-putt.
I am writing this review to encourage people to come out and try the course. If there are enough of us golfers, they might kick the food up a notch!
Cheers and Fore!!
On the Improve
Greens are much improved over last year and are the best they've been in years as a result of personnel changes in maintenance staff. The course maintains that the 2700+ trees removed in 2014 have improved the turf conditions, but that was not the case last year for the greens. Used to be one of the most beautiful courses around. Not as attractive visually anymore, but the course is probably more playable for the average golfer. I would recommend they remove more stumps, etc. They've had a year and a half to do so. Also not water the turf as heavily. Too much casual water in the mornings and after rainy days.
It's still a good course that is on the improve from the changes.
Impressive course
The course is in excellent condition. The greens were firm and fast and in excellent shape. I play here often but I'm amazed at the improvements I see every time I come out. Staff very friendly. Keep up the good work!
Nice track
The greens had been recently punched. Other than that course was in great condition. Staff very friendly and helpful. Pay attention to hole layout as there are a few holes that could get you in trouble especially on the back 9.
Perfect Day for golf
Course was in magnificent shape. Consistent greens, great pace of play and very friendly staff.
McCormick Woods
Nice course, good shape. The staff was great, I bought 2 tokens for range balls and somehow lost them, they gave me 2 more.
Improving slowly
Course turf conditions were good (bordering on great). There were a couple greens with obvious disease problems is small patches. The biggest issue was not blowing the greens to remove pine tree debris. Greens near pine trees were covered with little tiny pine cones, which makes them mostly unplayable. The main thing that holds MW back is their inability to manage a tee sheet effectively,. This means you'll see groups like this: 4, 2, 1,1, 4, 5, 1,1 3,1. Pace of play can be a big problem, especially on the front nine where the slope only rewards perfect shots. Carts are newer model electrics, but expect to pay upwards of $17 pp for 18 holes. The restaurant is good, but equally expensive. My $30 green fee was $37 with GN fees included, $17 for cart and $15 for simple breakfast. I also blew through a sleeve of ProV1's in the 1st/2nd holes only. Prior to this I had played three full rounds with the same ball @ Northshore and similar courses. The wind here is typically very strong and can have dramatic effects on your game. I also found the local homeowners to be a problem, many of whom like to steal clean and do other noisy construction projects. One older gentleman decided he wanted to walk the cart path with his wife, and proceeded to insult and admonish me when I came around the corner in a cart while checking voicemail. While there was never any remote danger, these kinds of on course conflicts between nearby residential owners and golfers are never welcome. This particular encounter ruined my day. This is not the first time something like this has happened at MW.
Recommended, with some reservations. Until RMG and MW addresses their general maintenance issues, tee sheet and pace of play issues, and deals effectively with residential encroachment issues, as much as the course is on the verge of becoming a great property, I think that for the money you could do a lot better. Trophy Lake and Gold Mountain would be worth considering.
Great place for weddings!
Was very disappointed in the shape of the course. There had been plenty of hot and dry weather before the little bit of rain the night before I played. There were mushy spots on the fairways and in front of the greens. One of the guys we were paired with had his ball plug about 4 inches into the ground.
Before we started our round, we were on the practice green putting and got kicked off due to a wedding. I thought this was a golf course, but apparently weddings are more important than golfers.
The only good thing I can say is I did not pay $70 a piece to walk, otherwise I would have been really angry.
Great round .... Except for the trees
McCormick was my fave course for over a decade ... Until they cut down all the fir trees last year. It completely changed the woodsy character of the course. Now houses are more visible, more sound, etc. It is still an excellent challenge .... Just no longer visually appealing, nor particularly "Northwest" any longer ... Just like one of dozens of other nice courses that all look vaguely the same. Nothing wrong with the golf experience, though -- just no longer "special" to me ....
Perfect Day
We had not played here recently but remembered it to be a great course and we were not disappointed. The course conditions were very good even though greens were recently punched. The openness from tree removal made it a more interesting experience and helped with the overall play. Would recommend course to others and will play it again. Staff very friendly.
Thank you for choosing us and for your comments.

Great Work
I have played this course multiple times over the years and the current conditions are excellent. Yes they removed trees and opened the course up but frankly that's what it needed to bring back this course to the outstanding conditions. With a new management perspective and definitely a new revamped grounds team this course is only getting even better. The staff are receptive to your needs and suggestions to make your experience evend better than expected. I play other courses in the area and around the state but this course makes you feel like you are part of their immediate family. All ammentities from the golf shop, restaurant , and snack bar are by far above regular standards. If you haven't played here in a while come back and see the changes or if you have never played here before you will want to come back for sure!
We believe we are continuing to be better than before, appreciate you noticing and hope to see you in the future.
Sincerely,

I am sorry you feel that way. We still believe McCormick Woods is a special place even with the trees we had to cut down in order to maintain the course conditions we expect of ourselves. The course is feeling more natural again every day and we hope you will give us another shot soon.
Sincerely,
