Reviews
Spring play
Course was damp resulting in a necessary carts being restricted to cart path only. As a result, the pace of play was impacted. In addition, as a senior player all that extra walking to and from the cart path was energy draining. Also it was my 1st round of the season, so shot making, at times was really challenging.
The staff was outstanding, cheerful, helpful and service oriented. The course operation manager personally interview us in the parking lot as we were loading our clubs in the car. Later as we were having a end of round beverage in the outdoor patio area, the course operation manager sat an chatted with us and supplied and added beverage for us.
The day at this course was great!
Total Eclipse Golf
Played on an overcast 60 degree day that was set for the Total Eclipse of the Sun. The Eclipse happen on the 16th hole were play was suspended 5 to 6 minutes to take in this natural wonder. ( Very Cool) I was very suprised that the course was 90 Degree Rule. If it were me, I would not, as the conditions were still wet and soggy on the fairways and you can visually see the water and mud come to the surface under the golf cart tires. Plus there was noticable temporary damage and ruts from driving on the course. Otherwise, pace of play was good ( not too many golfers ), the tee boxes were a little chewed up, but the fairways, sand traps and greens were all great. The greens had been aerated recently and were very firm. No divot marks on the greens and I only managed to make two on a round I shot an 84. The Course plays longer when there is no roll on Tee-shots on wet soggy fairways, so I was happy with my play. Friendly staff, nice layout and I look forward to returning soon to play it again. Note: the 9th hole is not a Par 5, while I did not confirm , it appears to have been shorted to make room for a new building. ( I found not the hard way: blowing 50 yards past a concealed green from my well played tee shot) .
Nice course
Very nice course, great value, worth of the 4 hours driving
Improving
Arrowhead is generally on the uptick after looking like a complete disaster a couple years ago.
This golf course has one of the nicest layouts of any public course in WNY but the conditioning is just not good. It's not as bad as it was 2-3 years ago, but the greens are chewed up, the tee boxes are unkempt, the fairways are patchy, and the rough is too high. At $45 it is acceptable, but this should be a high end public golf course.
Big improvement since Larry arrived.
Larry and his team have their eye on the big picture. The green on 13 best shape in years. They all pitch in so you have a clean and well groomed course to enjoy. Two thumbs up.
Very Enjoyable
The Course layout is excellent and accommodating to all skill levels. Spent time with Manager (Jeff) and new ownership has put staff in place to make this a high end venue. They have a new Course Superintendent and can’t wait to play when I visit back home this summer. Food is excellent, staff friendly and Course is pure joy to play!
Not what it use to be
Price to play does not reflect course conditions and amenities. Management seems more interested in investing revenue toward hosting weddings. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens all need TLC. Golfers are not allowed in the clubhouse and are restricted to the outdoor snack shop and porta-potty. Golf cart battery was in the process of dying 1/2 way through the round and had to trade cart w/ GPS for cart without GPS. Carts are barely clean and many have ripped seats, etc. Good thing pace of play was so slow that there was time to switch carts and still wait 10 min. at the turn to tee off…there were at least 2 groups waiting behind our group. Signage in parking lot clearly reads golf attire required no t-shirts, but patrons in t-shirts and gym shorts were seen on course.
A Shame
A beautiful layout that has gone to seed. Ignored and sandless bunkers. Terrible irrigation. Burnt greens. “Heather” that is overgrown crabgrass. Owners all in on wedding and banquets at cost to golf. New 9th green has a cart path directly in front of green? Ridiculous
Lost the course
$54 for these conditions is a crime! Irrigation was lost and so were the FW’s. The new owners were greedy charging premium price, crowding the course and having such poor playing conditions. The certainly are not following COVID 19 procedures either. Could be a nice track, however pace of play and course conditions takes it off my list!
18th Best Finishing Hole in Area
Wonderful layout. Fun to play. 18th hole is challenging and fun. Best hole played in area. Maintenance seems to be lacking this year. Prices dropped questions is course is doing well. Staff is very friendly.
Excellent Course. Fairways Need Watering
Arrowhead Golf Club is an interesting and challenging course, that must be outstanding to play when not in a summer drought. The course has plenty of obstacles (water, sand, fescue) that make it challenging for golfers of any level. Unfortunately right now, with the lack of rain, the fairways are burned out in many places and the fescue is very thin.
Would love to play this course again after either a little more watering, or a wetter summer.
Nice course for a heavy used public
The course has a nice layout and is fun to play for golf outings. Problem is it gets so much play from tournaments that the place is usually beat up pretty bad.
Better than average
This course is moderately challenging and is a great value for any level of play.
