Banchory Golf Club
About
Less than 20 miles from Aberdeen, Banchory Golf Club has a long history of delivering a great parklands golf option to Scotland. Built in 1905 and originally designed by John Souter, Banchory has the antiquity and location to make it a popular outing both for locals, as well as those who have hooked up a Scotland golf package.
Set above the scenic River Dee, Banchory is a scenic par 69 layout that will challenge golfers of all levels. Because while not particularly long at just over 5,801 yards, strategically placed bunkers, mature trees and the waters of the River Dee provide obstacles that can test low handicappers as well as high.
Including a memorable clubhouse, as well as lessons from the club pro, Banchory Golf Club has stood up to the test of time for more than 100 years, and seems to get better every year.

Great inland course
A pleasurable course to play, every one very friendly
Banchory
Nice Course unfortunately only 15 holes playable and because of winter greens some holes shortened in length.
Didn’t play as using fairway mats and some winter greens
Didn’t play as using fairway mats and some winter greens.
This information was not available at time of booking or noted on website!
There was no facility to cancel booking in timescale!
Wasted voucher and cash.
Booked and paid full price to play Edzel only to find out same issues and 4 holes closed
Waste of money on both bookings
Playing if mats and holes closed
We changed course to Edzel after finding initially course was using mats.
We arrived and there were no signs that mats had to be used on fairways! We found out after teeing off and saw others using. We went back and got the mats. Worse was to come when we got to 7/8 hole only to find 4 holes closed.
We were not advised of either issue when checking in!
This wasn’t noted on website at time of booking for ether course. I wasted voucher and money on both courses!
I should be refunded for both bookings!
Well worth a visit
Played for the second time, the first pre-pandemic. Despite the recent rain the course was in good condition and very playable, Friendly welcome and straight out to play, post round food and drinks just what we needed and service excellent. We will certainly play again when visiting the area again.
Really great greens and nice views
Lovely course played for the first time. Nice greens in fantastic condition. Rough not too thick which was helpful considering the amount of holes with out of bounds sections
We may have been lucky but fantastic pace of play from people ahead of us.
The short uphill par 3 seemed a bit gimmicky but apart from that all the holes seemed to be nicely laid out
Friday
This golf course is fantastic. The greens are carpet like and a credit to the green keepers.. I would defo recommend this course.
A nice course in Deeside
Banchory is a nice course to play. We were just unfortunate that it rained all the way round. We carried on regardless as it wasn't cold and not a breath of wind it was the first time my husband had played it and he said he would certainly return but on a dry day. Unfortunately we can't predict the weather in Scotland..
Good greens but fairways burnt.
The greens were in good condition but a bit slow because of the length of the grass. Many of the fairways were scorched due to the recent sunny weather.
No game
Unfortunately the course was closed due to flooding. Can you refund me please.
Banchory a Gem
Nice course only 15 holes allowed to play winter greens . Course in good condition.
Excellent
Great value, tidy fairways and well kept greens.
Some challenging holes but a very fair course for all levels of ability.
A nice welcome at the pro shop and a very friendly clubhouse for visitors.
Course was in excellent condition. Very well maintained. Couldn’t fault the course at all.
Not sure what's happened to a few of the greens as they weren't great for this time of year but apart from that as usual the course is a good test.
