Enjoyable
I play the course about once a year when in the area for vacation. I like the layout of the golf course. With all the humps and bumps it is still wide open and forgiving. It has a good mixture of short risk reward holes with long strait forward holes. Sand traps were well maintained the day I played.. I always look forward to hole 18 as it is a great risk reward hole. A good drive and you can go for the green in 2 if you dare go over the water and sand with a long iron or hybrid. The only complaint or suggestion I have I prefer tee boxes to be closely mowed and some did not seemed to be mowed in a few days. Overall great course I highly recommend.
Maybe a Ranger?
First twilight tee time @ 1:30, followed 3 tee times of regular $ gamers. First 5 some got done in under 4 hrs. The 2nd group was the slow 5 some 4.5 hr + and last 4 took their time because the group in front backed the whole course up. The fairways were lined with mounds but often had players from other fairways in our fairway. Huge greens with a lot of slope but were tracked up pretty good by the time we played. Course was busy today, which is good.
Foul mouthed members
Course was in good shape and staff were pleasant but member players I experienced are rude, arrogant, foul mouthed, disrespectful, discourteous, boisterous, not to mention slow. Won't play there again.
Best in the tri-cities
Overall probably the nicest course in the area. Played all the public courses in one weekend and enjoyed this the most. Was a little slow but a nice day on the weekend, it's what you can expect. Friendly enough staff and the beer cart girl was on point!
Spring Golf
For early spring golf course was in good condition. A very windy day not many out playing so it was under 4 hrs.
Great course, usually sunny weather
The course was in good shape for March 8th, to bad it was rainy. I had 2 issues, slow play on the back 9 and we started 20 minutes late because there were not enough carts.
Good condition for cold weather golf
Played with temp in the mid 30's. Started after noon and walked the course in less than 3 hours. Course in pretty good condition for winter play. Just simple fun dink around golf. Good exercise
Well maintained.
The course is well maintain. The staff is friendly and eger to make your day a great one. Greens are fast.
False. Greens are NOT fast in any way, shape, or form. And I've had multiple experiences with unfriendly and unhelpful staff, sounds like you got lucky.
Great day at a great course
Thanks to golfnow for the great price. Great course at any price. Green and clean. Loved it!
Great course at any price huh? What about $500? Okay, that's absurd, but would it be a great course at $100? That's what it almost costs on a weekend with cart and a small bucket of balls to warm up. Obviously golf now helps offset that, but not that much during the busy periods. In my opinion, this course isn't worth $1/hole any more.
Good deal.
I play this course fairly regular. It is in good shape right now. The greens were punched around the 12 th of Sept. 2013 and have been sanded pretty well. Probably 3 greens were bumpy from the punches. The rough was thick and healthy. Water is in play on 5 holes with no forced carry over water. The down side to this course really use to be that it was over crowded, it has not been packed in this year. Rounds have been 3 1/2 to 4 hours.
The labor intensive work could use some help. Weeds in the bunker edges, grass clipping piles, some ruts from equipment and the such. None of which hurt the play just the beauty.
We only paid $19 per person for 18 holes and a cart with a noon tee time. Aeration discounted. Can't beat it.
You make a great point when you say it has not been packed this year. That makes me laugh, since that is a direct effect of exactly some of the things I try and tell people about the course. It is no longer as nice as it used to be, the greens are bumpy and inconsistent (moreso than just after aeration periods), and on top of that the staff is completely and utterly offensive and useless. It's a shame, because that course used to be great to learn to play golf on, but at the rates currently charged and quality of course diminishing each year, it sadly no longer is a good option.
If you don't like side hill lies, stay away or be an expert at hitting the fairways!
We spent a couple days in Richland at one of the great motels in the area; watched all the activity around the marina just out back of Columbia Point. CP is a great venue, full of berms and water; some high elevation shots and very close to shopping and restaurants. You'll love CP and the other Tri City courses, of which only Sun Willows subscribes to Golf Now. Where are you Horn Rapids and Canyon Lakes?
Fun course, not as hard as it looks from the outside.
With the rolling mounded sides to the fairways, the course looks very challenging until you actually play it. In reality, its a relatively flat course, good for walking. It's well manicured and the greens are soft enough to hold your ball if you get enough loft. The 14th is a good challenge. Its a short par 4 just within the capability of a decent drive but has a bunker guarding the front to catch any miss hits. Overall a fun course and at a decent price range.
Good, not great
I've played this course before. There isn't much to choose from in Richland, and it is close to the hotel we like. I have seen it in better shape, this time out some of the tees had brown spots with no grass, the greens appeared over watered in spots (does no one repair ball marks anymore, even the deep cavernous ones? you can't miss them), and the bunker next to 18 had some of the biggest rocks (not pebbles) I have seen. From the black tees it is 6500 yards, but you can still break 80 there easily. Still, I booked on GolfNow and got on at a good rate, hooked up with another single and played in about 3:45. Would have been even faster but the four old guys in front of us spent a lot of time talking, and not much time focusing on golf.
Good track, just not a great track, but worth what they charged.
A great Tri-Cities value
I live in Western Washington but was in Tri-Cities for work and had the time to play the course. Columbia was a great track and totally worth the GolfNow deal. The pace was fine and the greens were quick and true. It's always enjoyable to golf in the warm eastern Washington weather but it was a fun track
Good course for the money
Some really fun holes. Not overly penalizing. It runs along the freeway for several holes. I enjoyed it overall.
A Very Fun Course
I am not a long hitter and the short par 4s are right up my alley. I high handicapper paradise. The greens were super fast and in great condition. If your a high handicapper like me, I highly recommend this course
Nice course
I enjoy playing the course, but it does get slow. They do not seem to treat people very well when they reserve on golf now.
I will add to your comment that they don't treat people very well period. Our group had reserved ahead of time for an anniversary/vacation and they wouldn't let us go out as a group like they assured me over the phone, then they wouldn't refund our money and were forced to play individually which made the entire experience horrid.
Enjoyable course to play. Very well maintained, and cordial staff.
Nice course, very well maintained. Great GolfNow deal!
slowest non tournament round ever
Couldn't get a cart until our tee time was next, front 9 took 3 hours with no sign of a marshall. Back 9 was faster, people quit because it was so slow.
This reviewer apparently has not played Canyon Lakes which is so much better in every way than Columbia Point (fyi, I play league at CP).
