Aberdour Golf Club
About
Aberdour Golf Club, in Fife, is located 30 miles south of St. Andrews, on the shores of the River Forth. Aberdour was founded in 1896 but didn't start developing a golf course at its current location until 1905. Starting as a nine-hole course, the other nine were added in 1914. Today, the 18 holes cover 5,460 years, spread over land overlooking sea cliffs and on raised beaches.
If you have a habit of slicing, Aberdour won't be a day at the beach. It rewards those who shoot straight and long. A number of holes even run along the River Forth, with views of Edinburgh across the way.
The course begins with two par 3s, not that it's an easy start. The first hole, named Bell House, is 155 yards from an elevated tee down to a rocky promontory. The second, named Firs, is 155 yards, starting from a rocky platform and shooting across a bay to an elevated green set into a steep hillside. The longest hole is the 10th - Ash Tree - the only par 5, 513 yards, starting with a slight dogleg from right to left. If you can get off a good second shot past the marker, you're left with a straight pitch.
Aberdour Golf Club welcomes visitors throughout the year. Tee reservations for parties can be made directly with the club manager. Starting times are 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and at 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. Sunday times are 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Visitors are not accepted on Saturdays. The course has a clubhouse overlooking the River Forth and the Riverside Lounge.

Aberdour golf club
Outstanding course the first two holes set off the whole place with great views over the forth to Edinburgh.
Can’t wait to play again
Good course with some truly standout holes
The first 3 holes, which play towards / alongside the Firth of Forth are truly exceptional. There is a long par 4 on the back 9 that goes along the water also, which is brilliant. The rest of the course is good. The course is short, long hitters will be playing a lot of very short approaches into par 4’s, but the greens and bunker layouts mean that it is still a challenge. The clubhouse and practice facilities are good and the staff were excellent. Would definitely recommend.
No stranger
Why do golf now book strangers at same time very embarrassing if you don't want to play with them vice versa
Great day for it
Course was great fun, stunning views and great condition
Not a course for winter
Booked to play on a Friday at 12:40, it was a cracking day t-shirt on and sun in the sky. Despite calling the pro beforehand I was shocked to discover there was only 12 holes open (2 of them on winter greens). Why the “pro” didn’t say this on the phone I will never know.
Course review
One of the best views in the world. Must play if you’re in the area. John in the pro shop was very friendly and helpful. Could not say anything but good things about this course and staff!
Fantastic views seaside
Although not the best fairways and greens this late in the fall the layout was fun and the setting so beautiful just next to the ses.
Aberdour in October
Today was a joy to play on a lovely course, in excellent condition with fine weather and beautiful views over the Firth of Forth.
A variation of challenging holes and vistas made this a 'must return' course. Made all the more pleasureable by the agreeable fee on golfnow.
Hidden gem
Played aberdour on the 29/09/21. Course in excellent condition. Greens very quick and layout of course great . Not the longest course you’ll play but the first 3 holes are excellent. Highly recommend
Aberdour
Today (Wed 8th Sept) my wife and I played Aberdour Golf Course and what a joy that was. The weather was perfect, the course was in great condition with fantastic greens. The course sits along the waters edge and has many holes worthy of a mention, I’ll refrain, or this could turn in to a very long review, in a good way. All I would say is, you must play this course. In addition to the great course the Clubhouse staff and the Pro Shop staff were great, very helpful and making us feel welcome. We will go back and play the course again, many times.
Nice course
1st time played aberdour staff was very helpful and course was lovely and views as well
Great golf course
First time playing the course and was very pleased with the overall experience. The starter in the club pro shop was excellent. He met us at the 28th once we played to make sure our round went well and to make sure our experience was a good one it was an excellent touch . Only down side we couldn't get food after 5 30 but over all an excellent day
Hidden Gem
Played this course on a midweek late summer evening. It was a 7pm tee off time and the price reflected this as it only gave us 1hr 45 mins before darkness. We were perfectly ok with that.
Course is lovely, really picturesque views and some cracking wee holes. greens had been cored but still ran pretty well!
Course is quite short, with a number of par 3's and short par 4's but accuracy is needed as some holes will punish you for errant shots. 2nd and 11th hole in particular!
Managed to play 15 holes as thankfully there was no one in front of us. Well worth the money and would be more than willing to play again!
Great views about all
Great views on the course but the actual course leaves a bit to be desired.
Great value at £15 but don’t think I’ll return left feeling underwhelmed.
