Charleton Golf and Country Club
About
Charleton Golf & Country Club boasts a reputation for being one of the most attractive golf courses in Fife. It sits just minutes from St. Andrews but it offers impressive views over the Firth of Forth that make it a completely unique experience. The parkland layout starts out gently enough but really becomes challenging on the fourth hole, which is a par 5 that plays uphill. There are numerous bunkers strategically placed around the greens and the occasional water hazard comes into play, perhaps most notably on the tricky par-4 11th. The par-4 17th is the signature hole, known for its second shot that is played over a wall onto a narrow green. In addition to the course, Charleton Golf & Country Club also boasts a nine-hole pitch-and-putt course and a driving range.

Great course great value great day!
We had our 2 yearly golf day out here with a group of 13 and had a great day. Bacon rolls and coffee in the morning before heading out for our first round of golf, soup and rolls awaited us after this round before we went out for our 2nd round of the day. Then got a 2 course meal when we arrived back which was delicious. Course is in great condition for the time of year and recent rainfall. 16&17th were a little soggy underfoot but to be expected. Some great holes ranging from reachable par 4s to long testing par 5s (13th was a killer getting up that hill in the 2nd round). Hospitality was great, Andy in the bar was very efficient and helpful. All the boys had a great day and will be back in 2 years when home from Australia for the next day out.
Great hidden gem
A really pleasant experience. Very friendly staff, great course, fantastic greens and excellent value for money.
Definitely worth a visit if you're in Fife.
Hidden gem
A group of us have played this course for the past 6 years on our annual jaunt to the east neuk, it’s improved every year without fail, nice course and not overly busy , wee hidden gem . I read in other reviews that its boring and has no clubhouse? Its a fairly challenging course ( i play off 5.3) with a few easy holes , definitely not boring and the clubhouse is coming after the last one burned down . No clubhouse isnt the end of the world is it? Its been the same guy at the starters box every year and he will chat away and give you wee tips about the course, would recommend to anyone and its not hatd to get a teetime
Fife tour 23
Long and boring, charged more than quoted.
club house was a shipping container
Course should be closed
We turned up to a busy course, which is normally a good sign, however most were in the same postion, people looking for a game. After calling in the morning I was told the course was hard under foot but playable.
This was not the case only 2/3 of the front 9 greens were not sheet ice and the tee boxes were just as bad. The course should of been shut. In the summer the course is lovely and would recommend but to be charged to manage 13 holes as it was that bad is not on.
Birthday Golf Treat
Course was in very good condition when compared to others is the local area
Greens running true and good pace for the time of year
Green staff deserve some recognition as they were very attentive and were busy all the time we were there attending to the course
Roxy
Course in great condition for the time of year. All full greens and in excellent condition. Will definitely play again and would recommend to others
Excellent course
First time playing this course and won't be my last. Starter and fellow chatty and very friendly and welcoming. Greens amazing condition for the time off year
Thanks
When we arrived we spoke to local members who were all so friendly and welcoming. Although the club house gone the staff couldn’t have been more helpful and all facilities we needed were there. The course and greens were in fantastic condition and we will certainly come back. Thank you
Well worth it
Currently there is no clubhouse which we knew about prior to our arrival. Nevertheless we were warmly welcomed and immediately felt encouraged by the enthusiasm of the gentleman on duty in the makeshift clubhouse. We could still get a coffee and a sandwich either at the start or at the turn.
The front nine has some great elevation changes and some lovely views over the Forth...
The course was neat and tidy and you could see that there was some attention to detail. The greens weren't the quickest but were consistent throughout our round. (Bearing in mind the torrential rainfall five days previously)
Overall a good test of golf, some wonderful views and a testimony to the work the greens staff were obviously putting in.
We played Scotscraig GC the day before and although that place comes with a reputation, it wasn't a patch on this course.
Our round.
Charleton, for the time of year, was in great condition. Fairways and greens, great to play off. My playing partner commented on how “true” the greens were running. No clubhouse facilities due to a recent fire, but did not spoil our golf experience at all. Would definitely recommend Charleton to everyone. We will be back!
Greens/ layout
All the greens needed improvement, very much like putting on a wet carpet, very slow.
Layout of the course was very good, but signage from green to next tee needs improvement
Greens had just been scarified and were very poor for putting on. I think we should have been informed when booking or on arrival and I don’t think charging the full green fee was justified,
really enjoyable parkland course
Six of us played this course. we were able to book at short notice. Whilst the. clubhouse is no longer there having recently been burned down this did not affect our enjoyment. A lovely course well laid out.
