Charleton Golf and Country Club
About
Charleton Golf & Country Club boasts a reputation for being one of the most attractive golf courses in Fife. It sits just minutes from St. Andrews but it offers impressive views over the Firth of Forth that make it a completely unique experience. The parkland layout starts out gently enough but really becomes challenging on the fourth hole, which is a par 5 that plays uphill. There are numerous bunkers strategically placed around the greens and the occasional water hazard comes into play, perhaps most notably on the tricky par-4 11th. The par-4 17th is the signature hole, known for its second shot that is played over a wall onto a narrow green. In addition to the course, Charleton Golf & Country Club also boasts a nine-hole pitch-and-putt course and a driving range.

Quality
One of fifes hidden gems. Course as always in excellent condition, greens as true as you like no excuses! Great wee track, well worth a visit!
Fantastic value
We played this course less than a week after "the beast from the east" had passed, and it was very good, the greens in particular were very good and ran very well, overall the course has stood up well to the wintry conditions, a credit to the green staff, also £16 on teeofftimes, happy days, get up and play it, you won't be dissapointed
Cant get better winter golf
Mid feb into full greens,no tee mats no fairway mats.
Best winter golf around well worth the money.
Good winter round
Course was in good nick despite the previous week's wet weather. Greens were very good for the time of year which is a bonus at this time of year. Getting to play the ball off the turf instead of a winter mat is one of the reasons we'll keep going back to Charleton GC.
Also the fine efforts of the bar and catering staff are much appreciated pre and post round keeping us fuelled with coffee and bacon rolls.
Great course great value great day!
We had our 2 yearly golf day out here with a group of 13 and had a great day. Bacon rolls and coffee in the morning before heading out for our first round of golf, soup and rolls awaited us after this round before we went out for our 2nd round of the day. Then got a 2 course meal when we arrived back which was delicious. Course is in great condition for the time of year and recent rainfall. 16&17th were a little soggy underfoot but to be expected. Some great holes ranging from reachable par 4s to long testing par 5s (13th was a killer getting up that hill in the 2nd round). Hospitality was great, Andy in the bar was very efficient and helpful. All the boys had a great day and will be back in 2 years when home from Australia for the next day out.
Course was really good and was in excellent condition considering the time of the year and the weather we have been experiencing. Would certainly recommend it to other golfers. Thoroughly enjoyed our day.
Course is ok for the price.Have played many times but facilities poor and barman's brusque unhelpful attitude has put us off from ever playing again.
Why have I not played this course before
Do not be put off by the cost to play this course. These are the fastest greens i have played on this year even after months of rain.
The course was a bit wet in places but alot dryer than i expected.
Tough greens
Played this course twice in week, both times course was in excellent condition fairways are wide but rough punishing, greens need to be seen to be believed ( very tricky, lots of slopes and heartbreaking swings) Highlight of first outing was chip in from 70 yards at difficult 3rd hole managed 34 points on 16 handicap and was chuffed with score.
Second outing was on Friday the day after seniors open at club, course again in excellent condition but OMG the greens had been given the treatment and where fast and very difficult, was playing in a society day out and most of the conversation at the end was about puts missed and score cards ruined by the greens.
As part of society deal had bacon sandwich in morning, soup and sandwich at half time and meal at finish, good food and excellent value for money.
Kudos to the winner of the senior open apparently he managed 8 birdies, although how he managed that playing those greens I'll never understand.
Hidden gem
Cracking track,a real hidden gem. The undulations on the greens can result some very challenging pin positions.
Clubhouse could maybe do with a bit of tlc but on the other hand it's very rare that you get to warm up on a grass driving range when you are paying around £15 green fees.
Great variation and no 2 holes are the same even if they may have similar yardages on the card.
If I stayed closer I would definitely be interested in becoming a member of this course.
I would recommend this course to golfers of all levels
A Hidden Gem
A Hidden Gem amongst the links courses of Fife. Course was in excellent condition and a decent test of golf. A few mud balls after some rain although on the day it was warm and sunny so would imagine would get quite soft in places.Spectacular views on the front 9. The only Staff member we saw was really friendly. Didn't have time to use practice facilities and no pro or shop.
Will definitely return.
Saturday 29/7/17
Great value for money. Course looking great.
Club house staff a bit frosty but not going to socialise with them so didn't put us off at all.
We had fantastic day out!
Nice course
Course in lovely condition although some greens were too steep around pins and ball could run off to apron. Clubhouse has nice views but would benefit from a general upgrade. Did not eat since no catering was available at the end of our round (6pm)
Lovely track in great condition
I really like this course, fantastic condition, especially the greens. Needs a new clubhouse but as I'm not a member it's not a huge concern. Highly recommend for the money
Well worth a visit
Greens in excellent condition generally, well defined fairways and challenging rough. Good mix of holes to keep it interesting.
No complaints about the course
We were disappointed with the limited choice of food
in the clubhouse. No tuna no soup.
The important thing to us is the condition of the course
which was excellent.
Good green staff.
Mixed bag
Played before and was in better condition previously.
Fairways quite scruffy tee banks also but dissapointed in greens, very slow.
Wouldnt take much to make it much nicer and it would then be perfect.
