Alderbrook Golf Club
About
Alderbrook Golf & Yacht Club is consistently ranked as one of the top 25 courses in the Pacific Northwest. The course is known for being one of the most scenic in Washington as well as one of the most playable. Though it's member owned, it's open to the public. Throughout the course you'll enjoy incredible views of the Hood Canal and Olympic Mountains. The layout is challenging but fair, offering a test of your skills without being overly punishing. Rolling fairways are lined with mature Evergreen trees and the large, fast greens make pin placement a challenge. The front nine is fairly tight but the golf course opens up on the back nine. Alderbrook's final hole is the layout's most memorable. Scoring par on this double-dogleg par 5 is something to be very proud of.

Spring has sprung
Nice day at Alderbrook - for late March that is. I love this course when the weather is wet. We escaped any serious precipitation. Greens were a little quicker than I expected for this time of year but they hold well, are fair and run true. Sand was actually dry and loose. I really should play here more often but get distracted by all the other opportunities in the peninsula/south sound area.
"a great get away ! Top 100!
Friendly staff, Beautiful course, nice fairway's, nice green's, great shape for this time of the year! Ive already booked next saturday!
Intriguing course, challenging fairways.
Lots of challenges in terrain and approaches. Chances to use most clubs in your bag. Newly punched and sanded greens so hard to judge over-all.
Beautiful but a bit quirky.
I loved this course. The fairways and greens were immaculate. I had never experienced greens with a definite grain that effected the speed of the ball so they had an additional challenge to them, but they were true and fun. The only hole I didn't care for was the par 5 eighth, a double dog leg. There was no apparent landing area for your tee shot. Next time I'll just take a medium iron and try to keep it in play off the tee. Very good course, worth the drive.
Course is in a lovely setting but has a split personality.
The front nine is narrow, lined with trees and almost every tee shot and many second shots are blind - best to play with a local to avoid the ever present out of bound stakes! The back nine is more open and the holes lay out in front of you more clearly. Greens are fabulous. Five sets of tee blocks for every level of player is a wonderful feature on a course with as much tree trouble as this one has. Nice clubhouse. Short but usable driving range.
Fun course winding through a nice housing area. Nice views.
Alderbrook Golf Club is a nice course that winds through a pretty housing area. The bad part about that is a lot of OB, and some is pretty close to the fairway. Some interesting canyon-like holes. Lots of uneven lies--I think the ball was below my feet half of the time, even in the fairway. Greens were firm with plenty of challenging breaks. Some nice views of the Hood Canal and the Olympic Mountains.
Great greens, well maintained
Outstanding golf outing. Best greens I have been on this year.
Beautiful course but slow
The course was great but they put too many
People out at one time. No ten minute between tee
Times. We waited on every shot. Plus they allowed
Fivesomes.
Good condition
I have played this course before and it is usually in very good condition.
Well maintained and challenging greens.
Plays well for all types of players from beginners to advanced.
breathtaking views ....I had to scare a deer away so I could take my shot.
The course is gorgeous one; breathtaking views, great upkeep, random wildlife . Loved it. ..slightly addicted!!
Alderbrook is always a joy to play.
Alderbrook is a fair test of you game. Outstanding views of the Olympic Mountains. The staff are always friendly and helpful. This is a great place to play.
Slow play but otherwise enjoyable.
The greens were fast with subtle and not so subtle undulations and breaks which made it a fun challenge. Slow play - no marshaling.
Great!
We will go back again! Course in great shape. Members were friendly and pace of play relaxed.
Alderbrook is in great condition. Well maintained and very playable.
We played Alderbrook this week. It was in pristine condition. The fairways were lush and greens smooth and very playable. The layout of the course takes advantage of the beauty and topography of the area. The trees, slope, and doglegs presented plenty of challenge for a mid to low handicapper.
We stayed and had an early dinner. The food was excellent. The staff in both the Pro Shop and restaurant were friendly and efficient.
Plan to make a day of playing Alderbrook. The golf, scenery, and restaurant are worth the trip to Hood's Canal.
staff were very friendly
This course has plenty of tees to choose from. The course has lots of challenging design to it.
Great Course, prepare for #8 Hole
Great Course, Staff, and 19th Hole. Believe it or not everyone playing the course was friendly too. Very enjoyable experience. Next time we will stay at the resort and play the next day as well.
enjoyable course
A very enjoyable course. Interesting layout providing a wide range of well thought out holes. Very friendly folks playing the day I was there.
This is more of an intermediate course for seniors, that is how I would describe it.
If you hit the ball about 275 yards off the tee...Even the blue tees will be too easy. Worst part is with that distance, you won't be hitting driver except on a couple of Par 5's. (Even those are a bit funky).
* Like the views
* Disliked the hole layouts. Short, and many holes require less than a 3 iron to tee oiff.
* I Dislike any Par 5 that starts with a 6-iron, followed by another 6 iron.
* I dislike yardage measurements being a bit inaccurate.
* I dislike trick golf holes.
* I dislike 18 hole courses that are too short.
* I like the finishing hole. That may be the prettiest hole and most fun on the course.
On a scale from 1-100 in Likability to the course, I would give it a 21. Better than Walter Hall but, not better than Legion in Everett. Clearly not "The Classic" and Brookdale in Tacoma is better.
Too many great courses in the area to play this one....
Course is in ok condition. But there was no marshall to maintain pace of play, and they have no beverage cart on the course (this round was played on 6/30 - sunny and 85 on a sunday).
the course is lined with houses, the fairway is in good condition, and although the greens look to be in poor condition they roll true.
