Balbirnie Park Golf Course
About
Balbirnie Park Golf Club serves as a prime example of a traditional parkland design with a layout that follows the natural contours of the land very closely. The gently rolling landscape lends some interest to the course but the undulations are invitingly gentle rather than being overly difficult. Long hitters will really shine on the golf course since it greatly rewards straight shots with some distance. Golfers should beware though, it is a tricky layout that punishes errant shots with thick rough and densely wooded areas. Balbirnie Park Golf Club finishes with what is arguably the most challenging hole. This par 5 requires two strokes, both blind to the hole, to lay-up before a heavily protected putting surface situated in front of the clubhouse. There are bunkers to the right and a large tree to the left as well as a burn that runs along the entire front of the green.

Balbirnie Park GC
Having never played Balbirnie GC before, I am pleased to say that I thourghly enjoyed the experience. The course is in excellent condition and the greens are fabulous. I have now found a true little gem of a course and I will certainly be returning soon to repeat the experience. Big well done to the greenkeeping staff who have obviously worked tirelessly to present the course in such good condition.

Excellent layout and great greens
Course number 313 of 591 in my Scottish Kidney Golf Challenge to play every course in scotland
On Sunday I took advantage of the dry weather that was forecast and headed up to Fife to play Balbirnie.
On arrival I had a lengthy chat with Scott Gillespie the pro about my challenge and why I'm playing every course in Scotland before heading up the hill to the first tee.
Considering the rain we've had over this winter and the heavy down pour the night before the course was in brilliant condition. A mat was required from fairway and rough and all 18 greens were open and rolling true and at a good pace.
There is plenty of great golf holes on this course but my 2 favourite holes have to be:
Hole 3, 345y par 4 downhill dogleg right. The green is protected by a bunker on both sides, an elevation change and a small pond front right.
Hole 18, 503y par 5. A fantastic finishing hole and one that sticks in the memory. A great risk reward hole for the bigger hitters. The green is protected by a burn that runs across the front of the green and 2 bunkers to the right. The clubhouse sits behind the 18th green which makes for a back drop as you walk down the hill.
I thoroughly enjoyed my morning round here and if you haven't played here yet I'd recommend you get up for a game.
Pro shop was well stocked with everything you'd need and Scott was friendly and welcoming. The staff in the clubhouse were friendly and the food was good.
The journey to play them all continues
Great course, friendly staff
Played this course based on recent reviews. The course was in good condition and the greens were in excellent condition. Front 9 very hilly but ok with electric trolleys. Pace of play was good, 2 ball in front of our 2 ball and 2 ball behind. Reasonably easy to find our way around the course. Our round took us about 3 hrs 20 mins. Pro in club shop was very welcoming as was the lady serving in the clubhouse. We had sandwiches before our round and 2 meals when we finished about 5pm and both were good value. Easy to find the golf course. Would recommend *
First time....great course
Played Balbirnie for the first time in a Seniors Open this week.
Great layout; all the holes different and every one in fantastic condition. Not too long and apart from finding the first tee, the next holes were easy to find.
Staff and members were really friendly and were keen to hear what I thought.
Nice clubhouse with a great view of the 18th green.
All in all great course in lovely nick - a credit to the greens staff.
Beautiful Course
Fantastic course with the greens back to their former best. Good value. Greens were slow but true.
Excellent value for money
Nice course and challenge for mid to high handicap. Most greens were perfect apart from a few hairy patches on some but couldn't complain. Be prepared for a tough walk on the front 9
Fantasti course
Fantastic course with one of the best finishing holes.
Phenomenal course
A cracking golf course with some very memorable holes all in perfect condition. Greens were a little slow but very true. We have been coming to the St Andrews region for several years and played a number of courses and this has to be up there with the best of them. Yes it is a little undulating in places but well worth the effort!! We will be back again next year definitely.
Brilliant course and super value
We played as a two ball (13 and 28 H’cap) super easy booking and great value at £17.99 each. Friendly pro shop staff and clubhouse staff. Course was in super condition and a good challenge for us both. Will definitely be back !
My favourite parkland course.
This was my 4th time at Balbirnie, it's a must play if you're in the area.
Awesome parkland course
Balbirnie Park is a must play course, worth travelling to from anywhere in Fife. Great condition, nice wide fairways, perfect greens. You can't help but play well! Friendly Pro shop and clubhouse as well. I will definitely be returning again and again.
Excellent course and Great Value
Nice layout amongst mature trees, generous fairways and little thick rough, lovely clubhouse lounge overlooking the 18th hole
Good parkland layout
We had a good time playing Balbirnie on a lovely sunny afternoon with the course looking at its very best
Nice course
Friendly welcome. Nice course - good selection of tees you can play from.
Greens were true - but slightly slower than other courses we have played. Staff very friendly.
Good value.
Very nice course in great condition. However very very hilly and many blind tee-offs. Great value though and everyone was very friendly. Lovely bar area overlooking course for after round beverage.
Good forgiven course
Great course for your average golfer, very forgiven with the wide fairways, but equally as tricky with some great holes.
Clean ball
Never had to clean a ball so much front nine very wet and muddy fairways in poor condition back nine much better
