Falkland Golf Club
About
It's not often you play a nine hole golf course with a backdrop of an ancient royal palace. You will find it in Falkland, though, home to the Falkland Palace and its neighbor, the Falkland Golf Club.
Falkland Golf Club opened in 1975. It's a short but tough test, set in lush farmland. It features an undulating parkland layout with a myriad of challenges.
No. 1 is nicknamed "The Stream," because there's a stream a few feet in front of the tee. If you are an extremely short hitter, this is a hazard. No. 5 is the first par 3, 207 yards, nicknamed "The Barn." The length is doable, but you're often shooting into the wind, making hitting the green in one shot harder.
No. 6 is another par 3, this time 152 yards. Drive wisely, though, as the green is protected by a couple of deep and difficult bunkers. No. 9 ends with more length, this time a 329-yard par 4. That stream from No. 1 is back, except further down, causing you to think about pulling out the iron. You also have to avoid out of bounds on the left and the right.
Falkland Golf Club features men and women's locker rooms. It also has a clubhouse with its own licensed bar, which can provide catering for pre-arranged groups.

Lovely wee 9 hole.
A delightful round here. Quite a short course so felt happy going round with just my irons. Fairways are slim and require a certain amount of accuracy off the tee but the rough is not punishing. The football pitch that others have mentioned isn’t on the course, it’s down the side of a fairway. They were clearly doing some work on the greens so had placed the holes on the fairway in front of the green. Made putting almost impossible! As a beginner it was perfect for me to work on my short game. It was also pretty much deserted which I enjoyed.
Falkland Golf Club
Always a good day here. For a small club the course is in good condition. Members are always friendly and welcoming.
Whilst maybe not the course for serious golfers, it is ideal for social ones that enjoy a nice leisurely round.
Quirky 9 hole course with a football pitch in the middle of hole 2 and 11
Small and tricky 9 hole course.
Very narrow fairways.
There is a football pitch and a maintenance hut that you have to navigate for the 2nd hole par 5.
Very small quick greens which make it challenging.
Good day all round apart from that the clubhouse completely closed at 3pm so we could not enjoy a refreshment after our round of golf.
Falkland Golf Club
I booked online and received a very warm welcome upon arrival. Everyone was super friendly, and being a visitor, was made to feel at home. The course is in very good condition and is very difficult as it Has very tight fairways and small greens. The members were all present at first tee off , and gave very valuable advise on course layout and hazards. The first 9 was a learning experience, and was difficult, but I set out to have fun, and we did have a good time., it is essential you keep the ball straight , the left side is all out of bounds , so play with caution. The second 9 was easier having already sampled the dangers on the first time round, and I shot a 4 over 38. A fantastic wee course and I totally recommend a visit.
Falkland Golf Club
Course was in fairly good condition. Was strange to play the 2nd over a football pitch which was in poor condition. Overall it was clear that they are doing their best with the very limited resources they have.
Small 9 course set in rural Fife
Very basic course, no practice nets, putting green or range.
Small clubhouse with the main facilities you need, although looking a bit tired.
Staff very friendly and welcoming
Layout of course is very tight, one shared fairway, between 2 holes.
My impression was they did well to squeeze in 9 holes.
On one hole , you play over the football pitch, so I don't know what happens when the football is on!
I may go back as it is very good value
Nice golf course in plesent location with nice views. Great wee course if you are wanting to improve your game.
We were pleased to add Falkland G C to our list of 9 Hole courses. The layout is compact and completed round in just over an hour. The course being in the shadow of Falkland Hill and with views of the Palace added to the experience.
Good value golf
Very friendly staff & not too busy on the day we played. Quite a basic short course but plenty to make you think.
Falkland golf club
Nice little course, very friendly senior captain Ian who explained the layout.
Green staff very good, given the weather for the last few weeks.
Wish them the best of luck for the future.
This a nice course
Greatlittle golf course liked it very much would book again for this course apart from having to hit ur drive straight it was challenging and good just a question about number of buggies avaailable
Not the best in the area
Played this for the first time but won't be in a hurry to return. The course is fairly tight and a little uninteresting. The biggest surprise was the quality of the fairways and greens which were not in very good condition to say it was the peak of the summer. People were very friendly and welcoming.
Lovely course
Lovely 9 hole course which you play twice and staff very friendly and welcoming
A great alternative to playing the overpriced [and over rated] home of golf.
3rd time I've visited, course in excellent condition, greens were especially good on day of visit drying out very fast, but straight and true. Green staff were very courteous and helpful, can't comment on clubhouse facilities as we were pushed for time, but all in all a very pleasant visit and can thoroughly recommend as an alternative to the madness 'up the road' known as 'The Home Of Golf!'
