Drumoig Golf Hotel sprawls across 250 acres of rolling countryside inhabited by a variety of different birds and wildlife. The dramatic landscape provides the course with plenty of loch-side fairways and quarry greens. The lochs come into play on three holes, most notably on the challenging par-3 ninth. The difficult tee shot is followed by a tricky shot over the loch in order to reach the green. More advanced golfers will find the back tees provide a good challenge while the front tees are better for beginners. Golfers will also enjoy the views that stretch past St. Andrews Bay and the River Tay to Dundee and Carnoustie. The par-5 fifth is the signature hole of the golf course. The hole, which often plays into prevailing wind, requires a strong drive and a long iron to reach the narrow opening to the green.

Great Parkland Course

I played Drumoig midweek and really enjoyed my round. The course was well presented and the fairways and greens were in great condition. The water holes around holes 9,10,11 and 18 were a great feature and really made you think about your shot. I will definitely play Drumoig again.

Great course, shame about the members

Course was in magnificent condition. Coming from “down South” it was a delight to play on genuinely green grass rather than desert like conditions after our fierce Sumer sun. Greens were slick and fast, but true and a real challenge. Rest of the course was relatively easy with big, wide fairways that were hard to miss. Lots of variety on the holes which made the course entertaining and interesting. Starter was friendly and helpful, but a three ball group I caught up with on the 3rd green resolutely refused to let me - a singleton - through.. At the end of the round the Starter confirmed they were members. Clearly etiquette does not feature highly at Drumoig!

Very slow play. Staff and course were lovely

We didn’t get to do the whole 18 holes which is a shame as the pace of play was too slow. We came off at the 9th. We called the starter and agreed to play the front 9 again! Which we thoroughly enjoyed. It’s a real shame that courses in this area are too tightly packed. Facilities and the staff are wonderful

Incredibly slow play on a reasonable course

We played as a 3 ball on a Saturday afternoon. Busy time but we found the course to be completely choked - at one stage 5 groups backed up over a hole and a half. Surely overbooked but perhaps there was slow play ahead of us. The wait at each tee didn't help our game. Course is good - quite long but with very open fairways. Disappointing that the 7th is playing a temporary green (due to new green under construction) but otherwise in good condition. Amenities are a bit strung out but not sure much can be done given the road between 1st tee and 18th green. Toilets and practice nets would be a good addition to the starter area. Overall close to being very good but right now seems to me to be let down by a few fixable problems - slow play being the biggest and most easily fixed of them.

Enjoyable Course

We had a warm welcome from Willie the starter. He was very helpful ref hints and tips about the course. Having come from the parched South we enjoyed playing on grass !!

Stunning course

Drumoig is a real gem of a golf course and just 20 mins from St Andrews where the charges are way more expensive. The views and vistas are superb. The Quarry holes are a standout. The small lochs are challenge but help to make the course really special. The lounge in the hotel is excellent with stunning views over the 18th green and to the hills beyond. The food is very good as is the service. The starter is very pleasant, welcoming and helpful. Finally, the price of a round and a buggy mages this great course a real bargain.

Drumoig Golf course

Absolutely awesome course. Greens were fantastic and true.
One of the best courses I have played at and am returning tomorrow. Recommend it to anyone wanting a challenging round of golf in fantastic scenery. Last hole is a real test of nerves.

Course is challenging

Course needs to add some portable washrooms, around the course, halfway house closed and washrooms locked.
