St. Michaels Golf Club
About
St. Michael's Golf Club sits atop Gallow Hill, providing spectacular views past the River Eden to the historic buildings of St. Andrews. The course sprawls across a prehistoric settlement that is protected by Historic Scotland. The terrain is an interesting mix of wooded parkland and undulating heathland with a well-draining sandy base. The golf course features small greens and narrow fairways that place a premium on accuracy. While it may not have the prestige or the classic links layout of St. Andrews, St. Michael's Golf Club offers just as formidable a test. The challenges begin immediately on the first hole, an uphill par 4 with a fairway that slopes right to left. St. Michael's signature hole is the par-3 15th, which many consider to be the most demanding short hole in Fife. There is a large dip to the left and rear of the green, a bunker to the front right, and out-of-bounds to the left and on the railway line behind.

The 15th Par 3 Photo submitted by BJK77 on 10/14/2020
St Michael’s Golf Course
St Michael’s is a great course that offers a balance of some tricky Pin positions with a course set up so you can score well, as long as you hit the fairways , drive straight and perform well with the short game. The course is on winter yardages, which gives the golfer that favours the de chambeau style, the chance to drive many of the greens! The par 3 15th is a site to behold and is still one of my favourite Par 3’s I have played. The value for money is excellent and you are always welcomed by the friendly staff in the club house.
When we played the back nine greens (some) were frozen making them virtually unplayable. Totally understandable given the time of year and hard frost the night before. Unfortunate for us but I would still return later in the year.
Fantastic back 9
Really enjoyed the course today. Front 9 is good but the back 9 is incredible. So many different challenges to deal with for all levels of golfer. Will definitely be back.
Great course
Great course in good condition for the time of year. Only bad point would be the majority of pin positions on the front 9 were poor. On on close to slope but other than that it was a fantastic day
Hidden gem
Really good course, great variety of holes with greens in near perfect condition.
Excellent staff
As usual excellent service and course in excellent condition the best we've seen it in years lookin forward to the next time especially the breakfast
Course is well maintained
Good parking facilities, staff were friendly and course was in excellent condition.
The front 9 was good and the back 9 was fine up until 15 when it felt the course was crammed together due to lack of space. Some challenging holes .
Great staff
Great little course, very small greens with run off all round most greens not the longest but need to hold greens to score, great people so friendly . My go to wee day out when in the area and it's cheap for what you get
4star
Need to sort out the food,!
Great Course
First time playing St. Michael’s golf course and thoroughly enjoyed it. Lovely course and would recommend playing it. Would happily return to play again.
Value
Course was in great condition and fantastic price. Love the outside space they have created at clubhouse
Excellent back 9
Small provincial club with character. Lots of room but punishes the bad slice or hook. Fairways are a bit parched and dry due to a few years of dry summers and absence of fairway sprinklers but greens were good, if just a bit slow in comparison to other courses round St Andrews. Some quirky holes, but excellent par threes and a challenging and very interesting back 9. Some hills and valleys to negotiate on the back 9, noticed some elderly lady members playing behind sensibly opted for 9 holes.
St Michaels
1st time playing at St michael really good course it has everything long holes short holes they are all a different challenge aswell.the views are stunning.staff are really friendly. Definitely worth the money.
Very Enjoyable
Greens were in excellent condition, nice mix of woodland style with a little links thrown in. Fairways were parched (sign of a good summer). Nice wide fairways and rough forgiving on most holes. Some interesting holes carved out of quarry on back none. Could benefit from more yardage markers to help the visitor as there is a few blind shots to greens.
