Bathgate Golf Club
About
Bathgate Castle sat on what's now the 10th hole of the Bathgate Golf Club's course. It was part of the dowry given to Walter Stewart when he married King Robert the Bruce's daughter Marjory in 1328. Because of this, the club, which opened in 1907, is required to seek permission before engaging in any excavating, though "Divots are allowed!", as the club proclaims on its Web site, as were the touch-ups proposed by James Braid in 1935.
A round at the Bathgate Golf Club, where the scorecard admonishes golfers to "PLEASE AVOID SLOW PLAY AT ALL TIMES," kicks off big on Lang Whang, a 476-yarder that is one of four par-5 holes. The longest is Auld Reekie, the 12th hole, at 505 yards. The round closes at Hame, a par-4 that measures 405 yards.
Catch up on games back home or games back at Hame in the Bathgate Golf Club's lounge, which offers satellite television, a view of the 18th, and billiards and dancing for those in the mood to do more than watch.

Windy but fun!
Really good layout and use of the space. Tricky greens and held up well from a heavy downpour. Wind had massive impact on ball but all part of the challenge. Very friendly pro shop staff. Highly recommend
First class course
Excellent layout, fast pace (not much looking for balls, all tees by greens, tree-lined and fair. Throughly enjoyed playing here and hadn’t expected the greens to be in such great condition and fast.
Highly recommend. Next time here I will visit the 19th as well, the clubhouse looked very smart and welcoming.
Excellent Layout
Enjoyed previous visit that booked again.
Course is well laid out with some picturesque holes and in good condition.
Greens were slick.
Lovely cour
Course in great condition and a nice welcome as well.
My only slight gripe is the greens. To me they appeared to be a bit sparse in places and not as lush as I expected.
Please note, however, that the greens weren't bad just not up to my expectations.
Overall, I thoroughly enmy day and would certainly visit again.
Decent enough
Overall found the course and conditions to be decent. Just can't get over excited on any aspect but nothing negative either - oh other than the pace of play. No fault of the course but it's so annoying when you see a four ball just sauntering along the fairways having a chat knowing there's groups behind waiting on every shot. In terms of what I paid it was really good value but wouldn't like to be paying more than around £25.
Good value overall
Found it to be a decent course in decent condition. Can't say it's outstanding at all though that shouldn't be taken as a criticism. I've seen a good bit worse at higher prices than I paid here. Stuck behind two 4 ball games, the first of which decided to walk at an absolute snails pace. Booked as a single player but was joined with two excellent gentlemen, Stuart and Davie, without whom it may have felt like a long slog behind the snails.
Good value, decent course but not spectacular. Simples.
Very enjoyable
Very enjoyable course to play, a good mix of holes using the natural contours of the land. Very friendly welcome and a lovely clubhouse.
Excellent value for money
What a great find
Played Bathgate golf course for the first time. Course was in good condition with some tricky holes that make you think. Staff and members were really friendly and the menu is reasonably priced. OverLl a pleasant experience. I would highly recommend Mathis golf club.
Excellent
Course wet due to heavy rain prior to play but having played in the summer this course is excellent.
Big history producing 2 ryder cup captains and 3 ryder cup players. Good challenge
Outstanding played a couple of times through golf now, hopefully become a member one day,
Very good
Course in good condition.greens true and fast.
Lots different holes and few nice par 3s
Excellent
Played the course with 2 friends and being enclosed in town was not expecting such a well laid out picturesque course.
Has undulating fairways some blindish holes but each hole offers something different in places.
Course was soft in places due to recent rain but did not affect the overall enjoyment.
You play courses and think that was good we all agreed that we thoroughly enjoyed it to the extent that we will certainly return.
Had breakfast roll and coffee before going out but did not have time for food afterwards but catering at club has excellent reputation.
