Pumpherston Golf Club
About
Pumpherston Golf Club, designed by Graeme Webster, offers a superior golfing challenge, including water features over the length of the 6,000-yard, par-70 golf course and R&A-standard greens.
A round at Pumpherston Golf Club begins on Paraffin Young, a 398-yard par 4 that requires a straight drive and attention on hazards surrounding the green: bunkers right, deep rough behind. Hitters unpack long games on Pentlands, the 516-yard par-5 10th, which features a narrow fairway, requiring a straight tee shot; 150 yards from the green, the fairway drops, making a tricky approach. Close the round on Iranapol, another long hole, at 505 yards and par 5, and where water guards the green, meaning that length alone won't help you.
Book a seat in the Pumpherston Golf Club's clubhouse early - and let the clubhouse caterer know about any dietary restrictions, which the staff can work with - and head up for lunch and a drink with views of the golf course.

Nice course
Course was in reasonable condition considering the rain fall lately. All the greens on in March. Overall a good out
Nice course
In good condition considering the weather we have had
Fantastic layout and value for money
Played in February, so like everywhere else in the area the rough and fairways were pretty wet underfoot however the greens were in very good condition for this time of year. They rolled well and true.
The highlight of this course for me is the layout, there are some absolutely fantastic golf holes and lovely views. Clubhouse is nice with a friendly pro shop and a restaurant/bar looking over the course. Very good practise facilities too, large putting green, chipping area, range.
I would be very interested to play Pumpherston again in the summer months to see how it compares.
Winter Golf (November) Wet ground
I was working up in Scotland, whilst up there I decided to get a round in at the nearest course, which so happened to be Pumpherston. Words don't do the course justice, this place is beautiful! There are some challenging holes, some easier holes and some holes that are outright fun to play and beautiful to look at. The bloke running the pro shop was friendly and provided good advice for some of the holes (didn't catch his name).
The practice areas were adequate for what was needed, there was a singular hitting net, a large putting green and a chipping area. The pro shop was only just opening so didn't get a chance to view the amenities inside, however, there was a coffee machine just outside of the pro shop.
The course was wet underfoot, but the weather was dry and sunny. There was hardly any roll out on drives/shots, however, the greens ran true and fair. A very good course all around, there was no need for hitting mats and there were no temporary greens. There were a couple of temporary tee boxes, but these were on par 3s, so didn't make too much of a difference to how the course played.
Surprise at Pumpherston
I was a member when the course was only 9 holes 1970,s
What a transformation really enjoyed it got lost a couple of times greenstaff really friendly and helpful also starter will be back
excellent value for money
brillant course , played early morn so lot of dew still about but £16 a round was well worth the money
Fantastic course and very worth the money!
Myself and two friends played at Pumpherston and loved it. Unfortunately it was a very rainy day so maybe not as good as it could have been, but we will definitely be revisiting on a dry day as it would be a great course to play.
An excellent course
Prior to arriving - my expectations were not high. However I was bowled over by the high quality of the course. My playing partner told me it was a Graeme Webster design and having recently played Meldrum House I could see the similarities. There were some short par 4s and long par 3s together with 2 or 3 long par 5s and a mixture of water hazards to increase the challenge. The greens were in excellent condition and the course was enhanced by a large number of mature trees.
First Time Playing Pumpherston
First time playing this course.
Really enjoyed it. Fairways and green were in good condition 👍 Afew tricky holes and afew easy holes that I made hard work of. Would definitely recommend it if you are through this neck of the woods.
Pumpherston golf course
A great day out absolutely loved the course will definitely go back again was well worth the money from the layout and greens was a good days golfing for me and my friend we both thoroughly enjoyed the day.
Gem of a course
1st time playing here and lives up to all the top reviews. Greens and fairways fab condition. Front 9 not as challenging as back 9 and 2 brilliant par 3s coming back. Will defo return. Great price on the hot deal too.
Thoroughly Enjoyable
A very welcoming club, from the professional shop to the bar and catering staff. The course is a varied selection of holes including the fiendish second, the testing twelfth, the "Sawgrass17th"- like 16th, to the very scorable 5th, with a very good selection of par 3s.
A most enjoyable course.
Great Condition
Pumpherston is a very playable course, relatively flat, and with a nice variety of holes from the fiendish 2nd, the challenging 12th, to the very scorable 5th, and has several well-designed par 3s.
The pro and assistant are very welcoming and the lounge and catering staff and facilities are very good.
Recommended!
Nice layout!
Lovely course with a challenge on every hole. Greens in good condition. Nice fairways!
Great Find
Really enjoyed this course. Friendly pro who gave good advice. Some quirky holes. Enjoyed the back 9 as a bit more parkland. Would definitely play again
