About

Holes 18
Type
Style Parkland
Par 70
Length 5914 yards
Slope 126
Rating 69.4

Niddry Castle Golf Club offers 18 holes of par-70 golf over 5,914 yards, providing a good course for all levels and ability of player. Magnificent vistas provide a glimpse of the Pentland Hills, and the holes all offer their own unique tests and hazards - plus there's a castle smack-dab in the middle. If you can control your shots and manage a solid golf course, then this patch of parkland ought to be on your itinerary for any golf trip to Scotland.

Fire away at Cannons Drive, the Niddry Castle Golf Club's 198-yard par-3 first hole, featuring a green that slopes away. The long hole is the sixth, Castle View, a par-5 524-yarder - pick right or left of the fairway at the tee to avoid sticking yourself behind a large tree for the second shot. Gan Hame, the 18th hole, a par 4 that measures 404 yards, provides a superb finishing hole, with an elevated tee shot to a fairway that features trees on both sides.

If you're going in winter, when the club sees fewer players, Niddry Castle Golf Club offers golf-and-coffee specials.

Pleasantly surprised

Recently moved out here and been trying a few course but just got round to Niddry castle this week. Absolutely brilliant course, wee hidden gem with some stunning views. Lovely course to play thoroughly enjoyed it. Will be back very soon, may even consider a membership next season.

Great greens - dubious layout

A really enjoyable course for how bad the weather was the greens were rolling brilliantly. My only issue is there is a few blind holes where you can potentially hit other golfers. The 2nd hole is a dangerous hole where you can’t see the green and to walk to 3rd you have to walk back across the 2nd fairway without people seeing you. The 5th and 6th hole you are literally hitting across each other. Apart from that I really enjoyed the course it was definitely a different layout to other courses I have been use to and again can’t fault the greens.

Absolutely worth the green fees!!

Well worth the trip! Almost November and the greens were magnificent! Shortish but still a quality challenge. I don't generally do reviews but I had to with this. Quality course and highly recommended! I will be back

Worst course I have ever played

Terrible course layout was ducking golf balls right, left & centre as holes overlap each other so people from other tees drive over you when on green. greens where really poor condition & slow. Didn’t enjoy it at all

Average

Due to the current climate I can comment on the facilities in side.

The course was ok but we had two guys who were in front of us who were holding everything up they were actually two places in front of us but let the guys in front of us play through but never let us through. Sometimes we were waiting 5 to 10 minutes on the tee

Interesting golf course

A very nice golf course with some very interesting holes. A couple of blind tee shots and some blind second or third shots which if you havn't played the course ( like me) gets you scratching your head wondering what too hit. I really enjoyed the course. Some good views, well maintained and nice greens. I will definitely play this course again and hopefully with knowing the layout, next time i will shot a bit lower.

Niddry castle golf club

Course layout is questionable, too many cross over holes and blind holes. The 5th and 6th share a fairway with a tee at either side, so basically hitting a tee shot to oncoming players which is ridiculous. The 2nd hole is blind over a hill and you would have no chance of knowing where the green is or who is on the other side.

There are 2 holes where you are required to walk back down the fairway you have just played, to get to the next tee. Causes hold up on players behind you and is also dangerous if the players do hit there shots, which was the case today.

Very dangerous course to play on especially when busy, wouldn’t recommend playing it again.

Positive note was the greens were in a good condition.

Ideal for a good day out

Challenging course with varied holes, quick a few blind tee-offs but some wide and open holes as well, good variety.
Would definitely play again.

Calm despite the storm

After a horrendous storm the night before we were looking for a course that was open. These guys were open and the course had held up brilliantly in 90% of the play.

Lots of different and varied holes - many different challenges and enjoyable. The pace was superb, but we did play mid week. Not sure I’d like the course so much if it was busier, as lots of tight fairways.

Value for money was very good and I’ll definitely be back to play again.

Has it all

This course offers you everything you want in a game of golf.
The views are absolutely stunning, the course lay out may not suit most but I have no problem with the odd cross fairway.
Some gorgeous tee boxes and as for the greens they are fantastic, the staff have done an outstanding job, definitely worth checking it out.
Played first time last year and I have since become a member.
