Gullane - No.2 Course

About

Holes 18
Type Private
Style Links
Par 71
Length 6385 yards
Slope N/A
Rating N/A

The No. 2 course at Gullane Golf Club was constructed in 1898. Now, the first and 18th holes sit east of A198. The first seven holes parallel Gullane No. 1, and then the action shoots toward the natural reserve adjacent to the Aberlady Bay, then turns back toward the Visitors' Clubhouse.

Gullane No. 2 offers great short holes, especially the 11th, with its fantastic view and strategic club selection. Make no mistake, though: the long holes are long. The sixth hole is a 498-yard par-5, and the 16th is a 527-yard par-5.

The golf course hosted the 1980 final qualifying for the Open Championship and the 2000 Seniors Open Amateur Championship.

Try It You'll Like It

If you can't get on to Gullane #1 then #2 is just a fun. Some might say more... It's a junior version, same feel, same look, same everything except it's No.2 not No.1 so some people turn away. I like it because I always score well there, so maybe it's a bit easier than #1. Lots of elevation change, generous fairways, doglegs both ways, uphill shots, downhill shots, lots of greenside bunkers. What's not to like!

Greens immaculate

Course was in great condition for the time of year. Some temporary tee mats on but to be expected at this time of year. The greens were brilliant and very fast. I was a one ball with 2 4 balls out in front and still made it round in just over 3 hours with minimal waiting about. Will be back to play No.1 next time

Great day

Course was very good. Greens were in great condition as was the rest of the course. Rough was light in most places and most holes allowed you to be a little wayward. Excellent view over the Firth of Forth for 13 of the holes.
Clubhouse was first class. Recently renovated it had a lovely ambience. Staff were all friendly and helpful.
Great touch is 30 free balls to warm up right beside the first tee. We invited to play through a four ball of members.
Definitely be back.

Friendly, welcoming, top notch practise area - great course!

Couldn’t have enjoyed playing no. 2 any more. Course was in great condition, super challenging and technical in parts and was a great place to spend an afternoon with my Dog. As you climb up to the top of the 3rd hole, the view is spectacular - and you keep this for the whole round.

Well worth a round! Don’t miss out

Brilliant from start to finish.

Couldn’t have asked for a better first round at Gullane 2. The weather was gorgeous and the reception my friend and I received was equally good. The practice facilities are brilliant. The starter was really friendly and kind. The course was in impeccable condition and the clubhouse was a delight too. Can’t wait to return!

gullane 2

a good course with wide fairways, tees and greens were excellent for october.
staff were helpful and friendly and facilities were excellent.
i played off yellow tees and found it a bit short and a lot of fairway bunkers wasn’t in play off the tee..
i well worth playing for the views off gullane hill over the firth of forth and the lammermuir hills.

Great course

Loved playing here, pity about inconsiderate golfers ahead of us. Didn't ring bell on only blind tee shot waited 5-10 mins to find out they had cleared the hole and were halfway down the next. Made us and groups behind slower for the round.

Tougher to play than No1 course but not as picturesque so bear this in mind when booking your round.

Practice area very good and all included in the price including balls for range area.

A must play

Gullane 2. Conditions were windy but for October beautiful abd sunny. Course in anazing condition, great layout of holes, testing but some easier. Still none were 'easy'. Loved the course and views around the coast - spectacular.

Rated 2 for facilities as clubhouses were closed.

Great course conditions for time of year

The course was immaculate with perfect greens which is rare for October in Scotland. The facilties are first class with a large practice area to warm up and free range balls. Only slight negative was the rather slow play, as many were taken advantage of the fine weather, and I thought that the members' foursome playing behind were slightly rude, marching on to the tee on a couple of occasions to look at the players ahead of us, while we were waiting to tee off and early in the round suggesting we should join up with the pair to make a foursome.

Afternoon start - played in 4 hrs 6 mins with very little wait at tees. Course was well maintained with quick and consistent greens. Pull trolleys used were in excellent condition. Warm-up area (range, putting green, bunkers and chipping green) were also very well maintained. Another great visit!
