Longniddry Golf Club
About
Longniddry Golf Club is situated along the southern shore of the Firth of Forth, just a few miles east of Edinburgh. The course has a unique design that combines woodlands and links. Based on the scorecard alone, the golf course does not seem particularly long, especially not by today's standards, but don't let that fool you. Although there are no par 5s to be found on the course, golfers will come across eight par 4s that measure over 400 yards. Many of Longniddry Golf Club's holes play much longer than the indicated yardage thanks to the hilly terrain, numerous strategically placed bunkers, and mature pines. The fairways are quite generous and the greens are large, but golfers will be faced with punishing gorse and rough if their shot is even slightly wayward. The prevailing winds add another difficult element to the course.

Casual water / course flooding Photo submitted by u467099141 on 10/13/2019
Was disappointed by condition of this place. Tees and greens were not great . Felt more parkland than links until last 4 holes. Could be a great course but needs lot of work. Not wort £50-£75
Great layout
Lovely course layout. Greens have just been cored a couple weeks ago so there still a few weeks away. Next year it should be a much better course as there is a lot of work being done. So would like to play in summer.
Tremendous test of golf
Lovely setting, great layout and a friendly welcome, what more could you want? Needless to say the wind is a massive factor, making modest length holes into real brutes. Overall, highly recommended and a pleasure to play.
The courses is fabulous, great links course.
Course in the best condition I have seen it, must be down to the new green staff.
Made to feel welcome by the Pro. As first timers to the course he informed us of the practice area and a little about the course. Course was busy for a Tuesday morning in winter, some would complain about it but a sign of a good course surely! 4 ball in front of our 2 ball but not held up to bad. Winter tees in operation but all greens were in play. Sun was out to start and that always helps with the enjoyment of a course. Fairways and especially greens were in excellent condition for time of year and in spite of recent rainy weather. Not a difficult course, we had no wind and there's no par 5's just a nice pleasant course with the odd tricky hole. Can imagine a low handicapper scoring very low in the right conditions and mid/ high handicaps will enjoy it. Its fairly flat, straight course with the odd dogleg or undulating fairway. Enjoyable course that I'd play again.
Course in poor condition
Friendly welcome in the Pro shop, and in the clubhouse, bacon rolls were excellent. Course layout is appealing to the eye, but £48 to play the course in its current condition was nothing short of daylight robbery, the recently sanded greens were very bumpy and looked as if they were recovering from some sort of disease, bunkers were most un-raked, and some areas of the course had significant amounts of casual water.
Definitely worth a visit
Lovely course in very good condition. Very friendly atmosphere in club house and excellent food.
For March it was excellent
I know Longniddry well and it was nice to see it in such good nick early in the year. Greens were good though the pins were in awkward , tucked away spots on many holes which tested two veterans. The day was flat calm and we wandered round at our own pace.
The staff in the pro shop could not have been friendlier or more accommodating. All in all a wonderful day and I can recommend the course to anybody.
Great course
Great course condition excellent no negatives about this it’s a must play hope to be back. Regards Allan murray
Course in good condition for time of year
Frendly staff excellent price from TeeOffTimes good condition for time of year
Wintry Longniddry
To put in context, this was a round when my home course was closed due to snow and it had been -4'C overnight. This meant that the golf was a bit crazy and unpredictable i.e +300yds drives, balls bouncing at crazy angles, etc. Taking this into account we enjoyed our round which in the summer must be a challenging course with lots of long par 4s. By the time we got to the 11th we were on the summer greens and this made a big difference. The only negative I would say is that I always like a browse in a well stocked Pro Shop but in this case there was virtually no stock.
A Great Winter's Game of Golf
Always a joy to play here - no par 5s but several challenging par 4s. The course is a nice blend of tree-lined parkland holes and others with a links feel. Friendly staff and members.
excellent
Very good course played in perfect conditions for time of year. Friendly people great bacon roll pace of play decent just a great day out.
Slow to start but very good thereafter
It was a chilly, bright, windy day and there were lots of two' s out following some fours and I think the bright sunshine was too much for people looking into it on the first few holes; it was, indeed, very slow. But, for whatever reason, play speeded up and we were round in not much over three and a half hours.
The course was very good for November with good putting surfaces and maintained to a decent length for play..
Our bacon and egg rolls and coffee before play were good, service friendly and quick and the lad in the pro's shop could not have been more pleasant.
All in all a very good day though, strangely for Scotland, spoiled by the low sun in our eyes . We did not see where our balls were going, too often.
Longniddry goes with a high recommendation from this experienced golfer
