Broomieknowe Golf Club
About
Broomieknowe Golf Club, six miles outside Edinburgh, features a well-aged parkland course in top shape. It's an easily walked golf course, the product of legendary course designers Ben Sayers and James Braid, with the first creating the layout and the second extending it.
Broomieknowe Golf Club's course - 6,172 yards, with a standard-scratch score and par of 70 each - offers a great golfing challenge. A round of golf kicks off on Fairway, as the first hole is called, a gentle 316-yard par 4 that requires a straight shot clear of the trees on both sides and then a short iron to hit the green. Battle your way through Mary's Dyke, the Cockpen, Robin's Nest and 13 other holes. You'll reach Knowesend, a 318-yard par 4, where you'll need to tee-off nicely to clear the gap in the trees (they grow, so visit when they're short or wait until they become even more of a challenge). From there, hit a short iron to a green bunkered on the left and right.
After your round at the Broomieknowe Golf Club, hit up the lounge for an informal atmosphere, quality food and its variety of beers.

Some fairways are fairly close together
There are a lot of trees on the course and some fairways fairly narrow
Distance markers would be helpful
Bad start
Coarse was great but didn’t like the fact golf now put us on a tee off time with complete strangers put all four of us off our game to start with would have been good to know this was going to happen
A very nice well presented course with more than its share of dog legs.
Play on the day was very slow but the course was very enjoyable and well worth the money
A wonderful golf experience
Broomieknowe Golf Club was a great golf experience...and a great value. It is about a 40 minute drive from where we stayed in downtown Edinburgh. This was the first course we played in Scotland and my wife and I really enjoyed it. This 112 year old course is in excellent condition, the Greens are fast, with subtle breaks. At first glance, we thought it would be an easy round as the course looks very flat with tree lined fairways. As a 66 year old, I don't hit long, but generally straight. I played from the tips. As one plays through the course, the golfer discovers terrain variations and long par 4s which made bogey look good.
This course is not a championship course, but that is not what we were looking for. We found a wonderful walkable course, with trolley, that was extremely enjoyable. The staff and members were great. The clubhouse is pretty basic, but the bar and restaurant are warm and cozy, full of old trophies and other memorabilia. The kitchen opened up a bit early for us and provided a great little breakfast. Members were curious about us and we had great conversations. The only down side was there were few amenities on the course. No water, few ball washers and no bathrooms that we could see - my wife had to find the bushes off the ninth fairway. Still, this was a great first time golf experience in Scot
Lovely setting ...
Played this for the first time and met some old friends who are members there !
Have been invited back tomorrow and will remember how fast the greens were and will learn from that ........hopefully
A lovely course in a great setting

Extremely friendly members and staff. We were welcomed to the club by the Captain. The course was in good condition.
We finished our round at about 2.40pm hoping for lunch, but the kitchen closed at 2.30pm. This was our only disappointment. Otherwise a fine club.
Lovely course
Another enjoyable round on a course with an excellent mix of holes.
Course was busy but still got round in 3hrs 15mins.
Clubhouse facilities are excellent and staff friendly.
Challenging course.
Great challenging course. Plenty of trees to think about. Really friendly club from the pro to members. Will definitely be back.
This course is one I would play again and again
I really like Broomieknowe - course in good condition - greens fairly slow - scored well.
Staff in clubhouse friendly - will definitely come back again .
Great course
Played this course twice now and both times have no complaints. Would happily play here every week!
Broomieknowe Golf Course
Played it this week, and found it very enjoyable.
Staff and members friendly, course we'll kept and laid out well. Markers laid out clearly to point out right direction.
Fantastic day once again
I really cannot recommend this little parkland course enough the course has always been in fantastic shape every time I've played there the bunkers are excellent the greens are smooth and the staff are fantastic
Broomieknowe
Great course with a very helpful professional. I've played here before and as usual the course was in great condition.
Underrated parkland treat
This is one of the nicer parkland courses around—very comparable to the two better known Musselburgh courses, for example. The first three and last three holes are nothing much but otherwise there are some great holes to go with the pleasant surroundings.
Broomieknowe Wednesday morning
Played brommieknowe for the first time in about 15 years , the course was in super condition for the time of the year . The greens had been holocored but were still putting quite well . Overall we enjoyed our round and would recommend it.
