A parkland course
Found this course quite challenging............greens in excellent condition but hazards around fairways quite difficult if you don't know the layout
Good course
Good course ..good mixture of holes...course was in good condition..however greens getting holotinned/top dressed for winter....therefore putting wasnt best..lol...
Still good to play shots to green etc...
Pure Greens
Course was in great condition and greens were fantastic
Outstanding
I have played here many times over the years, and I played last week in an open competition, and the course was in the best condition I have ever seen it. The fairways are tight with lots of growth and the greens are just superb, and the tees and bunkers are well maintained. Simply put, the course was in perfect condition, and if you can, it is a must play, you will not be disappointed. Congrats to the greenkeeping staff.
Good well-established course and enjoyable to play
Newbattle golf course uses its contours well to create an interesting layout with challenge. It was in good condition and the greens were fairly consistent.
Some very interesting holes make it memorable.
Pleasantly surprised
I went with somewhat minimal expectations but I must say I was blown away by this course. I've played a lot of the top courses and can say that the greens where probably the best I have ever played. Blemish free and true. It was Championship week so I may have been lucky. The course is a really good layout with a good mix of challenging and shorter holes to test all levels in stunning surroundings. The 17th tee shot is an absolute beauty was was the 2nd tee. I will definately be back.
First visit to Newbattle
Never played the course so keen to try.
Professional very helpful and enjoyed the round overall.
Course good rather than outstanding but well worth a game and would be happy to return later in the year when things will look different.
Newbattle g c
Good course friendly pro shop staff please give visitors the door code for toilet and a hot drink at the end of the round.
Don't do it
Played on 13/10. When we arrived we were told most greens are temporary because of ongoing work. As expected every hole is 30yd shorter which is a joke. The greens that were not temporary were punched and full of sand which made putting impossible. Ball was jumping off the putter like I was hitting 60 wedge. We should get that round for free in these conditions. Also, £900 for a membership there is a laugh. It's like council course. Flat, boring, holes back and forward (I would compare it to carrick knowe)
Lovely day at Newbattle
Course had pleasant wide fairways which were a bit burnt due to the prolonged period of sunny weather and little rain. The greens were in average condition, a bit slow but green and with growth (I am certain the greenkeeper was purposely keeping the grass a little long in view of the dry conditions). The members were very courteous and we played through two 4-balls very quickly and easily got round in under 3 hours. The catering staff, the food and selection of drinks were all excellent. Overall a very enjoyable round.
Very pleasant round of golf on an enjoyable layout. Course conditions were very good, greens were running extremely well and fairways were also very tidy. Nice touch for the Pro to adjust our time too as we were running late
