Kings Acre Golf Course and Academy, located in the Midlothian countryside just six miles from Edinburgh, is a unique 18-hole golf course and academy. The golf course, which opened in 1997, was the vision of Scottish Golf Course Designer Graeme Webster.

The parkland golf course made clever use of the land's natural contours. Strategically placed water hazards and more than 50 bunkers lead the way to championship quality greens. Kings Acre Golf Course and Academy's natural sandy-based soil guarantees excellent playability all year round.

Waterlogged

Course would be excellent during a dry period but it was so so waterlogged. Drainage seems to be nonexistent.. I understand that this is Scotland and my course gets waterlogged at parts but not most of tee’s and fairways. Tee’s were covered in water and actually had to find a dry spot off the tee’s, Fairways were not much better. Positive is the greens were exceptional! If I was a member of this course I wouldn’t be happy that it was getting torn up so much. Was expensive for a very wet day even though it didn’t rain during the day.

Jewel In The Crown

Everyone should play this course...and not just once! Hardly a soul to be seen so we were able to play at a good pace and rythm...a moderate breeze was blowing making some holes more challenging than others, but each hole had it's characteristics making it the most enjoyable of golf courses. Wonderful fairways, undulating and twisting, leading to multi tiered greens with thoughtfully positioned pins. A Fab days golf not spoiled by a few wayward shots as this course was such a pleasure to play.

A decent course but a few greens could be better. Overall look of Kings Acre is pleasing on the eye and for the £20 we payed it was well worth the money.
Food was good with both myself and my playing partner opting for the full monty burger, very filling.
All the staff were all friendly enough as well.
This has always been one of the better courses in the Edinburgh area and usually doesn’t disappoint.
