Great value course
My favorite place to golf in the Syracuse area, best bang for your buck. Great grounds crew.
A rude owner
On July 15, 2020 at 12:50 pm I was practicing on the practice green.
A man, green t-shirt, jeans, around 220 lbs, who said he was the sole owner of the golf course, rudely said I couldn’t practice without paying.
First time I ever spoke to the man. He had been on a blue tractor preparing the outdoor volleyball courts.
I asked if this was a public course. He said yes.
I told him I’ve practiced many times at Pine Grove GC and never “paid” to practice on the practice green. I told I’ve played the course several times. I told him this is the first public course I’ve ever been told I had to “pay” to practice on a practice green. I’ve been a regular golfer for 40 years.
You would think, after the economic damage the Covid-19 virus has caused, that a businessman/owner would treat a person he meets for the first time with above and beyond courtesy to help bring back business.
Not this clown. And I will tell every golfer I know how I was treated.
Stay away. The condition of the course makes no difference (it’s an average public course). If one’s treated this way, then take your business elsewhere, there’s at least two more public courses in Camillus, NY.
Newer holes are nice.
redesigned holes are nice, the rest isnt that great. Wear a helmet, the caliber of player here is not very good and balls fly all over the place.
storms!
Weather was great until we hit the 14th - then the storms hit. Fortunately we were able to get off before. Course is in great shape - there are some places roped off as they did some drainage work and need to let the grass grow back in.
Good place!
Due to geography, the course can be a bit wet, especially with all the rain we have had in April and May. But the course was in great condition. There were some spots that were under "construction" and roped off as additional drainage pipes had been laid earlier in the season. The course is a bit short, but tough to score well.
Wonderful neighborhood course. Always well kept.
First Time Played
Gentleman in Club House was very friendly and accommodating. Course was in great shape. Distances were fair and if you stray from fairway, there is plenty of challenging trouble. Greens were true. I will play here again, and would recommend it to anybody.
Great Course
Id reccomend this course to anyone, I am one of the workers here and Rich Frank and every one are trying our best, Alot of new things coming to the course so stay tuned, Everyone will be happy with the changes, pin positions do change every monday and friday.
Grumpy clubhouse man.
Course was in good condition but gentleman who works in the clubhouse was very rude. Simply asked if we could go off the back 9 due to several two and foursomes in front of us on hole one and he said we were Golf Now users so we couldn't. Pace of play was extremely slow. 1:08 tee time turned into a 6:15 finish. I felt offended by the golf now comment but other than that the round was fun.
Course is Challenging but fair
The course tee boxes and fairways were in good shape, pay attention to the hole diagrams, hazards run across several fairways. Bunkers were very hard packed, chip from bunkers don't try to hit sand shot.
The greens ran true though there were a few with bumpy areas, easy to move your ball to avoid.
Overall had a good time
Nice Course
This course was a nice play. Pace was good. Fairways were burnt out in some places but overall not bad. One complaint was greens did have ball marks that weren't properly fixed and caused putting issues. Greens were soft so probably why there was so many marks. Liked the fact that there were 5 par 5s and 6 par 3s. Lots of water.
challenging
This course might seem easy, until you play it. All your shots need to be accurate or you will not score well. Frank and Will have done a very nice job keeping the course in great condition. The greens especially are very good. Recently a new hole was added (#8) as #2 and #3 were combined to make another par 5.
Not a fan of starting out with two consecutive par 5's, and really have not figured out how I want to play the #2 hole yet. There could be more/better information at the tee boxes (yards to a hazard, etc), but after one round you learn.
And the price is always good! $22 for 18 holes w/cart!
Great layout
All the holes have great character and the green complexes are incredible. Lots of water which makes for challenging holes. Great views of 9 mile creek and tons of trees. Some old holes are being redone and have more improvements on the way. As I was told by the very friendly staff.
