Beautiful long distance views from much of the course. Photo submitted by TatayG on 05/09/2018
Mill Creek 9/20/22
Last played here in about 2008. Course was beautiful then. Was really looking forward to playing there again and was Very Dissatisfied with the course conditions. Fairways and sand traps were in a word, terrible, as were most of the tee boxes. Greens were ok, grass was a little long.
Don’t think I would go back again.
Love this course, but..
Have played here before and really enjoy the layout. Actually one of my favorite courses in the county. Holes are challenging, but fair and very interesting - very fun course to play..
I.am not sure what is going on and unfortunately there was no explanation at the pro-shop , but fairway conditions we very bad - maybe a fungus or blight? Several of the sand traps have been unmaintained. I am not sure if they are transitioning them or letting them go. Hole 14 had almost a quarter acre of sand - most in disrepair.
I hope the course is not going out of business, but if I would them I would attach a.ketter if explanation on each cart so people can understand what is going on.
Go play
Course is improving coming out of the drought.
Doing a great job on their Bunkers.
Course is still recovering from the dry weather.
The fairways have a fair amount of bare spots and some greens are recovering. The grounds crew was working on the greens to help with the healing of the bare spots. The tall rough has been cut back all over so it is easier to find balls hit into it but there are still some thick spots that I guarantee that you don’t want to hit out of.
Mill Creek
We love playing this course & it is Bouncing back from the drought this summer
Hello, gc1008135779. Thank you for visiting us at Mill Creek Golf Club. We appreciate your 4-star rating and review. We hope you join us for another round soon.
Great course with a lot of improvements
Brand new carts, signage, course guide book and more is all provided when you play. Some of the best views in the state for golf to boot. A challenging 'open' style course, limited trees and wide fairways hide the difficulty well. Lots of hidden bunkers, uphill/downhill holes (some with a slope of over 50 feet!)
A treasure. I'm a big fan.

Where's the grass?
I was really excited to play this course. Everybody that I told said that I was in for a treat. When I arrived the clubhouse looked beatiful, the carts were fairly new with built-in coolers that had complimentary waters inside. So we got up to the first tee box and it was a little concerning. The tee box was very dry and pretty difficult to get a tee in the ground, but honestly if that's my only complaint for a course, that's fine. By the second hole it was apparent that there was something severely wrong with the course. There was no grass. People will think I'm exagerating, like, "oh the course must have been really dry and the grass was dead." No, there was no grass. A great baren desert. Let me tell you, you could play in a parking lot and the ball would have less roll than these fairways. The only place there was grass was maybe 30 feet leading up to the greens, and the greens themselves. But when the holes are all 400+ yards, you're hitting off of concrete most of the day. Oh and then there was the "sand." Second hole, my ball rolled about 100 yards off of my tee shot and landed in a bunker. The bunker was nothing more than a giant ditch in the ground, littered with drainage hoses, rocks, and what used to be sand. This was about half of the traps at the course. The other half of the traps were so thick with sand that when i stepped in one of them at the 8th hole my feet sank in up to my shins. Around hole 13-14 we caught up to the group ahead of us, an older group maybe in their 60's, and one of the guys dumped the ice-water from his cooler onto the tee box making a comment along the lines of, "look! I just did more maintenance than they have in months! How hard was that?!" We all laughed, and I think that pretty much sums up the whole experience pretty well. It was a joke. I tried to be understanding that there's drought issues and maybe they can't water as much as they should. However, I've played around 20 different courses in the rochester area this summer, and they were all in beautiful shape. I think it would've softened the blow a bit if I had just gotten some sort of warning from the staff before going out onto the course, but they didn't mention a thing. Really disappointing because it seems like it couldve been such a fun course. The course was also very poorly marked. The distance markers were inaccurate, so why even have them? The maps were completely unhelpful and at times it was a guessing game where the green even was, due to the fact that the entire course was a baren wasteland. We talked to the groups ahead of us and behind us up in the parking lot after the game and they all shared the same sentiment. They were both older groups in their 50's or 60's and they said they used to come here once a year or so for a great round of golf, but that this is the final straw and they will never come back. There's just no reason to pay mid-premium prices for this place when there's so many beautiful public courses in this region of new york. I mean I'm not a snob by any respect of the word. Craggie brae is right down the road, i think it's like 26 bucks for 18 holes there, half the price of mill creek. And they have GREEN GRASS! Try there instead. I also played twin hills a few days prior, also not far from mill creek, and it was in prestine condition. Just no excuse for this place. Don't go here.
Thank you for reviewing the course. Let us first start by apologizing for the poor experience you had during your visit. The current condition is by no means the standard we strive to achieve and are working diligently to improve the course. Thank you for playing and we hope to see you again soon.
Terrible
Fairways dry and hard as a rock. 5 hrs of slow play. Never going back.

Not what it used to be..............
Play was incredibly slow on the front nine. No ranger out to get groups playing at the correct pace. Fairways were baked to hard pan. The aprons and greens were in good condition but a bit shaggy. Tee boxes were in below average condition. The course is a beautiful piece of property and I get were in semi drought part of the summer but other courses aren't close to this dried out. Won't be back for a while, expected better conditions and pace of play.
Don’t listen to the haters
Ok so yes the course needed rain, and yes some of the bunkers were in rough shape. They are Probly having staffing problems like every industry these days. I was worried after reading other reviews before making the drive up. Let me tell you this is still a gorgeous course with challenging features and incredible views. I think some of the golf snobs that have been writing these review need to remember there paying roughly 40 for 18 holes with a cart…and two iced bottles of water! I look forward to coming back next year and playing again. Also worth noting the practice area is incredible if you get there early or love close and just want to hone in on your short game.
Thank you for taking the time to review us, hazzy103. Your feedback is valuable, and we appreciate your business. Mill Creek Golf Club thanks you!
Place has gone downhill fast
To start the practice green is twice as fast as the actual greens on the course. So you have to adjust as you go and no two greens are the same speed. The sand traps are actually hilarious because one will have almost a foot of sand and others have an inch, if that. Some traps are completely under repair or getting taken out because they’re too lazy to maintain them. When I walked in the pro shop no one was inside and I just grabbed my own cart after waiting 15 minutes for anyone to check in. I paid $6 for my round and feel I overpaid. You used to be able to compare this to Ravenwood or Blue Herron and now it’s just a sad to see another nice course get tore up. Should’ve taken some money they put into the new clubhouse and put it into the course

AMATEUR HOUR!!!
The course was in better shape from the last time I played it. The water was ON in the fairways. The tee markers ( by color) are pure amateur hour. They painted ONLY the top tilted edge so you CANNOT tell the difference until you are on top of it!!! COME ON, how about painting the entire piece of wood ! Can you find another way to SLOW DOWN play by having guys drive around to find the tee color?? Not sure this course has it together.
