Good course

Course was in good shape for this time of year. The pace of play was too slow. Group ahead of us had one female who chose to hit off white tee, and was hitting only 100 yards on drives.

A good solid muni course with Trent Jones features

Eisenhower White is a better than expected muni course. Most greens are large, pushed up and have bunkers left and right (typical of Trent Jones courses). The fairway corridors are fairly open with some trees but not overbearing. There is significant mounding between holes and the course has substantial bunkers in the faces of mounds and pot bunkers. The greens have some really good slopes and some ridges. The holes are fairly straight but the fairways weave through mounds and bunkers nicely. There is good variety in the hole lengths too. The course is also easy to walk. Not the most memorable or spectacular course but a good, solid, enjoyable round of golf.

Enjoyable and somewhat challenging

Every time I play the white course at Eisenhower, I walk off thinking that I left a lot of strokes out there. Its deceivingly challenging, especially for an intermediate golfer like me.

My recommendation is to be overly cautious about the traps. I was hitting into the wind most of the day, and even when i clubbed up, I would hit it short and land in one of those deep bunkers. Those bunkers can add up to a few triple bogeys really quickly. Yes, the course is mostly straight but, a few misplaced shots will completely kill your round. Also, if you hit your ball in that fescue that lines the sides of the fairways, good luck finding it. Yesterday I found myself in a lot of situations where I had to hit the ball 200 yards to get on in 2.

I would definitely recommend the White course.. Yeah, the 4+ hour pace of play can get a bit annoying, but again, its a public course in the middle of Nassau. Not a lot of 3.5 hour rounds around these parts.

Bring your long game, and have fun. I am looking forward to playing it again. Hopefully next time I can stay out of those traps!

Fast & Wet

Got out first group at 11:40a, rain most of the morning, the greens were recently aerated, amazing fast uphill and naturally downhill. Only white tees available with winter rules. Course drained well, fairways and rough in good shape due to mild winter. Had an enjoyable time with my friends.

Stay away

Golf at its most basic. Straight boring holes with elevated greens surrounded by bunkers. Can only play one type of shot into the greens . Must fly it in and the pins are on down slopes so the greens don’t hold . The addition of pot bunkers is the best thing about the course. If you’re from out of town stay away from here the pace of play is awfull and the green fees are outrageous . Plenty of good value courses just a bit east of here.

Not bad for March

Course conditions were not too bad considering that it's the beginning of March: fairways were good, greens rolling fast. Grass is not really growing yet, so all shots are "link style". No rakes in bunkers, no ball washers, no drinking water...

Nice Course

Booked through Golfnow if you’re from out of town or join the leisure pass membership if you’re Nassau residents. Course is kind of boring lack of doglegs and flat, but got some challenging holes coming back the stretch. All greens are elevated tilted to the front and protected by bunkers and many were converted to POP bunkers. So approaches better come in high, and don’t ever overshot the greens bcoz it’s too costly pitching pack into greens sloping away from the back! Good LUCK!!

Flat Fairway but Challenging Green

Played white course twice, I certainly enjoy my playing at White Course. The fairway is wide open and flat on most holes but the greens are always challenging! Hope u have fun playing at Eisenhower.

Beautiful Golf Day

Pleasantly surprised of the openness created by the removal of bushes and lack of fescue, helped make it easier to find errant tee shots (lol), all in all a wonderful round with no improvement in my scoring, I love how the new faux pot belly bunkers add character to the course.

Strange

Played here for the first time in 6 years. I stopped playing it because like most others have said, the course is literally 18 straight holes. Also every green complex is elevated and it’s a bit annoying if you have a low ball flight like me. I hit a ton of greens normally but it’s impossible at White because you have an elevated green with a deep pot bunker in front. I think they missed the point when they redesigned the course. Now I can’t tell you what RTJ calling card is as a designer but it seems half think this is his typical course and others don’t. I won’t try to even pretend I know.

A few years back they county finally dumped some money into it and added bunkers, mostly of the pot variety, removed trees and fixed some greens. I like that they tried to add life to the course and honestly they did. I do think they went overboard on the pot bunkers though and now it’s just a gimmick. Today the rough was higher than bethpage black! Seriously my group lost balls that were maybe a yard or two into the rough. Some might say then hit they fairway, but Im a 9 handicap and don’t play on tour so I should be allowed to miss a few fairways. Also $47 to walk that course is really steep. I guess when you’re desperate play here but blue is definitely a more fun track to go low and red is a tougher test

Solid Course, Great Greens, Enjoyable

The course has gone through major renovations over the years with the addition of numerous pot bunkers, so its safe to say the original RTJ design is down to the greens. Locals have said that the White's original layout was boring and repetitive. The addition of the new bunkers along with more defined fairways that are narrower and and slightly curved give each hole some depth and character. The greens are in great condition and rolled true and surrounded by fairway length runoffs that give some tight lies for chips and pitches. Pace of play was around 4 hours for 6am on a Saturday.

Boring golf course, drab layout

Course condition was good. Probably one of the most boring non challenging courses I’ve ever played. 9 holes out, 9 holes back. All flat and straight. All have slightly elevated greens . No personality whatsoever ever . Pace of play is always slow. No rangers patrolling the course to keep up the pace. The only course worth playing here is the red.

What a waste of a decent golf course.

Golf course superintendent this year decided to stretch the course. He moved the men's tees so far back most holes for 95% of golfers will be 3 shot holes. He is going crazy with the English style bunkers all over the place. He moved the tees too far back not taking into account the elevated greens that add yardage and the wind that always blows into your face half the time. So a 365 yard hole plays 380. Now he took the tee and made to a 410 yard hole that plays atleast 425 off the tee. What golfer you know will hit the green in 2. The Park ruined the course. Unless you like 3 shot golf on par 4's this course isn't for you.

You rusty cart pushing $16 hacker. Thank you now go dig into your pocket and get that old topflite and get l off the White course. I know you want 6 hours away from your wife please don't stink it up for us accomplished golfers on the Far Superior White course. Yes its hard and so is the senior rate you relish as you relish your trusty ginty to run your beat up top flite onto the green. Whites too hard for you... Then please I beg you stay on the Red ...it fits you just like the Wranglers you don so well

Nice Course, but not Trent Jones

Played 2/12/18, was windy, temps in the mid 40s. Course was very playable even after heavy rains, greens were smooth, fairways were smooth.

**Note**I don't evaluate clubhouses, amenities, and staff. I evaluate the golf course.

This course is advertised as being designed by Robert Trent Jones, I've played a lot of Jones courses and I just don't see many Trent features out here. The routing is very strange, basically straight out and straight back on both nines. The front plays 4 holes out and 5 back, Back nine plays 4 out, one across, and 4 straight back. Very little in the way of doglegs. The circular bunkers are also features that I've never seen on a Trent Jones course, and even if the course isn't Trent anymore, they're just out of place. The diagonal fairway bunkers on 7, 10, and 12 are cool features, but almost certainly not Trent Jones. The dual par 3s that the course has (i.e. every par 3 hole has a duplicate running next to it, so the course maintains 22 holes rather than 18) are interesting, but odd at the same time.

One feature that is terribly out of place, and really disconcerting, (and most certainly not a Trent Jones feature) are the stacked Astro-Sod bunkers. They just don't make any sense. Frankly, they look terrible. The doughnut bunker on 13 is the worst, it just doesn't fit with the course, doesn't fit the terrain where it's placed, and is really a blight on an otherwise good hole.

OK, now that I've ragged on the course...at the end of the day, it's a municipal course that charges between $22 and $50 for 18 holes of golf (rates vary with residency, age, etc.). Even with all the oddities, it's a fair round and the course is varied enough to keep your interest for the duration of the round. I'd recommend it to someone who is in the area looking for a reasonably priced round.

Decent, basic course with interesting greens

The White course is a simple, straightforward, typical Robert Trent Jones course, with mostly straight fairways, fairway bunkers near landing areas, and pushed up, elevated big greens with high flashed large bunkers guarding. The course gets repetitive but the greens are very good, with subtle slopes and contours. The course is relatively flat and easy to walk. There is nothing special but it is a decent track for a casual round.

Straight forward, long-ish muni course

This is my usual course since it is pretty close to home. I'm normally here at twilight, racing the sun.

It's your typical old-school, basic muni course. The conditions are pretty average. It depends on the time of the year because there's a tremendous amount of play at this course which obviously degrades the conditions. You pay through a windowed booth, check in with the starter and you're off. I play later in the day, so if there are marshals I haven't seen any. There is a snack shack in the middle, but I have no idea if it is in use since I'm out so late.

The course itself is nothing special. It's mostly repetitive, straight holes with raised bunkers protected by sand. There is no water and a few of the holes are alongside semi-busy roads with a chain link fence dividing you from it.

The grass alongside the fairway seems to be on the long side recently. There are double-par 3s, which I guess is to help with traffic, although one of them always seems to be a little neglected, missing a flag, etc.

It's long enough (6900+) to be a decent walk and it's close to home, so I continue to come here because its convenient.

GOOD WALKING COURSE, FAIRLY FLAT. LOTS OF TRAPS PROTECTING THE GREENS.

ROBERT TRENT JONES DESIGNED COURSE. LOTS OF TRAPS. NO WATER. PAR 3'S HAVE ALTERNATE TEES AND GREENS TO SPEED UP PLAY. NON RESIDENT RATE WITH CART WOULD HAVE BEEN 85 OR 90 DOLLARS SO THE GOLF NOW RATE WAS LESS THAN HALF. ACTUALLY GOT OUT BEFORE MY SCHEDULED TEE TIME.
