Really Odd behavior from Staff
I went golfing yesterday with a fellow University of Rochester student who isn’t white. We paid for everything, and we were out golfing on the course when an older man came out in his cart and parked in front of us. He demanded to see proof that we paid to play, accusing us of sneaking on the course. We both were dressed really professionally. I’ve been playing here since I was 12, and something like this has never happened before. I’m not sure if it was because my friend isn’t white, or because we both look like we’re in our early twenties, but I was really confused and upset by this. Definitely won’t be returning.
Overrated and Underkept
Every time I place this course I get more and more disappointed. Conditions have drastically gone down hill over the past few years. They’re now at the point where the county courses have better tee boxes and greens. The greens were the worst greens I have rolled on in years. Dead spots everywhere, look like they’ve not been rolled in weeks. No one repairing pitch marks that look days old. Looks like the mow before repairing anything on the greens too because there are tearouts everywhere. Every put could turn into a midterm route if you didn’t spend a good deal of time trying to repair the many spots in your line that would cause a putt to go array. I can’t complain too much about the price because I got a great golf now deal, but how this course is able to charge $60 for a round on the regular is beyond me. Even with the golf now deal it was not worth the 4.5 hours to play. There are courses in every direction Shadow Lake being one of them that bring in less money but the course is always in substantially better place. Something is going on at Eaglevale though and the effort is just not there to keep the course up to the level they claim it to be. Would not recommend it. A real shame too because I’ve had a lot of fun at this track in the past.
Rushed
So they paired our 2 with another 2 which is fine. 3 people in the group are slower players just taking time with each shot which is fine. Some people play faster some play slow. We were on a 4hour 15 minute pace for the round. Group behind us was a fast playing group called the club house and the ranger came to speed us up. Which was rude because our pace was average and the course was packed. Will never play again.
Get a round in before the season is over!
Love playing here. Even had a chance to play a couple holes with some of the staff. . . Jack and Bill. Great guys. I asked them how often they play here. They replied: “2 to 3 times each week.”
If the employees play the course that often, I’m not one to disagree with them.
If you have never been, I highly recommend this course.
Soaring high at Eagle Vale
Love this course, the cuts are always well maintained. The greens are cut low and fast.
I’ll be coming back!
7-8 min tee times
This course has a nice layout but they are squeezing every dollar they can with 7 mins between tee times. By 8:50 they were already 20 mins behind. Need 10 min tee times to make the round bearable.
Hot day. By the end I was just bored and hot, and my golf swing suffered. Easy excuse for an average golfer to make.
Probably wouldn’t play there again especially on a weekend
Excellent course
Challenging yet fun course to play with enough obstacles to make it interesting.
