New ownership making a difference!
I recently read other reviews about how the new ownership is making a difference. I played here a couple years ago and it was pretty rough. I can absolutely see positive changes happening. For early Feb, the course looks like it’s going to be in great shape this spring as the grass starts growing. It was in great shape! Also the restaurant/bar looks amazing and looking forward to coming back again.
Just played.
Very enjoyable experience. Great course and club house. If you haven’t played here in a while, you need to give it a visit. The new owner is serious about turning this course around from its past reputation. It’s a whole new ballgame at Cimarrone!
Upgrade staff
Course overall in very good condition
Greens could be faster Restaurant was excelllent
Love this course!
A must play in the JAX / St. Augustine area. The clubhouse is completely refurbished. Tee boxes, fairways and sand traps are groomed and excellent. The greens roll straight and true. Staff is friendly and professional. With water on 16 holes and mounds around the greens, it is the closest thing to TPC Sawgrass, style, but for a fraction of the price. This course will test every shot in your bag!! And don’t forget to try the dining room. It is closed on Monday, but the food is very good for lunch and dinner.
Pleasantly Surprised
I started vacationing for the winter a couple years back and had heard several bad reviews on the quality of the course. Using golf now I would just skip right past. The other day I saw a hot deal and decided to read the reviews. The reviews were fairly positive so I thought I’d give the course a shot. I was not disappointed! You can clearly tell they are putting money back into the course. Greens were a little slow but consistent. It won’t take a hot deal to get me to come back.
Good value
Continues to be our go to course when visit the area.Entertaining course at a good price..
Crab cake sandwich is tasty!
Not worth what they are charging
Bag drop- I dropped off my clubs and went to park only to find them sitting then I left them while the bag attendant sat in a cart on his phone. Never greeted me, never asked my name or tee time, nothing.
Course Conditions- Greens were rough and tee boxes were a mess.
F&B- Non existent. I asked the gentleman inside the Pro Shop when I paid what time the Bev Cart attendant would be out there and he said she was already out there. We did not see her on the front 9 at all. At the tee box of Hole #8, our Golf Cart tablet system alerted us with a reminder to order lunch before hitting the turn (which we thought was a great idea and a great feature), so we both ordered grilled chicken sandwiches. We pulled up to the bar at the turn and the bartender doesn’t greet us, hardly acknowledges us and I have to get her attention (we were the only people in the bar). I gave her my name and what we ordered and her only response was “best I can do is a turkey or ham sandwich”. I asked about the grilled chicken and she finally told me the kitchen is closed on Mondays. I informed her that the in-cart tablet system alerted us to order lunch and she said “well that’s wrong, we’re closed”. I suggested she tell someone who controls the tablet system to turn off that feature for the day so it doesn’t affect any other golfers, but she didn’t acknowledge my suggestion. My friend then asked her if we would see the Bev Cart attendant on the back nine and the bartenders response was “one was scheduled but she didn’t show up, so obviously not” (as if we were supposed to know their attendant no showed that day). Very off putting and with so many course options in the area on CR210, World Golf Village, Ponte Vedra etc. I would rather pay a little more and get a far better experience. I don’t think we will be returning for a while, at least not until there are some major changes, especially in staff training and hospitality.
PLAYED TODAY
Toughest layout next to TPC Sawgrass for a fraction of the price. To tell the truth, current conditions at Cimarrone are better than some of the times I’ve played TPC Sawgrass.
