Amelia River Golf Club is located on Amelia Island, just north of Jacksonville and within minutes of the historic town of Fernandina Beach. Renowned as one of the best-conditioned courses in the area with incredibly smooth greens, sculpted around a forest of majestic Live Oaks, Sable Palms, Pines and Wax Myrtles.

This par 72 track, designed by Tom Jackson, plays to a yardage of 6,823 from the back tees. It's pristine condition features well manicured rolling fairways, smooth bunkers and greens that challenge all skill levels. This course is unique in character and is a treat to play.

Amelia River consists of 18 holes of challenging golf where ball control and accuracy are keys to a great game. The fairways are wide and open, giving the golfer a sense of a traditional Scottish links course on some holes and a narrow tree lined experience on others. The 13th hole is a good example of the course’s challenges. This long par five runs along the border of the Fernandina Beach Airport and is a strategic three shot hole. Too long and left at lay up and you will have to deal with a water hazard. The wind can play havoc with this hole as it reminds one of an open links style design. In contrast #9 is a tree lined par four with very little room for error and includes a forced carry over Alligator Creek.

The signature 17th hole is a par three surrounded by water demanding an accurate shot to the island green which closely resembles another very famous golf hole in our area! The final hole ends at the edge of the Amelia River and its expansive tidal marsh.

Friendly and challenging

2nd time here in last 2 months. Very nice staff. Taylormade club rentals $25. Limited covid-19 protocols in place: no rakes, but holes and flags set normally ( not raised ) Can still ride 2 to a cart.
No course layout on card so app with this info is helpful ( the are some blind water hazards across fairways the require layup. Lots of tee choices (5)

Wait for it

Fairways are nonexistent, greens were Fair with Probably 60% in good shape. Tee boxes are rough also. We were told new management just took over and you could see some work being done but definitely not worth the money right now. Maybe in a couple months

Love this course- but

15 out of 18 greens were 5 star, the balance had weeds. 15 out of 18 fairways were a mix of weeds, dirt and grass. Absolutely love the layout of this course, no homes on the course and just beautiful land. But the conditions were less than good. I would recommend this course, but my money will be spent at Oak Marsh until they straighten the conditions out. See you in 6 weeks Amelia River-

Amelia River losing ground

Booked online through golf now for a good price. The course has a great layout and design but the conditions of the tees and fairways are in bad shape. The crab grass has taken over and this makes a lot of shots difficult from the middle of the fairway. The range balls will no longer be included in price of play and they are leaving Golfnow, which we were told by the clubhouse. Hopefully they can get the conditions fixed. Always loved playing this course but I will look at others first now.

Cow Pasture Conditions

The Good - Friendly Bag Boys, Friendly restaurant staff and decent lunch, friendly starter. Decent driving range with brand new Callaway range balls.

The Bad- The starter started by apologizing for the course conditions... The course is in horrific condition, 15 of 18 fairways could be compared to a cow pasture, bare spots, weeds growing, etc. Tee boxes, rough around the greens consisted of weeks and bare spots.

My foursome flew down for the Players Championship that was canceled, so we played seven rounds of golf over five days. Amelia River Golf Club was by far the worst course conditions we experienced out of the seven courses that we played.

We paid $69.00 each to play here at 1:15pm on 3/15/20, which was a complete ripoff. I wouldn't have paid $39.00 if I had previously know the course conditions.

Read recent reviews - you have been warned.

Amelia Island golf

Very nice course. Interesting but not excessively difficult. Worst feature was conditions of the fairways. Greens were excellent though. Would have liked a diagram of the holes on the scorecard as we ran into a stream running through periodically. Staff excellent. Rental clubs average, but, hey, a hole in one on 12 so who can complain!

Decent course for the money

I had a novice golfer with so, so this course turned out to be perfect, in that he could spray the ball a bit and still stay relatively in play. The fairways could’ve been in better shape and the greens were pretty hairy and slow. I’m not sure what other area courses are like this time of year in northeast Florida, but I was a little disappointed in the overall conditions. The layout was OK, and a simple course map would help with regards to a few of the doglegs and hazard areas.
The staff was great and the amenities were great.

The layout is excellent with a variety of tees for every level of play. This is the winter season and the greens are above average. The fairways are in bad condition. Little or no grass with clumps of weeds.

Rich

Played on a cool day, about 56 degrees. Not many players so was able to play in 3 hours with one other player. Played cart path only because of the weather. Course conditions were just ok. Fairways need
Improvement. Greens were very nice but a bit slow. Nice facility and would play again. Have played this course over the last 10 years on my visits to Amelia Island mostly in February.

Lots of fun

Played it twice this week. Wish we had a layout card. Enough water but not too tough. Some tight fairways but many open. Great to bring first timers as the course twists and turns but is very fair. I’ll be back!

Amelia River GC

First time playing in a couple of years. New owners. Staff was very friendly! Greens are good, fairways leave a lot to be desired. For what they charge, not a good deal. No course layout book provided. 18 is automatic second shot penalty for non-members that don't know the course. For February conditions, pricing should probably be about 8-10 dollars cheaper.

Early February

Day started off at 42 degrees but by noon it was sunny and 60. With shorts and a vest I was totally comfortable.
Playred with some regulars, Frank and Steve who we fine fellows and good golfers. Really enjoyed the round but would have had more fun knowing about the stream crossings. Lost a few balls, unnecessarily

Great course and will play again.
