The Amelia River Club is located on Amelia Island, just north of Jacksonville and within minutes of the historic town of Fernandina Beach. Renowned as one of the best-conditioned courses in the area with incredibly smooth greens, sculpted around a forest of majestic Live Oaks, Sable Palms, Pines and Wax Myrtles.

This par 72 track, designed by Tom Jackson, plays to a yardage of 6,823 from the back tees. It's pristine condition features well manicured rolling fairways, smooth bunkers and greens that challenge all skill levels. This course is unique in character and is a treat to play.

The Amelia River consists of 18 holes of challenging golf where ball control and accuracy are keys to a great game. The fairways are wide and open, giving the golfer a sense of a traditional Scottish links course on some holes and a narrow tree lined experience on others. The 13th hole is a good example of the course’s challenges. This long par five runs along the border of the Fernandina Beach Airport and is a strategic three shot hole. Too long and left at lay up and you will have to deal with a water hazard. The wind can play havoc with this hole as it reminds one of an open links style design. In contrast #9 is a tree lined par four with very little room for error and includes a forced carry over Alligator Creek.

The signature 17th hole is a par three surrounded by water demanding an accurate shot to the island green which closely resembles another very famous golf hole in our area! The final hole ends at the edge of the Amelia River and its expansive tidal marsh.

Best golf course in the area

The Amelia River Club is by far the best course in the area! I have played a ton of courses in the Jax area and this course is by far my favorite. The staff are helpful and friendly and the food at the bar and grill is delicious. The tee boxes, fairways are in great shape, but the Greens are the best around!! Definitely be back to play again!

It's ok.

Online photos make the course look better than it is. I paid $140 a person on a Monday and that was a hot deal. Only to look when I got home at other days and prices to see it was $75 on Wednesday and Thursday. Plenty of better courses priced much better. Live and learn I guess.

Membership has its privileges.

Played here a few years ago and was totally satisfied with my experience as I was this time. Only reason for the review is to prepare others who truly enjoy a walking experience and/or its exercise benefits that walking this course is a MEMBERS-ONLY-PRIVILEGE. Don’t even offer to pay the full cart fee to tote your bag…they will say NO. Will add that those I saw walking this course and exercising their privileges did very little to increase the pace of play, thus the 2-Star rating above.

Steady as always

This course is always a good option for players who are not private club members as it's a solid layout, has good greens, overseeded fairways, a great pro shop, and a killer kitchen.

The carts need to be refreshed and they did add GPS to them which is a nice plus. Always a pleasant experience to play the river club.

Not worth full price

Just ok. Definitely not worth more than 70$ to play. The fairways were pretty beat up, but greens were good…. Just a little fuzzy and hard.. no ball marks being made. There was no water on the course and no beverage cart. The facility’s were nice, but out on the course I felt the grounds should have been better kept. Dead palms and lots of debris that just need cleaning up. They need to tighten up a bit for 150$ golf.

Decent course in good condition. We got a hot deal at $127, if we'd paid full price I think we'd have been disappointed. Clubhouse area is very nice spot for food.

Enjoyable Round

We play Amelia River every time we visit Amelia Island. The course is well run and always in great shape, though the greens were a little slower than expected. The staff are always friendly and welcoming.

First time

Overall course is good, pin placements are approachable, and conditions of greens are very good. Fairways are not in good shape with many areas distressed. Given then the green fees, the course should be in better shape. All staff were great, engaged and helpful.
I will be back.

The holes by the airport are terrific. Those by the River (1,2,18) are too narrow and chopped up.
