Kirriemuir Golf Club
About
Kirriemuir Golf Club, designed by James Braid, lies in the heart of Scotland's golfing country, 18 miles from Carnoustie and 35 miles from St. Andrews. No fewer than eight Open final qualifying golf courses are within a 45-minute drive.
Avenues of woods, gorse and broom surround lush, undulating fairways with greens that are impeccable and true. The views are inspiring, particularly from the fourth hole, with Lochnagar in the distance.
Like many of the great golf courses, Kirriemuir's best is reserved for the finish. The 17th, named Braid's Gem, is a 180-yard par-3 hole, with the green guarded by two majestic trees both left and right. No. 18 is a difficult par 4, uphill with a large oak tree blocking the right half of the fairway.
The par-68 heathland/parkland layout measures 5,518 yards from the back tees.

Kirriemuir
Enjoyed a great Sunday afternoon playing 18 holes with my wife. The course was in great condition and even the weather was wonderful. Made for a superb round in great company. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and welcoming.
Great course
Smashing golf course . We could only play the front 9 due to the recent heavy rain but what we played was great . We played the front 9 twice but the will return in the near future to play the back 9 .
Great friendly staff who were really helpful
First visit
Overall I was really happy with my first visit to Kirrie golf club. I was welcomed by friendly staff who were happy to help. Apparent members were also friendly and approachable.
A midweek visit in the morning allowed me plenty time to play and I was not held up by the groups ahead. I imagine the course would be busy at weekends.
Although there was a small club shop it was limited to snacks and essential equipment (balls, tees, gloves etc).
The clubhouse was good and the coffee was decent! Wish I had time to stay for lunch as the food looked great!
Next time I would try to find out when the greenkeeping staff would be maintaining the course and try to avoid as this was a real distraction with noise and movement of machinery (probably not an issue to the seasoned player!). That said, the course is very well maintained and the greens are excellent (faster than any I've played!). Lovely forgiving fairways.
Some of the trolleys and carts were showing their age but appeared adequate.
I would definitely recommend a visit and I hope to be back very soon.
Lovely Parkland Course
This course is challenging for mid-handicap players, yet forgiving for those learning the game with wide fairways and large greens. The course has a great layout, well presented and maintained. The clubhouse facilities are modern, fresh and welcoming. Definitely recommend.
Great challenge all levels of golfer.
A lovely course in the heart of Angus with great views and some challenging holes. Worth the visit if you are in the area, staff are friendly and accommodating with tee times.
A Favourite Local Course
Have played this course on a number of occasions and have been impressed every time. Started the day with coffee and rolls at the clubhouse. Staff couldn’t have been more friendly and all 4 of us thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast. While not the longest of courses, it is a good challenge and definitely tested our short games. None of us managed to play to our handicaps, which probably says it all. The course, particularly the greens, was immaculate and I hope that we get a chance to return before long and perhaps score a little better with our improved course knowledge!
Decent
Quite a few 4 balls out in front so play was a bit stop start. Not an overly difficult course but punishing in parts. Would absolutely play again.
Fairly short course - no par fives
Very friendly and helpful staff. Course was in great condition especially for this time of year. Greens really good. Lots of nice holes. There was a group outing in front of us but we moved quite well. Would recommend a visit if in the area.
Cheap and cheerful
Resembled a typical pay and play course. Divots left by hackers, pitch marks left on greens etc. Not the easiest walk either, it might be a short walk but there are plenty of notable climbs and it was a tiring stroll. Staff were very friendly and the greens, pitch marks withstanding, were a bit nippy. The way I played (awfully) didn’t fill my happy bag so I don’t want to be too negative. It’s ok, it’s cheap, you get what you pay for.
Great easy going for walking
Course in good condition friendly staff made to feel welcomed definitely go back
Wonderful Kirriemuir
