About

Holes 18

Rating N/A

For being an old, classic inland links/parkland layout, Monifieth's par-71 Medal Course is lengthy even by modern standards, at 6,655 yards from the championship tees, and 6354 from the middles. And the wind, as pointed out by Mr. Miller, can make it play much, much longer. Even more importantly, the wind accentuates the spin on poor shots, bringing into play some of the most treacherous hazards, OB, and gorse to be found on any Scottish golf course. Holes 1-6, 13, 16, and 18 all feature OB on the right side from tee to green. And Monifieth's remaining holes hold little promise of relief, as the gorse and fescue appear to be thicker and wilder than most Scottish links.

Traditional links golf that is accessible, reasonable and enjoyable

If you wish to play a traditional links course in NE Scotland, Monifieth is an excellent course at a much more reasonable price than courses such as Carnoustie or St. Andrews. We were very warmly welcomed by all staff and greatly enjoyed learning the intricacies of playing a traditional links course. The course was not difficult at all to walk. If we are ever fortunate enough to visit Scotland again, we will definitely return to Monifieth.

Great value. Bargain

Lovely course and easy to walk.
Got it for a bargain which is just as well as there were restrictions due to recent bad weather. Would definitely recommend. Started with a birdie which helps.

Moneifith link

We play Moneifith link on a Saturday afternoon with decent weather.
The course, cause the rain in the past days , was quite wet .
Green not bad but plenty of water around...
To be onest for a course with such an heritage condition have to be better.
Staff was friendly expecially the starter.
We have problems to have a beer after the round , the doors were closed and nobody came to open....

Nice challenging course

For our first round of golf in Scotland Monifieth was perfect to set us in the ambiance. The 6 first holes with the wind in front are tough. You have the challenge. The course is in great condition, challenging greens with hidden slopes.
Thanks to Rob, that he was very nice and helpful while receiving us for our tee time, his explanations were very useful.

Great course and excellent value for money.

Course in good condition, greens running well and fast.
Great value for money.
Shame off red tees but get the process of resting areas at this time of year.
Friendly staff member in pro shop, disappointing no clubhouse facilities before or after when a midday tee time.
Definitely return.

Winter golf

Course was frozen solid so £35 seemed a bit steep.
Still enjoyed the exercise and will come back in the summer. 4 ball in front refused to let me through and made me feel i was pressurizing them . I was plying well but stood waiting at every tee which is annoying when its a cold day.

Still fantastic in November

Got a nice day for it and were not disappointed, loads of rain leading up to our game but the course was still in fantastic shape and the greens were brilliant, started with birdie never lost a ball and the sun shone all the way round what more can an average golfer ask for?

Links course

Monifieth is a busy course . It had 5 holes on winter greens but full greens probably could have been played on . Greens were all right but not as good as Montrose up the coast . Very friendly starter which made us feel very welcome .

Monifieth Golf Course Feb

During the winter they rotate the greens with 6 temp greens, course layout in winter seems to be different as my Garmin got lost round the 12/13 or maybe it was just my watch., Fairways and Greens in good condition and players very friendly no issue getting waved through as a single. Will play again in the summer

Looking forward to playing in the summer

Great welcome and information given by the starter and although the course was reduced in distance and there were some winter greens on, the design and the layout was excellent and well worth the visit.
