Monifieth Golf Links - The Medal Course
About
For being an old, classic inland links/parkland layout, Monifieth's par-71 Medal Course is lengthy even by modern standards, at 6,655 yards from the championship tees, and 6354 from the middles. And the wind, as pointed out by Mr. Miller, can make it play much, much longer. Even more importantly, the wind accentuates the spin on poor shots, bringing into play some of the most treacherous hazards, OB, and gorse to be found on any Scottish golf course. Holes 1-6, 13, 16, and 18 all feature OB on the right side from tee to green. And Monifieth's remaining holes hold little promise of relief, as the gorse and fescue appear to be thicker and wilder than most Scottish links.

Not worth the money
In my opinion it was an average course but greens fees were high. Crieff is a much better value.
Good Links course
Had a great day at Monifieth starting off by being welcomed to the course by Brian the starter who took the time to explain about the course layout and amenities.
Although I played it in November the greens were in great condition but tricky to read the course was in good condition would definitely play again.
Great course
Very good hot deal which made it tremendous value. Excellent conditions and friendly welcome. This course is a lot better than the rankings suggest.

Fantastic course in very good condition. A must for any players looking to play golf on the East coast of Scotland
Monifieth
Top drawer traditional links. Great summer links conditions, burnt fairways and fiery greens. Good fun.
Excellent
Brilliant day. We were very lucky to get a brilliant sunny day with a slight breeze. The starter was great - everything ran on time. Course was baked hard and running like a proper links course. Greens were superb and ran very true. The pace of play was slow - just over 4 hours but worked well for us to be paired with two other chaps who had booked the same GolfNow deal. Recommend the golfers grill in the clubhouse also!
For £25 each - this is the best value for money you will see anywhere.
Monifieth medal
Excellent Course. Friendly welcome at the Starters Hut and enjoyed a tough but very playable round of golf. First few holes into the wind were tricky but back nine made amends!
Great course
Thoroughly enjoyed playing this course only for the 2nd time, certainly will be back!! Course in great condition.
Links
The Medal course is a good golfing challenge. Condition was how I would expect for a links course at this time of year. I'd be happy to be a member of this course. Will definitely add it to my list of courses to play again if I'm in the area.
Challenging on Windy Day
Played on a windy day which made it challenging. Down wind - ball would roll far but was difficult to hold greens with high approach shots. And challenging coming back Into the wind. So played like a typical Links course. Greens very really fast but bit bare in patches due to general late growth across Scotland.
We managed to get a Golf Now time at £25 each which was great value for money. Otherwise prices would have been a bit steep. That said it is the course Tom Watson played as a practise before winning the Open at Carnoustie.
If you every get chance also play Montrose which is just up east course. A great course - and also the 2nd oldest 18 hole course in the world after the Old course (and the 5th oldest altogether (when you take into account 9 holes courses)
Long but didn’t feel it.
Was playing off white tees so a bit long for me. Course in good condition and a great challenge. Will be back.
Angus golf trip.
Great traditional links course but like other courses in Scotland suffering from the cold dry spring weather.
Beautiful course
Excellent course and great hospitality from starter and guys in clubhouse, defo be back
Great Course
Simply one of the best courses I have ever played, no wonder Tom Watson chose to play here. Given the terrible weather we have had the course was in immaculate condition. Unbelievable condition the course was in, first class. Layout, playability is outstanding, stunning views and stunning holes not a bad one on the 18. Very challenging. A credit to the greenstaff and members for hospitality and condition of the course.
Monifieth
Given the fact that Greenkeepers will have had less time and resources to prepare golf course, the course was in excellent condition, there were a few greens hollow tined but they were still fine to putt on. It is a good challenge of golf with some interesting holes. The scenery is lovely and the course is easy walking.
