Ballumbie Castle Golf Club has an interesting and diverse layout where no two holes are even remotely similar. Located on the outskirts of Dundee, the course was a welcome addition since the area was mostly lacking in parkland courses. Golfers can expect to use most of the clubs in their bag, but not necessarily a driver on the first six holes where accuracy is more important than distance. Water hazards come into play on four holes. One of the most notable holes is the par-4 10th, which features a burn alongside the fairway, a sloping bank to the right, and a pond to the left. Ballumbie Castle Golf Club also offers a driving range and it is conveniently located less than two miles from Carnoustie.

So slow

Played Sunday morning in a 2 ball - there were 2 four balls in front and the pace of play was horrendous - decent players however took ages to tee off and ages on each green - we ended up walking off will never play this course at that time again

Dodgy tees

Played this course for the 3rd time today and was shocked to find the condition of the tees from previous visits shame really as it’s well laid out and greens very nice. One more point is the new house build is getting a bit excessive nearly engulfing the whole course now.But everything else about this course just makes you keep coming back.

Been a, while

Was a member of the course around 12 years ago and it was a bit different today with the growth of trees and shrubbery and lots more houses round the course. Still an enjoyable day out with decent greens and good value for money. Friendly bar staff but no catering today was disappointing but new catering by end of month. All in all a good days golf

Balumbie Castle Course

An interesting and varied course
Quite a distance between some holes
Bunker sand could be better
Good clubhouse with excellent outdoor seating
Ample car parking
Would benefit from more signage to guide golfers there because it does not come up on satnav
Extremely good value and I have no hesitation in recommending

Not bad

Ballumbie is a nice course but can't help feel a few of the holes have been ruined by the houses being built. There's constantly too much of a backlog of golfers because they don't space their tee times out very well which puts unnecessary pressure on the average to high handicap players when the group behind are say sub 10 handicaps.

It's a nice course and is usually always in great condition but they need to address the constant queue of golfers at certain points

Excellent course

Very nice course, we paid 14 pounds for our round each. Absolute bargain. Stunning for that price. Unbeatable, we were not held up at all even although there was 4 balls ahead. Really impressed.

Terrible Greens

Playing this course, the biggest disappointment were the greens. Everywhere else on the course is well maintained but the greens were terrible. It may be April but I would expect better and other local courses aren't as bad as this. Pitchmarked, whole patches where new grass has been transplanted, bare in others. All very bumpy. Disappointing
