Abbey Springs Golf Course
About
Abbey Springs Golf Course in Fontana is routed through mature woodlands that give it a peacefully secluded feel. Surrounded by countryside and enclosed within towering trees, the course is an ideal getaway. The challenging course has small, sloped greens and water hazards that come into play on half of the holes. It is a golf course that requires accuracy, especially when maneuvering past the strategically placed bunkers that lurk beside the greens. There are plenty of challenges in store for more advanced players, but beginners can still approach the course with confidence. The excellent condition of the course is also a feature that any golfer can appreciate. Abbey Springs Golf Course's signature hole is the par-4 17th, which offers what might be the most scenic of all the vistas on the course. This hole plays from an elevated tee that overlooks Lake Geneva.

Great Gem of Lake Geneva
Abbey Springs always seems to please. The course was in very good shape, only down fall was the greens were very firm which made normal iron shots in the greens hardly ever stop. Greens were fast rough was challenging but fair. The course is tight but not target golf you just have to hit it well off the tee and you can be in position to have a good score. The view from the 12th and the 17th are awesome. You get a great view of the famous Lake Geneva. This is a must play if coming to the Lake Geneva area it does not disappoint.
Beauty and the beast
A true gem...picturesque. ..mature.....magnificent. ....greens are slick.. undulating. ..fairways are tree lined with plenty of elevation change....prepare to be frustrated!...... but do take the time to play it
Do Not Miss Out on Playing This Golf Course
Having lived less than an hour away from Abbey Springs for 20 years, I have come up with excuse after excuse for not playing the course during that time frame. "It's probably overpriced...it's probably overplayed...it's probably too this or probably too that..." I was so very wrong on all accounts. I was able to get a good price on a tee time that fit my schedule needs on Golfnow.com and the course is every bit as good as the prior reviews here indicate. The greens were in terrific shape, the views were outstanding as advertised, and all of the members of the staff that I encountered were friendly and courteous. There is no doubt that I will be back to golf there in the future and I now regret that it took me so long to play there in the first place.
A wonderful day at Abbey Springs
This course is an absolute gem amongst the many beautiful courses in the area......found the course a few years ago.....now play it all the time when in the Lake Geneva area...or, in this most recent case, well worth the trip driving down from Madison......always have some combination of my sons with me.....they all love it......and, of course, the 17th hole is the frosting on the cake.
Breathtaking
Had never played this course before. What a treat. Don't be fooled, you need to hit the ball straight to avoid trouble. The greens were fast, but fair thru all 18 holes. Lots of undulations in the fairways, and greens. The course was in great shape. On the back 9, every hole was more beautiful than the one before. The 17th hole, WOW is al I can say. Play this course, you won't be disappointed. If I had one negative, it would be that on two holes, two different grounds keepers, cutting grass, followed us down the fairways. That was annoying.
Tremendous value
Booked through golf now for 60. Did not eat there. Golf shop has great selection of apparel.
Awesome!
Best course I've played in a long time. Greens were perfect. Customer treatment was great! Awesome food and beverage. Great value.!!
Very challenging course. Beautiful views.
Lot of WOW tee shots(steep uphill and downhill shots). Course was in very good condition. Undulating greens were pretty fast but rolled true. Pro-shop staff was friendly, helpful & engaging. Maintenance staff needs a serious lesson in manners:
1. Please pause your mowers and weed whackers when golfers are very near.
2. Please don't ignore golfers and continue to mow down the middle of the fairway when golfers tee off. After looking at us directly.
3. Please don't give us dirty looks because we want to tee off before you finish mowing the tee box.
4. Please don't park a variety of maintenance vehicles in the middle of fairways.
Come on guys, really?
Other than encounters with the maintenance guys, and lack of outside service or inside service(no drinks or food available) our experience was very nice despite being cold and a bit rainy, I would play here again.
Beautiful course
Abbey Springs exceeded our expectations. The course is pretty difficult but has a lot of character. There are dramatic elevation changes, lots of trees and large undulated greens. Design has a lot of variety. Course is a little difficult to find the first time.
Challenging greens, nice course layout
It's a great course. You need to be careful on approach shot to green, so ball stays on the green. Greens are well kept, fast and true. quite difficult and fun to play. The fairways are great.
What a Great Course!!
What an awesome course in great condition. Had a golf trip booked with a few buddies at Geneva National and decided to play Abbey Spring first. I am glad we did! The Golf Shop staff and they Head Professional were extremely friendly and accommodating. If you are ever in the Lake Geneva area put this one on your list. Good front 9 and even better back 9 with some awesome views. I did end up playing all three courses at Geneva National but would have rather played 3 more rounds at Abbey Springs.
Great Course
What an awesome course with some great holes especially on the back 9. Was on a golf trip with a few friends to play Geneva National. We booked an early round first at Abbey Springs and what a great experience. The golf staff and the Head Professional were very friendly and accommodating. I would have rather played here all week instead of Geneva National. Make sure you stop and play a round @ Abbey Springs if you are in the Lake Geneva area.
Awesome!
Great course, hard greens. Beautiful scenery! A must play when in the Lake Geneva area.
For a high end course Worst conditions ever!!!!
Teen boxes super unlevel and not cut.....greens so very slow and shaggy very beat up. Abbey is suppose to be the premier course never going back
Course will humble you
Keep your ego in check when playin this course...lay up when necessary.
1ST TIME IN YEARS
I could have swore I had played this course once some 15 years ago, but not one hole or the clubhouse even looked familiar. No matter, had a excellent time. Beautiful course and only paid 25.00 for the outing. Clubhouse and pro-shop were excellent too. I kept looking for Rodney Dangerfield to come in and start ordering drinks. Well , that would have topped it all off anyway....Ya gotta play this course if ya get the chance...
Beautiful course, nice staff!
Thoroughly enjoyed this course. Good value. they paired us with another twosome who have a home on the course. What a bonus that was! Like having a caddy to read the greens for you! (The green were tough.)
GPS would have been nice.....
Beautiful course, with one exception
I've played Abbey Springs before, so I knew it would be immaculate. Everything was excellent, except the greens. We've had some rain lately, but they really didn't seem to have been mowed in a couple of days. That was rather disappointing for a course of this stature.
Loved it so much that i came back 2 days later!
I played the course for the first time with my buddy who commented below a couple days prior to this round, and we enjoyed it so much that we came right back, and will continue to go back.We did nothing but compliment how beautiful it is right along with every hole we were on. This course got my attention right from the first tee, and man did I get a shock! DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE FOR GRANTED! if you do, ur in for a long round, its not a long course but it dont need to be with the layout .It presents plenty of challenges trust me! The scenery is amazing! course conditions were great, lots of slope in the fairways and greens, just overall the course is very well maintained. the back 9 is absolutely amazing! I cnt stress enough how nice this course is for the money. only downside I have with it is the sorry excuse of a driving range and the cart attendants don't come around much like I would like esp for this kinda course, but other then that this course is definatley a 10. I would recommend this course to anyone, and if you have never played there and are going for the first time. take the time to enjoy it and truly appreciate the beauty of it. Great golf course, best I have played in my opinion. its challenging but fair and it will test your skills and shot making ability. GO PLAY THIS COURSE!
