Abbey Springs Golf Course
About
Abbey Springs Golf Course in Fontana is routed through mature woodlands that give it a peacefully secluded feel. Surrounded by countryside and enclosed within towering trees, the course is an ideal getaway. The challenging course has small, sloped greens and water hazards that come into play on half of the holes. It is a golf course that requires accuracy, especially when maneuvering past the strategically placed bunkers that lurk beside the greens. There are plenty of challenges in store for more advanced players, but beginners can still approach the course with confidence. The excellent condition of the course is also a feature that any golfer can appreciate. Abbey Springs Golf Course's signature hole is the par-4 17th, which offers what might be the most scenic of all the vistas on the course. This hole plays from an elevated tee that overlooks Lake Geneva.

Best Golf Course EVER!
My Friend & I played it for 1st time. Best course I have personally played in Wisconsin. I put it way overthrow Grand General's Brute course for every thing. The ELEVATION changes. The fairway s R Perfect. The greens R perfect and have many slopes. The scenery is spectacular and AMAZING. BEST BACK NINE IN WISCONSIN. Hole 17 is the GREATEST HOLE EVER. THE VIEW FROM the black tees is breath taking. I would want to be a member there if I had that kind of money. 10 ☆ out of 5. Its the perfect golf course in EVERY WAY. BEST COURSE EVER!
Many beautiful views of lake geneva
Need to be accurate off the tee, narrow fairways with allot of high hill and down hill shots
Great Course
Great course with nicely keep fairways.
The course is challenging with rolling hills throughout the course making even fairway second shots difficult sat times.
The greens were tough with difficult pin placement.
The climax is the 17 hole that is elevated and looks out over Lake Geneva. A perfect view.
deceptively challenging
Great course with amazing views of Lake Geneva. It was deceptively challenging as on the scorecard it is such a short course, but with the elevation changes and a lot of ways to get into trouble if you are not hitting straight made for a challenging round. I would normally hit in the low to mid 90's on a course such as this, but this course got the best of me this day taking 5 balls and giving me a 110.
Wonderful Course
Challenging course with fun elevation changes. Unfortunately, unable to get any drinks on the course.
wheres the water??
hot and humid day,no water or cart girl on course/really???--to nice a place for no water/or access to..otherwise a truly great day--was my birthday!!
Another "Must Play" course
I hadn't been here in 15yrs and what the course has turned into is truly remarkable. The maturity of the course is great along with the perfect conditions. This course has a few holes that are truly one of a kind holes that will take your breath away. Finishing on a dogleg left is crazy and a real challenge. The staff is to be commended for keeping this course up as they have over the years. Not to mention are the greens that have perfect speed and conditions. You won't be disappointed at one of the most picture-ous golf courses in the state of wisconsin. The membership feel is there but they make you feel welcome and for that I thank you. Extra: The proshop is over the top too as of the best in wisconsin.
beverage cart
It was a Saturday afternoon 85 degrees and humid and no beverage cart. If we would have known that we would have got beverages before we went out.
local favorite
This is one of my favorite courses in the lake Geneva area which has some of the best courses in the state.
Great Course
excellent Course great greens very nice par 3's & 4's
Great layout
Beautiful design, very scenic, and the golf is challenging but fair. The course and greens were in great shape! A very enjoyable golf experience.
Beautiful views, top notch course!
Abbey Springs was extremely well manicured and highly maintained. Whoever is in charge of course maintenance obviously takes a lot of pride in the property. The greens are not insanely fast but are tough to read and it was a wonderful experience. It did have a bit of a Bushwood feel to it being semi private but overall a must play if you get the chance!
A gem in Walworth County
The course was in great shape. It was a bit slow but we played a two-some behind a couple of four-somes, so the slower pace was to be expected. The holes are fun and challenging. Number 17 is breath taking.
Some great views
The course is in very good shape and several of the greens are rather slopey, especially near the front of the greens. I had several shots hit the bottom level and roll off, penalty for hitting a bit short! Several good elevation changes throughout the course. Leave the driver in the bag on 17 & 18 and use GOOD course management! A very nice track!
Quite an experience for the average hacer
The course was in fantastic shape. Greens seemed a little slower than what I expected, but with the trickiness of the greens anything faster would have been exasperating. Low putts in our 4-some was 39, and that guy is probably the best putter I play with. What is needed is a straight ball and some local knowledge which would only come from multiple rounds. It is a course that I woudn't pay regular prices for, but with a "HotDeal" special it is affordable. I'm glad I played the course but felt like I was playing "scared" with how narrow and tricky it is.
Amazing experience
Feels like you are playing at a private country club for the price of playing a Chicago Park District course.
solid course
Its a nice course, though I wouldn't pay anywhere close to full greens fees. Has a few throwaway holes-one being the supposed signature hole #17, Its also a short course. Lots of trees, though the fairways don't get too tight. Greens were a bit inconsistent. Very hilly for Wisconsin. Not sure if I would play it again, but worth a visit. Pro shop staff was excellent.
greens
greens are pretty tuff u better be good at reading grain and break or u r screwed
Overrated!!!
I must say I was a little disappointed leaving the course. After reading golfnow reviews and high grade I expected a better course. They shape of course was little wet which is to be expected at this time of year. I got the deal of golfnow "hot deals" so the price was great ,however if I would of paid full price I would not recommend this course. 17th hole was neat and fun to play but the rest of holes left me wanting more.
I remember Jpanese up and down courses.
Very good plaers. I feel so better. Very nice green and maintenance condisitons.
