Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2020.

No matter if you're a beginner or experienced golfer, you'll find what you're looking for at Brucefields Family Golf Centre.

The main 9-hole golf course is a true test of golf that will push golfers to play to handicap. No. 6 is the signature hole, a short 136-yard par 3. You'll have to be accurate to avoid disaster on "The Battlefield."

The facility also includes a driving range and the Clive Ramsay Restaurant, serving a range of meals.

Not family friendly

Took grandkids as listed as family friendly. Paid for three adult main course fees. Explained to staff two grandkids first game having already been on driving range. Spoke to golfer and his son who also on first time, no problem. We were removed from main course to par 3 course by pro and starter as kids struggled a little on the first hole (nervous). Complained ov course review for a condescending reply about etiquette. Both kids had etiquettte training at a number of driving ranges before their first game. We all have to start somewhere thought a family golf centre would be ideal, NOT. Won’t be back, kids were mortified! On the bright side other staff were superb!

Nice wee track with great approaches!

This is a family centre, so did not expect course to be in good condition (after all the bad weather) and from it being pay and play. Nor did I expect there to be much of a challenge! Thankfully I was wrong! :)
Course was in really good condition after the bad weather, greens were true and running a nice pace. Fairways only a little patchy in places. Staff keep the course in great condition. For a short course, the approaches to the greens are very well designed with false slopes and good bunkering (good sand too!)

Despite being a 9 hole course it offered a challenge and a very original layout.

Brucefields Full course review (18 holes played)

Local resident and have played here many times over the years. A good set of complex holes fitted into a small footprint. However, don't let this put you off. Simple first, longish second, nice 3rd, awkward 4 due to tree growth on left, 5th is a night mare for me, short par 5 uphill with OB right and tiered green, par 3 6th very short but wow best you can hit a postage stamp! 7th par 4 is getting tricky due again to tree growth, 8th par 4 uphill nothing to worry about and par 3 9th down hill, typically with the wind on your left shoulder so club down.
Condition is very good and work being done to maintain.

Play if you are in the area and have time for either 9 or 18.

Brucefields Golf

£11 for 18 holes on a sunny Sunday, whats not to like. The course was practically empty, until I was held up by a 3 ball over the last three holes. The par 3 6th hole is still I consider one of the hardest holes in Scotland! 135 yards from a hugely elevated tee, steep hill and gorse on the left, water to the right, bunkers surrounding the green, makes me sweat just typing!
Pay it, play and enjoy it!
