Lochmaben Golf Club
About
Famous for its wildlife and picturesque views of Kirk Loch, Lochmaben Golf Course presents a somewhat surreal experience to any golfer.
The attractive 18-hole parkland golf course occupies a historic area around Kirk Loch. Close by the second green is the site of Bruce Castle. On the third hole, golfers can see the huge defensive ditch, which helped protect the castle.
The par-70 course's signature hole is the 120-yard eighth hole, which requires a tee shot across a corner of Kirk Loch.
Lochmaben is an ancient town four miles west of Lockerbie on the main road between it and Dumfries. Its location is unusual as it is hemmed in by three separate lochs: Castle Loch to the south, Kirk Loch to the southwest, and Mill Loch to the northwest. Lochmaben's origins date back at least as far as the building of the castle by the Bruce family in the 1160s.

Great experience
We were recommended the course by a golfer that we met in a pub/restaurant the night before.
It didn't disappoint.
Considering the time of year, the course is in good condition and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Thumbs up 👍
Course in good condition for time of year. Staff &members friendly and helpful. 😀
A course of two 9's
To me the course felt like it was split into 2 x 9 holes. Front 9 had long par 3's and short par 4's while the back 9 had the opposite. Fairways are excellent, greens were fast and bunkers looked in good nick although I was never in one. The greens had lots of dark footprints around the holes which I couldn't understand why as my steps didn't leave any marks. Staff very friendly in the bar area and the green staff always happy to wave and say hello. Worth a visit.
Wee cracker
Played here with my 2 brothers through a golf now deal. Great playing course and in excellent condition, Credit to all involved. Quite hilly so make sure you’ve had your breakfast, I’d recommend the Scottish one from the clubhouse. Staff and members where very friendly and welcoming.
Lovely course
What a good day, course was immaculate, pace of play was ok even though we were behind a society and it was very busy at times, every hole is different and interesting, will definitely be back
Excellent
Great course, fairway and greens were in perfect condition. Some challenging par 3s. Loved it.
Perfect weather, would really be if it from an outdoor patio area or a veranda from the bar overlooking the 18th Green.
