The best 18 hole course on Arran

If you are looking to play an 18 hole round on Arran this is the course to play. Unlike all the other courses on the island you will walk off the course feeling like you've played a full round, rather than an (albeit very nice) quirky 9 or 12 hole pitch and putt. It's a good walk with excellent course views of the surrounding hills and bay. The value for money is excellent if you can get a good online deal (I got it at £26 for a two ball). And if the weather is good the outside seating area and views are the best of all the clubs on the island also.

Great little course

Superb location, unbelievable views and some very tricky holes, played from the yellow tees and this made the course 500 yards shorter but some tricky par 3’s. Super day out and will definitely be back.

Holiday golf

Quite a hilly course with small greens and a lot of rough if you spray the ball about. Great value for the price and stunning views across to Holy Island and the Ayrshire coast

Blowing a gale

Lamlash is one of my favourite courses on Arran. Today - mid December; astonishingly the course is in lovely condition. Dry underfoot. Greens are fantastic. Course is nicely manicured. There are no particularly long holes but there is always a need for careful judgement if you wish to stave off the golding frustration. Factor in the wind and you will enjoy this golf course. The views are magnificent. The whole experience is one I would like to repeat again and again. Fantastic value for money. Had the place to myself`! Highly recommended.

Lamlas golf club has beautiful views across to Holy Isle

Had a most enjoyable day. Course in very good condition apart from recently hollatined greens which were very bobbly. Spoilt slightly by a miserable member who nearly hit us with a ball on 16th teeing off before we had cleared the green and refused to apologise!

Excellent views from high hills.

Course in good nick apart from one or two small muddy patches from the recent rain. Lovely surroundings and helpful starter. Rather hilly, so be fit, take your time or hire a buggy.

Hard, beautiful and hilly!

Beautiful scenic course. Tough challenge off the white tees with the hilly nature of the course puting a premium on placement off the tee (allow for some wierd bounces). Ferocious bracken and heather rough means a good supply of ammunition is advisable. Only downside when we played was that the condition of the greens on the front nine made putting on bit of a lottery. However, at £11 via Golf Now this is an absolute bargain.

Challenging with great views

Lovely course with stunning views of Holy Island and Lamlash Bay. The course is not long but it's defence comes from it's hilly nature, the bracken, and it's many small elevated greens where you can't see the bottom of the flag for your approach. First visit is tricky as there are lots of blind tee shots but if you use the markers you'll be fine, otherwise take lots of balls! You need to be fit to carry on this course, it's a good walk so you get plenty of time to admire the views as you recover your breath! I'll definitely be playing this course again when I visit Arran and wholeheartedly recommend it. Clubhouse facilities excellent.

Lamlash - on a sunny day.

Stunning setting. Front nine - good pace. Back nine was slow. There were several four balls and none of them were motoring. The views and the weather made up for that minor frustration. Unfortunately there has been a long spell with no rain and the greens were pretty bare. Desperately need water. Hard to imagine on Arran but true! Shot gross 8 over par off a 12 handicap so no complaints!

Golf in a lovely setting

I had the pleasure of playing with local members - Jim, John and Craig - and I played a variety of white tees to see how the course shapes up for comps. Due to the local landscape, the course has some hills but this actually made for some very interesting holes and stunning views of Goat Fell and the Holy Isle! Although not a long course, there are several long par 3s and as most greens are elevated to some extent, its a great challenge to work out the best line of approach to catch the playing surface. The view from the 9th tee was amazing! Pace of play was excellent even though there were a few 4-balls ahead of us, and the cool drink on the decking outside the clubhouse was a fine way to finish a great morning out!
